  1. I definitely won't be entering the event, too far away for me to travel, however it does sound cool and would love to know how it turns out. Good luck and have fun, if you are joining.
  2. Great choice for a moc, lol, I am currently working on a very similar model myself, although I have decided to omit many of the features you will be using, for now. Mostly just so I will actually complete it, rather than quit in disgust as often happens with my mocs. I am having a hard time with steering right now, having decided on a large actuator for the control. So I will be following with great interest.
  3. Lol to be honest it sounded like a useful suggestion to help out, more than a reignition of a touchy subject post. Regardless although I personally don't think this thread should be shut down, just to avoid something that seems to be bothering a few people. I can remember when I first showed up here, I found many of the posts to be rather abrasive and off putting. The moderaters have done a great job of handling that situation without a heavy handed approach over the years. To the point of the forums pretty much being self moderated, so for that I am very thankful. Now back to my arch nemesis a solid built suspended axle with drive and steering for my rock crawler. Peace out
  4. Very neat idea, thinking outside the box but I always thought the term park was reserved for automatic transmissions. Mostly because when the engine is not powering the hydraulics every gear essentially becomes neutral. Where as a manual gearbox uses the non-running engines compression as a brake of sort, or park if you will. I suppose since LEGO fake engines have no compression this could be handy to keep your model from unexpectedly rolling away, down hill or something, other than that it doesn't really have a use, still it is a cool concept. Now all we need is an automatic or hydraulic transmission to put it in.
  5. I have noticed two different kinds, maybe more, the older ones seem stiffer, or thicker if you will, less pliable. The newer ones seem much more pliable, flexible, or thinner I guess. The older ones or thick ones seem to spring open more easily, so I guess chose the one that serves your needs better.
  6. Don't mean to nit-pick and certainly anyone can call it whatever they like but to me it looks more like an alligator than a crocodile.
  7. Lol, yeah not to say yours is overly complicated or anything, it is in fact great, especially for what it offers. Was just saying my version will be much simpler with out some of the cool features you have implemented. I often just have a hard time actually getting started and this gives me something to shoot for, or a jumping off point if you will. Thanks, I did locate the file and downloaded it, great work. You can be sure if I use your design you will get credited, thanks again.
  8. So ironic, I am currently in need of just such a setup and struggling with a proper design. So this is right on time, hopefully I can borrow some of these design features. Thanks for sharing, although my design will be much more simplified it gives my some great ideas.
  9. Other that cutting the hoses the wrong lengths, I think the biggest reason for having pre-cut hoses is so little kids don't have to actually use a sharp cutting tool. People specifically kids tend to do the most ridiculous things, that most would never imagine doing.
  10. Yes exactly, wondering what the speediness is of both, or is it such a minor difference to not even matter. So I guess I will do a little more testing to see which one fits my needs. Those cross section illustrations are very handy as well, thanks.
  11. Something I have been wondering about lately and hopefully someone knows. Recently I have been considering using linear actuators for steering on a moc I am about to start. Do they all operate at the same speed or do they go in and out slower or faster depending on what size they are? I have checked they ones I have and they all seem to have relatively the same speed, just not sure. Thanks for reading.
  12. Amazing dedication there, looks really good and words could hardly describe just how epic your layout has become and growing I'm sure. Strangely the one question I have is how do you deal with dust?
  13. Yeah I suppose I would be down with that, like the previous six wide white Porsche. I mean they have done it before so why wouldn't they do it again. To be honest though building the same set twice, is kind of like reading the same book twice and is something I rarely enjoy doing.
  14. I really hope not, since there are still so many other great vehicles, I would rather see, instead of a slot being taken by just a simple recolor, something I could easily do myself with existing instructions.
  15. Looks really good and this car was the first hot rod I had back in the late 70's, so it's always been on of my favorites. That big block would really chew up the pavement, lol. One area though, I think would benefit from some minor changes, is the lower front portion of the front fenders, where the bumper meets the fender. Looks a little too flat and box like. Never the less it doesn't change the fact that you have built a fantastic model with a special place in my heart. Thanks for sharing.
  16. I for one sure appreciate all the divisions, keeps me from wasting time searching or viewing models I have no interest in, no matter how great.
  17. That is one of my least favorites, so far, still need the Ford set. Don't really like the way the sides are put together, more specifically the door area. Still it was a fun build. I actually messed around a bit with it, changed the door area and added a windscreen, actually looks pretty good, although it no longer looks like the car it is supposed to represent.
  18. Yes exactly how I go about it, well said and in my opinion this is how more people should try and point out poor design choices. It is like being the boss at work, if all you do is reprimand people, soon all your employees will hate you. Sometimes you must go out of your way to express what they are doing right, so your criticisms actually carry weight. And somebody doesn't rage kill you, lol.
  19. Not sure why it bothers me so much, that I followed the instructions to the letter but it doesn't look the same as the pictures, oh well.
  20. Just picked up the Supra set and currently working on it. For some odd reason the lower back section, the exhaust pipes and bumper don't fit quite right, doesn't look like the pictures. It seems like it should move forward about half a stud to look like the pictures in the instructions and on the box. I have double and triple checked and I am sure I am assembling it correctly. It almost seems like the four 1x1 round plates with bar have a little tab on the bar that prevents the assembly from sliding forward enough to look like the pictures. Has anybody else noticed this issue or is it supposed to be like that and the pictures are just throwing me off, because of the angle or perspective they just don't look the same. On page 24 of the instructions it clearly shows the edge of the black tiles, or bumper to be flush with the yellow printed tile immediately above it. No matter what I do mine clearly sticks out a half stud past the yellow printed tile. Are the instructions just wrong, I mean it shows it that way in several other pictures as well.
  21. Not a big fan of a like system, it adds nothing in my opinion. In fact when I do comment on liking a particular moc, I like to add exactly what I like about it. Anything else just seems superfluous and a lazy way to comment. And of course there is nothing to stop somebody from simply responding with this. 👍
  22. Yes a rather astute observation, however and I may be wrong but the 1968 Corvette does actually have a sticker that represents the gas cap, in the middle of the rear deck.
  23. Funny story, earlier I was at Target, looking at all the new sets and when I saw the price of a small Marvel set, I swore to never buy another LEGO set with Disney branding. I was looking at the Black Panther Dragon Flyer set, as it was the only one I thought I could afford. When I saw the price I flipped my lid $39.99 for 202 pieces, it really pushed me over the edge and I vowed never would I buy another Marvel set ever. Then when I got home and was preparing to write a rather scathing letter to TLG, I looked up the set, $19.99, lol, still a bit overpriced but nowhere near what Target has it listed for. Anyway, looking forward to eventually picking these sets up and so glad to see it wasn't, $40, lol.
