42122 Trophy Truck
Johnny1360 replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very well done, I like it very much, I dare say as much if not more than the A model. I have been looking at the A model for about two weeks now, really not liking it much, was about to rip it apart and attempt a B model myself but I may build this first now, thanks for sharing. -
Finally got around to slapping this thing together, fun enough little set but lol, to say the surfboards fit a bit loosely is an understatement. Mine are so loose they just randomly fall off, like if I just walk by it sitting on the table. Oh well, like everyone else I guess I will accept it as a challenge to make it better. It is a bit disappointing though and I can't believe LEGO would allow such a thing.

Finally got around to putting this set together and to me good or bad this set has no suspension at all, it can however lean to either side. I pretty much bought it for parts so all in all not disappointed. To me it looks okay but all the features are very lackluster and cheesily done, like the Corvette, it won't be together long.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion

Sure looks like it, wonder how it looks in real life, seems like it would look a little odd. -
Trying to decide...
Johnny1360 replied to Snazzy Bricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Having just finished the mixer and I have all three of the mentioned sets. I think for build experience I would pick the mixer. It was a much better set than I expected. Not a bunch of panels and pretty fun to put together, also turns out it looks much better in real life, than pictures. For parts the the loader, although I did enjoy building it too, I bought it mostly for the parts. Many seem to actually loath that set but I liked it. As far as the Porsche again if you want parts, other than that it is pretty much run of the mill and to me anyway rather lackluster. -
DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think that would be a complete waste for a D2C set. Maybe something a little better than the 4+ set would be good though. Which I actually bought. -

Probably has a considerable amount of torque on that last gear, lol -
Have the winter 2021 sets been delayed?

And yet LEGO in their infinite wisdom is going ahead with plans to open an additional 120 stores. -
How common are missing pieces?
Johnny1360 replied to Joseph Barker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Relatively new to the hobby, compared to most around here but I have bought close to 600 sets and built every one of them. Only one the Saturn V rocket had one piece missing and actually it wasn't missing just the wrong color. There should have been 8 white bows and 8 black bows. For some reason I got 9 and 7 and they immediately sent the right one, only took 2 weeks. That was when the set first came out though. -
Yep picked one up from Target last week, amazingly there are still some on the shelf. Definitely a noticeable color difference with those pins too, not even really close to being the same red but at least all of them are the same color. I really like this set, it was a fun build and I can't wait to start making some B models with it. It does seem a bit flimsy though, more for display than play. I am okay with that too, just seems like those front forks want to bend more than they should and for obvious reasons the swingarm flexes a great deal.

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Johnny1360 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Anytime I have found sets at Target out before release date, I always try to go through the self checkout so that doesn't happen. Unfortunately more often than not the register will scan it and you get a message saying, set not offered for sale yet. I assume the cashiers get the same message and have no control over whether to sell the set to you or not. -
42108 availability
Johnny1360 replied to trinitechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe that is why I have been noticing a lot of re-branded boxes. They have a white label pasted on where the set number and name is. Apparently the label adds the piece count. -

The shelves of all the big brick and mortar stores are also eerily devoid of LEGO sets too. You can really tell which sets are not selling well at all at least. Occasionally I see some new sets but in very limited amounts and they go quick. -
Lego 2-Stroke motor
Johnny1360 replied to Seto's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I look very much forward to seeing this project reach a successful completion. I am however very skeptical that it ever proceeds past this point. Providing a spark at the exact moment it is needed really seems to be the least of the problems. I would expect that compression and fuel delivery to be more problematic and would like to see these solutions before I could ever hope to advise an ignition system. -

They have several sets on the shelf at the LEGO store here in Indianapolis, I know that isn't much help to you but at least we know it is still out there. Funny because I actually considered picking a second set up just for parts, last week. -
Thanks for the review, enjoyed the read. Picked this set up some time ago and was actually pleasantly surprised. I rather enjoyed the build and got some good parts to boot. Also not overly expensive as sets seem to be getting here recently.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Not that I represent the vast majority of Technic set customers by a long shot but when they quit putting B-model instructions in with the sets I quit building them. Edit: the B-models that is. -
