  1. I do not know for sure, only going by what I read above. To me that is what is meant by frictionless.
  2. I would very much like to have a few dozen of these for all my new 8 wide Speed Champions vehicles. The tan ones that come with the sets pull out of the axle holes way to easy, so much so that the wheels often come off when drifting. So I, at least don't consider them to be almost useless.
  3. Reviewers take note, this is a proper review and the kind I enjoy most, thanks for that. Although this set is not for me, I thoroughly enjoyed the review. I do however consider this a great set and it looks to be a fun build experience.
  4. This is a subject that I have always been keenly interested in, so I am glad to see it being discussed here. I could watch endless hours of boring videos on the subject, lol. Of course there are many reasons, some we know, some we don't and still others we guess at concerning the moulding process. Another consideration could be that making or using a specific mould takes away from others that are simply more profitable / higher demand. They only have so many machines and obviously must choose how much time to devote to a one off piece, that rarely gets used. As I have said before on this subject, I don't really know what I'm talking about, just speculation on my part but I am eager to learn more.
  5. Impressive work Lasse D, glad you shared it with us. As someone that is trying to learn more about LEGO gearboxes, I am always interested in what others are accomplishing. I do think it is funny people cite realism as a reason to not use a ten speed gearbox, still, more and more vehicles in real life are turning to transmissions with far more than just the usual 3 or 4 speeds. Anyway I like it and thanks, keep up the great work and continue sharing, please. Have a LEGO great day all.
  6. Yikes, yeah had no idea it cost that much, hell for a few more doubloons, you could pick up the creator 3in1 pirate ship, now that's a great set. I also will be looking for a discount though since I too enjoy all things pirate themed.
  7. I was about to mention that as well, 116psi, I would have safety concerns. Be sure to wear safety googles, lol. I use pneumatic nailers at work and at 80 psi can drive a 16 penny nail thru a 2x4 piece of wood.
  8. There was a Ninjago polybag set a couple of years ago, I think it was the Icetank thing. Anyway it has like 20+ of those links, maybe even 30, if I remember correctly. Not sure why but I ended up buying 5 or 6 of them just for those links. Anyway if you can find it, seems like another way of getting them relatively inexpensive.
  9. And higher center of gravity as well. Really looking forward to a couple of the reviews, even though I already know I will be getting both sets. The Raptor just isn't the type set I like and the Caterpillar I just can't afford, if I buy the Tow Truck and Trials Truck. So overall I am happy with this wave.
  10. Done and yes that seemed rather odd too.
  11. I think this set is much like the Ferrari, just not for me. It seems to be an okay set for what it is supposed to be, a display set. And while I do display some Technic sets, I mostly like the ones with more functions. Fortunately there are other sets I like, so I feel no need to buy this one. Also think it is funny how sometimes I forget, I don't have to have every set and they don't all have to be what I expect or want.
  12. I can use many of those parts, glad to see them, also since I just hit $100 on my VIP I will probably use it too. Just the sort of set I have been waiting for, yay. It will be interesting to see how this thing looks inside and whether or not it actually has decent performance. Definitely like it a little better now official pictures and description have been released, as usual.
  13. Yep, I am afraid unless it has some really cool features, like some kind of softer longer travel suspension, it will be an easy pass for me. All out of shelf space, lol.
  14. As much as I like it, I think many are setting themselves up for disappointment already, not expecting much considering the parts count.
  15. Two spare tyres would be great, lol. Then it would be much easier to put the third axle on there.
  16. Glad to hear that as that is my primary reason for getting the set, as usual.
  17. Wow, I have never seen that set but I build a paper airplane launcher a couple of years ago that was very similar but I used more wheels and mine was completely hand held, like a gun. Same basic principle though and here I thought I came up with a completely original idea, lol. Thanks for bursting my bubble, glad I never promoted it as such.
  18. Sorry about that guys, not sure why I have such a problem deleting quote boxes. Anyway the set looks pretty good without decals, I am glad of that. Also see many things I can change, very glad for that. I like the sets that lend themselves towards modifying the most.
  19. I was looking at some pictures of the real car and it's weird but the rear tires look way to small on it too.
  20. Yeah a bit early for sure, I have yet to pick up any of this years sets yet, lol, so I can't really comment on them. As far as next year, I feel certain the theme will continue, I can't imagine they would have even bothered switching to 8-wide, it they were going to end the theme after only two waves. They also seem to shy away from the asian car market for some reason, so I would expect the usual European cars with maybe one American car but who can know at this stage. It would all be speculation and wish-listing. I do wish the would add a set or two to each years line-up and split it into two smaller waves each year. It just seems like every year I get all the sets in less than a month and end up wanting more, lol.
