  1. I was glad to see this set come out, for the figures mostly and not for the reasons others are discussing here and when it all started I wanted to chime in but I didn't, I just listened. Didn't want to fan the flames so to speak. All my life I have been drawn to unique/different individuals and thoroughly enjoy listening to their thoughts and view points, I find it very interesting. So for me anyway, LEGO has scored big with this set, thanks for all the valuable insight and mindful discussion, for those that kept it civil, I have gained a bit more respect and understanding for people that are different from me. Never a bad thing. Can't really beat the price and there are many elements I can use from this set, so I will definitely pick it up at some point. All the other stuff is an added bonus, even though at first I was abit concerned about the direction of this thread. And the other one too.
  2. I guess it would make sense, as before PU, we had lights to go with PF, so I would expect at some time they would do the same with PU. Unless of course they already have and I am just not aware of it, lol.
  3. Maybe wheel arches would be your best bet.
  4. Hate to admit it but those ships look great.
  5. Funny how this thread appears out of the blue, right when I have been looking at this set on my display cabinet. Been trying to decide whether to break it down or modify it some, it has sat there so long. I really like what you have done with the bucket and since I have the parts, I think I will try your setup, simple yet excellent playability, thanks. I never really liked the original bucket but was always to lazy to mod it, lol. One question though, what string to you use? Also always felt the boom should be longer as well but then the string is simply to short to do much with it. Plus I think then some weight needs to be added to the back of the cab, unsure what to use but I would like for it to be a LEGO solution. Anyway really like what you have accomplished and thanks for the inspiration, the thing I seem to be lacking in the most anymore.
  6. Growing up in the Arizona desert, left some LEGO in the car for a couple of days on the dash, they became quite unusable afterwards, extreme warping. Now that was summer heat in a closed car in direct sunlight, so it does happen but we are talking 120 degrees+ Fahrenheit, sorry too lazy to convert it. Suffice it to say though a human would die under similar conditions.
  7. Yes, I was think other products, than LEGO. As I would imagine it is not feasible. It would be kind of cool to have a few recycled bricks.
  8. Are the bricks technically recyclable, honestly not sure.
  9. I also thought those tires looked a little too small on the back of that dragster as well as the front tires are to big but I suppose they did as well as they could as mentioned. I always like when those cars launch off the start the back wheels get huge when they start spinning. So cool to see in real life.
  10. Thank you for that link, it certainly puts things into perspective. I think a lot of people would benefit from that sort of knowledge, before just saying TLG should make this part or that part, or new molds for old parts. Sure have to produce and sell quite a few pieces just to break even.
  11. Please disregard quote box, I cannot seem to get rid of it. Anyway, put a bunch of those rings together for the front of a steamroller/pavement roller machine. Stack them for barrels or other sorts of containers, definitely will try to think up some use, not many though right off the top of my head, I'm aftaid.
  12. Jaw dropping, amazing what you have achieved, looks good and functions just as well. Not really my cup of tea but hats off to your skills. It is so huge.
  13. I won't even pretend to know what I am talking about but I do know those molds are very expensive to make and they can't just whip them out willy nilly, as easily as popping corn. I would actually love to learn more about exactly how they are made.
  14. Lol, read the first post with great interest but now, well nevermind.
  15. As one who is generally stoked to see new SC sets, buy them all. I must say I have never been as underwhelmed as I am with these sets, I sure hope they are better than what I am seeing here. They just don't look very good at all, to me and why is that Dodge set so pricey. I will likely buy all the sets, always do but if they are as mediocre as they appear to be, it will be my last time and I would expect the line will become much less popular. I do reserve final judgement until I have sets in hand and really hope to be pleasantly surprised, as literally Speed Champions is one of my all time favorite themes. To me they just look like a 1x1 quarter round flat plate.
  16. Looks like a good combination for a US based backhoe/loader type tractor.
  17. They make them in outer space, that is why they cost so much, lol, sorry couldn't resist.
  18. Sorry can't seem to get rid of this damn quote box. Anyway saw 76176 and 76199 on the store shelves earlier today, if anyone cares, at Target. Almost picked up the Shang Chi but didn't, decided to wait for a sale, just didn't seem like a very good value to me. But I did like the little yellow car.
  19. Yes exactly, thanks, man how I hated those wheels. I suppose it is possible I just played with them to much. It did cause me to discover studs forward building though and I remember building some rather good helicopters with those wheels, kind of even impressed old people, parents. As it was the only way I could use the wheels, after the rubber broke off and the axles wouldn't stay in the hole, unless it was pointed straight up. Turned them into rotors. Bringing back some damn fond memories. I can still remember my dad asking why I built them that way, studs forward, when clearly that is not how the box showed other models. I gave my standard answer, I dunno.
  20. Not sure if this qualifies or not but I remember from my childhood, late sixties. The grey tires on the wheels would split and come off the rims, rather quickly and the wheels also had non-removable metal pins that inserted in holes in bricks that also wore out rather quickly too. So the wheels would constantly fall off of vehicles. I have yet to come across any of these in the wild and now question whether they actually existed or not.
  21. Apparently I have been living under a rock, had no idea this set was about to drop. Really looking forward to seeing it, probably a day one buy for me.
  22. I actually think the dragons and mechs are pretty good and just when I was about through with Ninjago, I see the new sets, kind of like the looks of the tropical island themes. As far as the media side of it, never seen any Ninjago shows ever, even previews or anything. Not unusual for me though don't really watch any movies at all or TV shows. Probably from all those years as a kid when my dad would tease me about the boob tube or idiot box as he liked to call it. Although I do enjoy some sports and tech type shows. I do agree, great value and interesting parts and builds, have no use for my hundreds of Lloyds, Coles and Kais though
  23. This and I don't mean it in an insulting manner. I even have a few 4+ sets. LEGO has been really taking the adult market by storm, the past year or so. Mostly though I was poking fun at all the people that used that excuse in the past for over simplified instructions and uncomplicated builds, when they where clearly wrong with their unpopular opinion.
  24. I feel like I have been thru all this before when grocery stores went from paper to plastic. I miss my paper bags.
  25. LEGO is for children only, so don't complain because instructions are over simplified.
