  1. Wow, looking at that interior, definitely something to MOD. I'd like some interior other than just a chair (although the chair does look nice) The exterior looks decent, but not what I'd want. I'll still pick it up though.
  2. I wanted to do something like this too. I never bought that LEGO movie set, but I may pick it up sometime. I like how simple your ice cream shoppe looks. It is very fitting. The subtle color scheme works well too. And I like the ice cream cones on the outside. I don't love the first floor so far. I like how it is done, but I keep picturing it in terms of other modulars. But how it stands, it looks very creator-esque inspired. Keep up the good work!
  3. Legogal - nice idea about selling the sets and making them open them. I assume they must have got a good deal then? And I did build a sand blue grocer a few months ago. I'll have to get pictures sometime.
  4. Thanks for the build. This does highlight other things not in reviews, so it is still worth a read. Plus, the modular line are so much fun to look at, I will still read this even though I've seen countless reviews. It is interesting (not shocking anymore) to me to see how different some of your dark blues look. Lighting might be at play on some parts, but ultimately it looks like two different shades. And it seems LEGO has had that struggle with certain colors in the recent past because of the dye system they changed to. Either way, that is one part of this building I never understood. The dark blue arched doorway. Why is there that huge air gap underneath the arch?? I'd think something should go there. Why have a door if someone could just grab a ladder and hop right in! The roof is my favorite part (and the color helps). I don't love the reddish brown that close to dark red, but I haven't seen other colors that looks right either. The mish-mash of dark blue with reddish brown and tan and topped off with dark red is very odd to me. The building design is outstanding and I know the colors were probably pretty new at that time, but it does not look that great to me. But I've rebuilt CC multiple times now as different structures and I think it looks the best as a corner building. I tried an inverted L corner, but it didn't fit into the same footprint as the rest of the line, so I couldn't display it. I've tried a straight 32 wide building, which looks "okay" but not as awe inspiring as the original corner design.
  5. Actually that sentinel would fit into the Friends theme perfectly. I hadn't considered that...
  6. ^LEGO has stated they won't do any re-releases. They most likely will redesign the Falcon to sell to the new fanbase with the new movies coming out, but it won't be a re-release of the UCS Falcon. That's one thing for sure.
  7. It seems this has been answered by a lot of people with a recurrent theme. I'd also be in the camp that you overpaid, just based on market value. Shipping can add up depending on where you order from, but shouldn't be more than $3 for one figure (at least based on my selling of figures on amazon.) You always want to order from as few of sellers as possible to save on shipping, but some stores may have a higher cost to certain pieces and it negates all savings. Either way, I like looking at Bricklink for actual value and then I get on eBay and try to win auctions for less than I could get them elsewhere. Win-win for me.
  8. I don't think making purchases will raise any red flags. It is when you complain and require missing pieces or broken pieces to be replaced at no cost to you is when you get flagged. They'll take your money all day long, but they don't want to give anything away.
  9. Well that soon time is only in licensed sets because they have to represent actual people. Yes they started with yellow skin but then they realized they weren't able to represent everyone like that. There was a huge controversy. Did no one hear about that? And with the most recent exo suit they had licensed skin color, but they switched it to yellow because they weren't representing any particular characters. Keep in mind I love the licensed skin tones. I just wish we had more variety.
  10. Has this been discussed...all of those backgrounds look like the variant covers they are putting out this fall for the game release. I think I'm going to go broke. I still don't have all of the marvel covers!!http://www.newsarama.com/21818-dc-reveals-november-2014-variant-cover-theme.html
  11. It looks great. The figures look great. But I don't like the price for a big black box like others have said. Plus, stickers are pretty unwelcome here. But that is how LEGO does things. Just think about how expensive this would be if it had all printed pieces!
  12. ^We are talking about a DC game, not Marvel, so it would have nothing to do with Captain America...fyi But since both comics are always closely related, DC had the same color scheme as Captain. I'd love all of those figures. Basically anything new is welcome in my book. I like some rehashes (like that Catwoman! and Harley).. but I also would welcome a lot of newbies, even if I don't know much about them.
