  1. I used to do that too, now I have an overabundance of pullback motors, so I avoid those sets now. Those balloon tires are quite common as well and you will soon accumulate more than you will ever need. I do however still like to get parts from sets, so I look for sets with not so common useful parts. I prefer doing this rather than just buying parts, it may be cheaper to buy specific parts but it is much less economical. More importantly I just try to enjoy building and don't really think there is a wrong way to play with LEGO.
  2. I used to never do it, but lately I find myself doing modules more and more. The biggest reason is when something doesn't work out exactly how I want it to, I don't have to rebuild half the structure, I can simply rework the module. The plus side is my mocs are much more refined from the start, providing I actually finish it, lol.
  3. Lol, yes, yes I do. And here I thought I was the only one.
  4. Really makes me wonder, how many people are on the payroll, that have nothing at all to do with manufacturing or designing of LEGO products and how much this effects the final cost of sets.
  5. Not LEGO, that much we know, straight from the creator.
  6. Most ot mine are in the older plastic bags but the paper ones work just as well. I fold them over and put a very small piece of blue painters tape on it to keep it closed. Think of a wrapped Christmas present, the blue tape is made for easy release with minimal damage to the bag.
  7. That is something that comes with time and why I say practice, there is no substitute for experience.
  8. I have always just used a damp sponge, with no issues whatsoever. Not so damp as to leave moisture on the box of course. I also find it is a good idea to keep boxed sets inside of the bag it comes in too, then the box doesn't even get dusty.
  9. Practice, start small, don't try and make some huge building at first. Also I find it helps to just concentrate on certain sections at a time then join them together. Like just build a simple one room cabin first. Other than that it does help to be able to visualize your design first, I have even sketched the basic shape out on paper, don't worry to much about details at first. Tear it apart and try again, lol. Anyway that's how I do it. There are software programs available but as far as I know they don't actually show you how to assemble bricks and I don't use them anyway. Practice and look at what others have done, experiment with different parts and have fun, best advice I can offer.
  10. Yes if it is power functions controller, I assume you are looking at the train controller, so you can control speed. Just make sure it is Power Functions not Powered Up. Power Functions is IR and retired. Powered Up is Bluetooth and newer.
  11. Yeah that is a good set to buy, just for the two L motors, battery box, receiver and controller. I wish I had bought two to be honest. For $87, I would grab it, they were $99 when they first came out and will likely climb in price soon. Anyway like I said in your other thread, this is the best way to get motors now, buy a set with motors, as opposed to just the motor itself.
  12. Had no idea M motors were so pricey now and I got plenty. Anyway I would suggest looking for a older set that already has motors, seems cheaper that way plus you get more parts. I know it's hard to find at a reasonable price anymore, sure glad I got one before they were retired but if you can pick up the power functions motor pack, they are great. You get a battery pack, M motor, switch, lights, two universal joints and a clutch gear. Funny I remember spending $40 on one thinking it was crazy expensive, now they are $170, insane.
  13. Yes as others have said, very well done. Funny thing is when I first read the title I thought it was a typo and assumed it was supposed to be Batman bridge assault carrier, lol.
  14. Maybe you guys should create your own topic, I consider it bad form, to speak of members that are no longer part of the forum, I believe enough has been said, can we please just stick with the topic on hand. Trying real hard to like this set, mainly because I have always wanted a big Technic dozer, starting to think though a moc would be the way to go. I certainly have enough yellow, with all the recent sets, glad for that.
  15. That is cool start and I also had no idea that these beasts had any suspension at all, I always thought the best you could hope for was a spring under the seat, lol.
  16. Hell yeah, if they did that I would immediately buy one. As of now I am waffling, get one or not, definitely a great product and I am glad for their success.
  17. Now that I have had a chance to study the pictures more on the LEGO site, there are a few things about the looks I really don't like. Mostly those axles on the outside of the blade arms, not really a big fan of that ladder either, the way it stows away just looks funny to me, but I guess the real one is similar, so I could live with that. But man those LAs and axles exposed and in harms way just really bug the shit out of me now. And those damn tan gears. The funny thing is I really shouldn't even care, since I doubt I will ever be able to afford this set, somehow though now the Mercedes trial truck seems like a bargain. ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
  18. Indeed To me it is absolutely a joke that it is not four wheel drive as there is no such thing as a two wheel drive Raptor. Another thing is the run of the mill, ho hum suspension. The real Raptor is well known for its over the top suspension, with its Fox dual stage air shocks and usable long travel suspension, you can actually jump the real vehicle, although not recommended, lol. This set does offer a few parts I would love to have but not at such a premium price. If I can eventually find it at a deep discount I may pick it up, such a shame as this is how I feel about all Technic sets anymore, with the exception of the new tow truck. Easy pass for me and not happy about it at all. It almost seems like my time of buying any sets has come to an end. Will likely only buy parts from here on out, except for the occasional great set like the tow truck.
  19. Wish they would have used that ladder setup on the Landy. Seriously though, are the two angular motors new? What size are they, they look to be rather large.
  20. Now sure why but I am literally laughing my megablocks off, picturing this scene in my mind. A video would have been so cool. Thanks for that.
  21. Lol, I have a feeling someone is going to be having a large serving of humble pie. I certainly can understand the frustration of not getting what you expect from a set but simply wishing it so and making statements like this won't change things. Part of me is glad that this set seems better than the last "leak" yet I am still a bit disappointed with the way some of the features appear to function. I guess we won't be absolutely sure until the official reveal, so there may still be a small glimmer of hope and I will decide then whether or not to get this set, I do like the picture though, lol. The price to me is absolutely unforgivable though, more so even than the Mercedes in my opinion, which I am still on the fence about getting, solely on price. So this one will have to be very special to get my money.
  22. Hell yeah, really like what you have done here, now I want to see it with dualies.
  23. Lol, nevermind In all fairness, I did revisit the first page, please forgive me missing it as it has been years since I first read this whole thread. Still I don't understand why it is so hard to just answer a simply question, without making some smartass comment. Oh well it's what makes Eurobricks such a great place.
  24. @Didumos69 I am currently working on a similar setup and was wondering, does the cab maintain its position from being balanced and gravity, or is there some mechanism, like shocks, that keep it level, regardless of axle tilt?
  25. As the prime shopper for my household, I have noticed inflated prices across-the-board on absolutely everything, since covid hit us. Why should it be different for LEGO, not saying it's a valid reason but it is happening, like it or not. I have never bought a flagship set, just can't justify spending that kind of money on a toy and this one is no different. I have bought a few larger sets but rarely spend over $150USD although I am considering the Mercedes set only because I have $100 saved on my VIP account. Still I doubt I get it in the end. Fortunately it doesn't bother me to not have certain sets, anymore, lol. My advice is if you don't like the price, show TLG your opinion by not purchasing the set, hopefully they get the point. However I doubt any amount of complaining or justification will change things and to be honest it is getting to be a tiresome debate that seems to be talked about more than anything else here lately. No sense in beating a dead horse.
