  1. Out of interest I noticed that the Pirate Roller Coaster has got a picture of a Ferris wheel in the background. I realise this is only the box art and this is highly speculative but I wonder if this could be an indicator that we might get a Creator 3 in 1 ferris wheel next year. Maybe the Pirate Coaster is just the first in a planned series of smaller fairground sets which would serve as a simpler and more affordable alternative to the big Creator Expert fairground sets. This would be similar to what they did with the Corner Deli, Bike Shop and Cafe, toy/grocery shop which all sort of served as mini cousins of the Expert Modular buildings. Anyway as I said I'm basing this entire theory on pure speculation, but I reckon it would make sense for them to do this and would be pretty cool as well!
  2. I'm veering off topic a bit here but I notice that the 3in1 Pirate Roller Coaster due out in the summer has got a picture of a ferris wheel in the background. I realise this is just the box artwork but it would be really cool if they followed up the Pirate Coaster with a smaller ferris wheel next year, released as a Creator 3in1 set.
  3. I noticed that ride in the background too. Not sure what they're called but it's one of those tall tower things that lifts people up to the top and then drops them back down. I wonder if this could be a candidate for a future set.
  4. Even though the pirate roller coaster is obviously much smaller I bet it would still look good alongside the bigger roller coaster and other expert fairground sets. I would love to own all these and make up a massive fairground display.
  5. I notice someone has created a vid on YouTube showing and discussing the leaked coaster image. I still think this set looks as if it will be awesome. Just wondering how stable the whole thing will be though with all those tall columns making up the framework of the structure. I bet it will be a pig to move around once it's built.
  6. I agree. Lego is a great hobby and nothing to feel ashamed about. There are plenty of adults who collect model cars, trains, dolls, jigsaw puzzles etc but nobody bats an eyelid about that. You could argue that these are all adults collecting kids toys as well so I don't see why lego should be looked on any differently.
  7. I'm the same age and I completely agree with you. Paper catalogues are very nostalgic for me. Growing up in the 80s I always used to look forward to picking up the latest lego catalogue from my local toys r us. There was something magical about flicking through the pages and seeing all the new sets. I think we take it for granted nowadays but back in the days before Internet, the first anyone knew of the new sets was when we actually saw the thing for sale on the shelves or in the pages of the catalogues. So even though nowadays we all know way in advance about what new sets are coming out, personally I still like to have a good old fashioned catalogue to flick through as well.
  8. The Brick built "Coaster" lettering reminds me of the lettering on Downtown Diner. I wouldn't be surprised if this is also a Mike Psiaki design. I believe last year's Carousel was designed by him as well.
  9. This is the big Creator Expert Coaster with the image that has leaked today. I assumed @jonwil was asking about the Creator 3in1 Pirate Roller Coaster, due out in the summer which has got grey track. It seems that by the time these 2 sets have been released we will have tracks in red, grey and the purple ones from Joker Manor.
  10. Wow this looks amazing and huge! I would have thought they will include the option for power functions. Towards the bottom of the pic you can see the small control wheel to power the coaster manually, so I bet there will be an option to swap this out for a motor instead.
  11. I'm just hoping they will provide us with the option of adding a power functions system so that the coaster can be motorised. I assume it's a pretty safe bet that they will do this though.
  12. Just been looking at this on Flickr. It looks great. This was one of my favourite creator sets from last year and you've made some good improvements to it, especially by creating a more spacious interior.
  13. I like the look of this a lot! I agree with @Digger of Bricks, the interior is very detailed especially considering it's only 16 studs wide. The micro figs and the mini milennium Falcon look really good.
  14. Woh!!!! This is a seriously impressive looking MOC. I agree with @LegoModularFan's comment about the exposed studs on the face of the grey building. Normally I would want to avoid the studs being on show but here it helps to create awesome texture. I love all the colours that have been used and the domed roof on the tan coloured building looks top notch. Can't wait to see the full reveal of this awesome looking MOC!
  15. The look grey. Same as the ones featured in the City Mining set 601881
  16. I like this idea. Personally I don't mind it when lego include a vehicle in the modular sets. As long as the vehicle is relevant to the theme of the set and not just included for the hell of it. On the other hand I think in sets like DD the parts allowance used on the pink car could have been put to better use adding more detail to the interior of the building instead. So a separate sub theme of detailed mini fig scale vehicles designed to go with the modulars but sold separately would be great and no doubt very popular with a lot of people. I also liked it when lego released the flower cart polybag in 2015 to go with DO. I'd like some more of these please Lego.
  17. It's your choice. I suppose it depends on how much you mind having differing styles of buildings alongside each other in your city. Personally I think it works well to have a street containing a mixture of official modulars and mocs as well. It doesn't bother me too much if the styles of mocs and official lego sets clash as you could argue that many of the official modulars don't work all that well with each other anyway. You mention that you might consider designing some mocs in a bigger scale to capture more detail. Bare in mind that if you do this though that everything else, vehicles, roads etc will need to be made in the same bigger scale too.
  18. Thank you very much and welcome to Eurobricks. The printer I use is a Konica Minolta Bizhub Pro C5500. Officially it is only supposed to take card up to 300gsm but I have managed to get small amounts of 400gsm through it without any issues. Some of my more recent roads were printed o 300gsm though which still works just as well. It is standard CMYK printer and all the designs are printed on to white card. When I designed them I gave the white road markings a slight transparency effect so that some of the road texture could be seen through them. That's probably why it looks as if the white lines are printed over the top of the roads, but actually everything is just printed in CMYK. Many thanks. I created the background image myself using photoshop and the official box art for the Modular buildings. I've included the picture below. Thanks a lot and glad you like my Convenience Store MOC Yes there will definitely be more road designs coming. Watch this space!
  19. All three of today's picks are awesome but ~Unnamed by @Sheriff von Snottingham is seriously impressive. I also love Water Palace/Palatul Apelor by Emilian It helps that this one has been photographed next to Town Hall as it gives a good reference for the size of the building.
  20. Not usually a huge technic fan but this thing caught my eye as soon as I saw it. Looks awesome to me. Great review as well.
  21. I think this set lends itself really well to being converted in to a modular and @tkatt your version looks awesome.
  22. Great!! My prediction is that we'll get the official announcement from TLG week commencing 23rd April.
  23. Great! And even if your MOC is not intentionally inspired by French architecture, some of that inspiration is bound to have rubbed off on you. Look forward to seeing this!