  13. I'd hope for something neat... I missed out on Fantasy Era but I got back into LEGO in time to still buy the MMV. I didn't feel compelled to complete that theme, but I liked that D2C. I have purchased nothing in the new Castle theme, but if a D2C was done right, I'd be tempted. I loved Kingdoms and would gladly welcome a return, but I don't see that happening. Something in terms of another faction would be welcome. I just didn't love the colors or heraldry of the new Castle line. Hopefully something good comes out this next year.
  14. It is unfortunate that the line very well could be over. I just don't think the darker colors hit it off with the target audience. Plus the movies themselves aren't in the mind's eye like Hobbit is. Hobbit seems very kid friendly in comparison. So much, I have not enjoyed those movies as much. The sets are okay, but mostly because I want to hold onto a more medieval type of LEGO theme. I doubt I would go back and buy more if I haven't already, so until they officially confirm it is over, I don't see much changing. But have they ever really confirmed anything is over? As far as I know the Harry Potter theme just ended without any actual confirmation of it ending. They just give the big send off and call it good...which is what Orthanc must have been. It'd be nice to find 2012 sets at reasonable prices again. I'd pick up some extras of those if I had another chance. But 2013 sets are all one and done for me.
  15. Love that tree! And I am really digging the color of the troops. That olive green arm with the light metallic silver and the kingdoms chainmail are really working for me. I may have to see if I can copy that for my own kingdom. Very nicely done!
  16. Brilliant! Looks very well represented from what I can remember. I have been wanting to do a microscale Game of Thrones build, so this is inspiring. But I didn't realize the footprint it may take up. I may have to not do as many castles in that regard. Keep up the great work!
  17. Not to be rude, but are you bad at feeling them or are you trying to get that many of each character?
  18. I don't think Dino line was unprofitable. I think the problem was a high expense for new dinosaur molds caused the sets to be too high for the build and in turn would cause a lower payout. I didn't ever see any on clearance (not that that is a tell all sign).
  19. I don't think I've ever received an order email or shipping email. I have seen the order number on the website though.
  20. People seal their own bags all the time. It makes it easier when selling a lot. I know a few bricklink sellers that do it too for their pieces.
  21. The city AC continued with the CMF Santa that was released. Since they created the new molds, they are sticking with it, so yes it did improve in that aspect. But it probably won't improve again, unless they make some new molds for other sets during the year. I only had the Kingdoms AC, but that was a good one.I'm surprised they didn't do a Castle AC for this new theme. I haven't purchased any of those sets, but it makes sense. But then again I agree, anything above 3 can be a bit daunting since they are competing with each other too.
  22. I haven't seen the movie, so I can't attest to any details there. But I was interested in all of the figures too. Obviously, I know which sets to get to get the whole line, but does anyone else find it strange that it is typically cheaper/just as cheap to buy the full set vs just the minifigures on eBay/bricklink? I find that strange. I might as well give my money straight to LEGO and get all of these extra bricks instead of just buying random figures online. And I think the Milano has the colors from Chima. Flame yellowish orange is the official name.
  23. ^Exactly. Everything dark and dreary wouldn't sell many toys... oh wait, I guess they hadn't anyway since the theme is done with. (Keep that jest in mind since LOTR is my favorite theme and I hate to see it go) I assume they would have brightened it up considering how dark most of the playsets were. The selling point (figures) needed to stand out a bit more against that backdrop. But I think they've hit them pretty spot on. I hadn't noticed if people wear gloves or not. Just switch out the hands if it bothers people so much.
  24. True..I hadn't thought of Vitruvius dying and then people forgetting all about it. I mean, there was even a ghost Vitruvius. Finn really has a twisted mind to just forget about a major murder... I have realized over the years that my daughter can play with more. Again, I have my own stuff that is for display or my hands only. But a lot of it anymore she can play with. No reason for me to yell at her for wanting to play with a toy. I agree they should be careful with it and learn to respect other people's possessions. But there is another reason why I keep stuff out of reach -- her friends. They tend to destroy everything they look at. So they aren't allowed anywhere near the LEGO room.
  25. Very fun build. Very reminiscent of my childhood. The drawbridge being down does make sense for those old pictures. They always had crazy things like that going on. And the guy with the spear in his back must have been killed by his own kind. He wouldn't have fallen forward with the spear in his back otherwise. Maybe switch it to his front and have him laying on his back????
