  1. Yeah that poly-bag caught me off guard last week at Wallmart, went ahead and picked one up, might go back and get another.
  2. So do these "sketches" have the new magnet piece? Could explain why they are so pricey. Plus then I could cover my fridge with LEGO and make it look like I have a LEGO refrigerator. I tried to follow the link to find out but it took to long to load up, so I couldn't tell. I do agree though they seem outlandishly expensive.
  3. Simply amazing, this is what technic should be all about. Very good job Alfred, hats off to your skills and ingenuity. Trains, Technic and pneumatics, what more could one ask for.
  4. Not necessarily wowed by this set but I am sure I will get it none the less. If for no other reason than to finally get one of those ball and socket things, out of my immense collection, that part is conspicuously missing. That and the new frame. Kind of reminds me of that funny car dragster set from a few years back, with that wheelie gizmo gimmick thing and I don't really care for the looks but what the hell.
  5. Cool, when I first looked at it, I thought V8 powered shopping cart, for the aggressive shopper.
  6. Somehow missed this thread first time around. Glad I saw it this time though. Exceptional choice of vehicles to reproduce, personal favorite is the cyclone although these are all very well done and it shows you put a lot of thought into your model's. Highly impressed, glad to see the update. Really can't say how much I enjoyed these builds.
  7. Hey now, I really like this, good job making it like something LEGO might actually put out. Very well done without being overdone.
  8. It is indeed very compact and well done I must say. No wasted space here. Obviously it looks very good but to me the highlight is the suspension and steering. I do think it would look better if the rims were turned around so the other side showed, although I can see why they are the way they are. Great work.
  9. I think i like that better than the A model. Looks pretty damn good.
  10. Yeah I actually have that set, it was much better than I thought it would be and was going pass on it. Ended up picking it up on a 60% off clearance sale at Target though. I may have to gather the pieces back together and rebuild it. Totally forgot I had it, thanks for mentioning it. Definitely will, if we do end up getting some dock sets.
  11. Good idea, I also thought after building that set, it could really use a trailer. Your trailer is a perfect match for such a vehicle, I was thinking more along the lines of a cage trailer for the lion, but I do like your idea. I think though the trailer would look much better if you were to move the tandem axles forward a stud or two. Anyway great job.
  12. I always just thougt City referred to the scale basically, meaning that City sets kind of fit together with each other making for a better play experience. So I would think City would never end, of course I am probably totally off base and it is only my perception that no one else shares with me.
  13. Great job, I like you have always been a space nerd too. I remember having a Saturn V rocket and launch tower toy back it 69' it was about 3 feet tall and was always one of my favorite toys, when I was 7 years old anyway. I really appreciate what you have done here, always like girder works for some reason. One of these days I hope to build one for my Saturn V but until then I might just take a shot at a much smaller version shuttle tower. Thanks for the inspiration and ideas, look forward to seeing your next project.
  14. All I can say is, well done. This is one of the things I like about the new Speed Champions cars, they are more receptive to being modded and you have done a very inspirational job on this one.
  15. Absolutely not bad looking at all, still love them, with limited display room I choose to not display them with the newer ones, which in my opinion look much better. I get the feeling that with all the changes they have made, they now have free reign to revisit many of the older designs.
  16. Yes Alex that is a great idea and something I will likely do, thanks. My skills at creating a good looking SC type car are somewhat lacking and to be honest I have a lot more fun with technic, when it comes to MOCs. However I do like to constantly tinker and will likely have a go at few of them. Since I have such a large supply of extra parts though I will probably dismantle the ones I have and keep them intact as the sets they came in. Sometimes I have such a hard time deciding on what to keep as individual sets or turn into parts packs.
  17. Just built the F8, simply amazing, totally love the whole process. Minimal stickers, lots of interesting techniques, it is a very tight build with loads of details and the new windscreen is absolutely fabulous. I was on the fence with these new Speed Champions sets but now I am totally sold on them. The F8 being my third build of the new line, after the Quattro and the Nissan. Really stoked to build the Jaguars now which I picked up today. These are everything SC should have been from the start. Now I am going to dismantle my 30 or so six wide sets and put them in storage, hell I might even just get rid of them all. They really don't fit with the new ones at all, they actually look ridiculously comical in fact when displayed next to the newer sets, such a shame.
  18. Yep they use jumper plates to offset the steering wheel, not sure why though. I think it has to be done that way to make other parts work out right. I think maybe some other steering wheel solution, besides the one on the 1x2 plate would have to be used to make it line up better with the driver. Really have'nt messed with it yet still trying to track down the rest of the sets. They will be available at the LEGO store after the first, right? I think the only reason I found them at Target so early was because some employee mistakenly put them on the shelves. Sets were really flying off the shelves right before Christmas, there were absolutely no Star Wars sets on the shelf, it was crazy.
  19. Speaking of honesty and negativity, this is just the kind of remark that made me choose to not post or visit this site for nearly a year now. I see things haven't really changed much. Just trying to take my mind off of bigger problems and have a little fun with my chosen hobby, thanks.
  20. And it is even more noticeable on the GT-R, I guess because of the longer wheelbase and the 1 plate rake. Still I do seem to be warming up to the new SC line. Some of the shaping techniques are pretty cool, just make sure you keep the driver in the car and not displayed next to it. And I still am having a hard time accepting the off-set steering wheels, might have to mod that somehow.
  21. Okay, just finished both the GT-R and the Quattro, it is definitely a different building style than the old ones. A lot of bigger elements and some new elements, for me anyway. I still enjoyed building them, I just don't seem to care for the results so much. The olds ones actually seem more rounded and curvy compared to these new ones, even though I am sure these are more "scale" correct. They just seem boxy and squared off and yes part of that is the Quattro's design in general but still. Also, with these two sets anyway, the base chassis is surprisingly similar, many of the older ones had cool little tricks here and there, that made building each one a little different. I know I have only built two, so that might change, I hope so. To me it is a totally different monster with the same name, Speed Champions.
  22. And yes the minifigures look like little kids standing next to the cars, they can't even peer into the car as their eyes are below the top of the doors. Also the steering wheels are a bit off to the right of where the driver sits.
  23. Been away for awhile but I picked up a couple of the new SC cars at Target the other day. Haven't really been following things lately, so they caught me totally off guard. Got the Quattro and the GT-R. First thing I noticed was price increase, then I notice several other differences mainly something people have been bemoaning forever, two wide seating yay. Different pieces and quite a few other changes. Still on the fence though, being a huge SC fan. The new ones don't look good at all next to the old ones. The build styles have totally changed as well, just not a fan, yet anyway. Who knows maybe I will grow to like them, they just seem so bulky and boxy, through the use of larger elements. I am sure the dimensions are more scale accurate but they just seem huge with tiny tires. Only time will tell, sure hope they grow on me. So far it just seems like a similar center core surrounded by different skins.
  24. Good News, glad to hear we are getting another SC car this year. I always suspected they might do something like this since this year's wave was smaller than usual. Hopefully it looks pretty good, still I guess it doesn't matter, I will get it anyway.
  25. You should check out some of PunkTacoNYC's crawlers, here on these forums. They have excellent suspension characteristics and he would probably be glad to help you out.
