  1. I agree with you. I am also hoping for a re-release of CC. If ever we were lucky enough for this to happen I hope it is re-designed to include a detailed interior and not just a straight re-release of the original. My only concern is that they don't do this instead of releasing an all new set next January.
  2. I find it hard to imagine Lego ever existing without a City theme. I think they may change the name and branding at some point in the future but I think there will always be a theme that covers everyday vehicles and buildings in a City/Town setting.
  3. Thanks very much. Not sure how durable these printed roads would be if they were being played with regularly by children. They also have a tendency to slide around a bit so if you were making them for your children it would probably be a good idea to stick them down to a board, play table or something like that. I don't think they'd work very well if kids were playing with them on a carpet or a soft surface either. So I think these work well for building up a layout for display but are probably not the best choice for children to play with.
  4. I don't build my own MOCs currently. I absolutely love collecting sets and building with lego but not sure I've got the skills to build something as intricate as a modular building using nothing but my imagination. However since becoming a member of eurobricks I have seen some really fantastic and inspiring work by the very talented people who post their models on here. I love looking at the ideas other people come up with and even when the builds don't particularly feature a style or subject matter that interests me, it's still great fun seeing what different people can create. I have to say this is a great topic you've created @LegoModularFan as it brings together everyone's ideas into a single place and is a great source of inspiration for anyone hoping to start their own MOC projects. So although I don't build my own MOCs at the moment it is definitely something I'd like to have a go at. I think if I do then I will probably start out by creating digital designs using LDD or something similar. I think this would be a more flexible and obviously cheaper option for me if I was starting out building MOCs.
  5. I think the main reason is Lepin probably use just one factory and produce much fewer bricks than Lego do. Lego churn out millions of bricks using multiple different machine in different countries around the world. It must be a very difficult task for them to make all the colours match perfectly. I'm not making up excuses for Lego though. Considering the high costs of Lego sets it is a bit disappointing when you buy a set and find their are variations in some of the colours.
  6. Yes, maybe I was looking at it from an Adult perspective rather than the viewpoint of how children would play with them. Not sure if I explained properly in the first post but when I was talking about interchangeable modules I didn't mean the big Creator Expert Modulars, which I absolutely love. I meant the new 3 in 1 Creator "Modular" sets like this example below.
  7. Thanks a lot, that's very kind. Thanks very much. I might consider this at some point as a few people have made comments asking if I could sell them. Before doing this though I'd want to do a few more designs first. Currently I've only made the ones seen in the pictures but it would be good to create a full package containing corner pieces and straight sections without the bus lanes and parking bays as I realise not everyone would want these on their roads. I've no idea how I'd go about selling them though so I would need to look in to the different options. Also it is fine making these for personal use but not sure if I would be breaking any copyright laws if I attempted to sell them. I don't think this would be an issue as the second batch I designed with the textured road and bus lanes etc are completely my own design and not rip offs of anything that Lego sells. Anyway if I do decide to do this in the future I will post the details here.
  8. Not only do those "Modular" 3in1 buildings look a bit of a mess, the whole "modular" system of these sets seems a bit pointless to me. The idea behind them is that kids can take them apart and re-arrange the modules to create different designs for the buildings. But hang on a minute - hasn't that always been the whole point of Lego anyway? Lego sets have always been marketed as toys that can be taken apart and built in to anything that you like, especially Creator sets. Kids don't need interchangeable modules to be able to do that.
  9. I like the idea of station being made up from lots of modular elements. Maybe it could consist of a single station building with waiting room, ticket office, cafe etc. The platforms could then be made up from several small sections that can be arranged and connected together in any way you like. You could make the platforms as long or short as you like. You could have a single long platform or 2 shorter ones. This would give a lot of possibilities and would be a good flexible approach for a station. It would work either as a terminus building as I had suggested in an earlier post or it would work equally well as a large through station.
  10. Thanks very much to everyone who has made such kind comments on the new pics I posted yesterday. Glad you like them.
  11. I've often wondered how a train station could be re-created as a Modular building and the only way I can think it would work is if it was made as a station terminus with the platforms extending away from the back of the building. Please excuse this very crude and rough image below, I've just knocked this together to try and show what I mean. The building itself wouldn't necessarily have to look anything like this and it wouldn't need to have the canopy over the platforms, it's just intended as rough illustration and to show how this general concept could be made to fit in to a modular street. I don't for one second think Lego would ever release a set like this as part of their Creator Modular range though. The set would end up being absolutely huge and no doubt very expensive. Also the best part of the building is at the back which would seem odd for a modular. None the less I think if I was going to create my own MOC of a modular station, this is probably the way I would approach it.
  12. Some of the bricks are definitely a darker shade. It's bad enough finding bricks like this is a set but you would have thought they'd at least of sorted them out for the product photos.
  13. Do you mean the slope pieces making up the roof on the Jurassic Park building? I see what you mean, it looks as if there is some colour variation in the photo.
  14. Just noticed Jangbricks has posted his review of the Avengers Sanctum Santorum. I bet it wont be long before somebody mods this in to a Modular building.
  15. Thanks guys. I was just interested to see what a Lego City might look like with realistic weather rather than the permanent sunny settings we're usually used to seeing in Lego photographs. @LegoModularFan if you're interested in Corner Deli you might be interested to see this Mod of the set by @Murdoch17. It looks really nice.
  16. Maybe next years Creator Modular building will be a station. I've no idea how they'd make one work as a modular but I know there are a lot of people who would love to see one made. Every year when rumors start circulating about the next Modular it always seems like a railway station is high up on a lot of peoples wish lists.
  17. NEW PICTURES ADDED Here are a few new pictures of my roads. These are a bit different, I've used some photoshop trickery to add some weather and lighting effects to the pictures which gives quite a dramatic effect. Feel free to let me know what you think. Damn! This rain is sure to make the stickers peel on my Pizza Van!
  18. No problem. It's a great looking building, it's surprising they'd go such great lengths to create this only to use it in a single advert. You're welcome. Oh yeah, hadn't noticed that about GG.
  19. I found it here. http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Magazine:LEGO_Club_Magazine_September-October_2012_(US) It looks as if somebody had scanned the page from the magazine for this web page so I downloaded the pic and straightened it out and cleaned it up as best I could. I do have a higher resolution copy. I've added it below.
  20. This looks really nice! You've added some much needed extra seating to the diner and I like the inclusion of extra food items on the tables. The car looks great with a roof. I must get round to building my own copy of DD. It is still lying in my wardrobe unopened.
  21. Think I've found the picture you were discussing a few days ago? Is this the one? It's from the October 2012 Lego Club magazine.
  22. As mentioned previously Assembly Square is my fave followed by Parisian restaurant. I like all the sets currently on sale but if I could get my hands on any of the old sets I think I'd have to go for green grocer. If ever lego decided to do a remake of any of the old sets I think I'd prefer to see this one re-released over cafe corner. Here here! It would be great if someone could set up a new poll for this. Am I correct in saying we need to have made more than 500 posts before we're allowed to create polls?
  23. Just wondered does anyone own 60132 service station? I have been thinking of getting this set for a while but always felt it was bit expensive for what it was. It's now been retired but Argos are in the UK are selling it off for £41.99. There is also a discount code to get a further £5 off all lego sets over £25 so it would only end up costing me £36.99. Would anybody recommend this set as a good one to get and do you think that is a decent price for it?
  24. @Overcold I have just finished reading through your opinions on the modulars which I very much enjoyed. Almost like a mini review of each set. Assembly square is also my favourite modular, in fact it's my favourite lego set out of all the sets I've ever owned.
