[MOC] Mazda RT24-P
Gray Gear replied to mordecai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Wow, that's pretty cool! I am from the technic section, so there are far too many studs on this model for my taste. I like the open cockpit and the use of these antennas. I think the way people usually do windows in the scale modeling section using black tiles is really bad looking, great you managed to avoid that. And the massive ammount of uneven studwidth building in this MOC is intresting as well! -
If you would like to build this model, you can get the building instructions on rebrickable. If you want to build a red version, just replace all the white pieces with red ones. You'll probably have to buy more offbrand pieces though. You have to order the pieces yourself. I only have so much free time, and I would rather spend it developing new MOCs If you want to order from china or GoBricks, feel free to DM me if you have any questions that google cant answer

Very nice cration! I like the front view, its giving me vibes from a few different cars. The rear isn't really for me tho. Props for your gearbox, its a very compact design. I dont like using the 8t gears because they cause more friction in the gearbox becuase they are so small. But for a car with very little space it is a great solution. I get why you didn't use my "safeshift" system or something alike, it requires some space you just didn't have. But why didn't you use a shift lever that uses Balljoint in the middle, like in my example transmission you linked? It requires a lot less space than your dual pivot system, and looks a lot cleaner too. Is there some advantage I dont get? Thank you for sharing, it is always so much fun to look transmission designs of others

Hell yeah, this is exactly up my alley! Are you doing some kind of jdm car competition? Is the 86's widebody kit based on any real kit? The blue 180 is amazing, cant wait to see more! The visible intercooler piping, massive rear wing and of course some TE37's... You've been modifying bricks in some places tho right? I am thinking about building a Nissan 180 drift car in 1:8 scale, such an amazing car

Looks very nice! I like clean overall look. I think it is a good development that Mould King is working with MOCers as well instead of stealing their work.- 23 replies

Drift chassis question
Gray Gear replied to Mechbuilds's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@1963maniac Why would you use a locked up differential instead of just using a gear? What advantage does it have, surely using a normal gear is much stronger? -
I like the Drifting action, it looks like a whole lot of fun Working pop-up headlights are cool, but I think they could be improved. Yours kinda open like a door, but on the real car they more like "roll" up. I feel like you are having lots of fun and talent implementig technic functions, but don't really like doing bodywork

Lets have a look at the heartof my build, the 6speed manual AWD transmission. I made this in LDCad for you Tan = Rear wheel drive Yellow = Front wheel drive Gray = Center differential+ 3 clutch rings with gears to make them spin different speeds Red = Fake engine drive Here you can see the entire drivetrain This is the shift lever + linkage system to move the clutch rings. Light green: 1st+2nd gear medium green: 3rd+4th gear dark green: 5th+6th gear And this blue piece is what I call the "Safeshift system". It moves left&right on the black axle , following the shift levers movements. Its purpose is to centerlock the 2 unused links at all times. That way it is impossible to engage 2 gears at once, which in the worst case could destroy the transmission. I hope I was able to explain everything so it was easy to understand, if you have any questions, thoughts or improvement ideas please tell me in the comments. Peace!

Drift chassis question
Gray Gear replied to Mechbuilds's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
When spinning the back wheels faster than the front ones, what makes sure the rear tires lose traction, and not the front ones? Usually most of the weight is in the back, so there should be more traction there. The RC cars probably use tires with low grip in the rear... -
No, there is a protective system that prevents you from accidentally engaging multiple gears at once.

Whats up everybody, hope y'all are doing well. I would like you to meet this little Godzilla of mine This car was built with the car scene in "Wangan Midnight" in mind: Modified cars steetracing on the Wangan Highway, where everything is about top speed. The car's engine has been converted to a bigger single turbo for better top speed and improved cooling, a vented hood and bigger intercooler setup for improved cooling, bucketseats and a weld-in rollcage. And of course the little lip on the trunk and spoiler and a massive flamespitting cannon exhaust pipe. Obviously I used quite a few Non-LEGO pieces here and there to achieve the desired look. Features: working RB26DETT fake engine (the second "T" should be removed tho because this car has a single turbo conversion) 6speed AWD manual transmission with "Safeshift" system HoG steering with moving steering wheel Independent suspension all around Opening hood and trunk Opening doors with locking mechanism Check out Sariels awesome Model Scaler tool, it helped me a ton once again: http://scaler.sariel.pl/ Specs: scale: 1:8 length: 56 cm width: 24 cm height:16 cm Weight: 2.8kg Piece count: estimated 2500-3500 What everybody wants to see in this forum: I tried to keep as much of the transmission visible from below as possible. I know this pic doesn't do the engine bay justice, but its all I have now. The body is amazingly rigid thanks to the functional weld-in rollcage. And a nice group pic with my 2 previous projects: A few more pics: I hope you enjoyed reading this, leave your thoughts in the comments below ;) Gray Gear

Drift chassis question
Gray Gear replied to Mechbuilds's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
4WD is not good for drifting as it takes a lot more power to break 4 tires lose than 2. Just put the 2 buggy motors on the rear axle, no gears inbetween. Keep it simple! -
[MOC] Ford F-150
Gray Gear replied to mktechniccreations's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks quite nice! But if you want this to be in the technic section of this forum, you better show us some of the technic stuff inside as well -
My experience is the same. GoBricks, MK and Cada gears feel much harder than the tan LEGO ones, and quite similar to the older lg/lbg LEGO gears. They work quite well. But personally I only use the older (harder) lg/lbg LEGO gears in my MOCs. I always buy used ones that have already passed their break-in-period, those run the smoothest out of all I have tested.

I know the feeling, my Honda NSX MOC is being sold on Aliexpress without my permission as well... I meant like Cobi and Xingbao, CADA isn't the only company not stealing MOCs. I dont know which parts I posess are genuine LEGO, or GOBricks, Cada, DECOOL... and I dont care. It is a brick, and it will do the same job no matter where it came from lol. Just avoid mixing low quality Bricks into your collection and you'll be fine.

The building block market is changing, and LEGO is going to face even more capable and high quality competitors in the future than they are now. This forum will have to decide wether it will it will serve every Brick lover (no matter the brand) or only the LEGO fans. I for myself love building with these little plastic pieces no matter the brand, I even mix LEGO with other brands. I cannot see why cada&co should not fit in this community.

Very nice spaceship, you have amazing panel placement skills and everything looks so smooth, even the underside. I get some sort of "spider leg vibe" from these lines on the underside I especially like how these windows are fitted without any gaps anywhere, I forst thought that was one single window piece. So cool! Btw what's up with these lame a$$ names? Kenny and Benny, really? Is this some sort of joke that I dont get? Anyways, thx for sharing!

I like the overfenders, they flow really well with the rest of the car. -
[MOC] 1968 Dodge Charger

With a massive Tire sidewall, unfitting for a sportscar. But yes, I know that is something I could do, but it wouldn't look good imo.
