Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I still think when the set is finally revealed it will probably be something that none of us would have expected. Just like last year when the diner was first leaked, it was such a different concept that a lot of people (myself included) thought it was fake to start with. I would love a classic theatre or art nouveau style design as several other people have said. I think a classical style building is more like the style we could expect if Jamie Berrard was the designer though. I'm assuming it will be another Mile Psiaki design this year and for that reason I'm half expecting he could take a similar approach to the diner again. Not necessarily art deco, but something that he feels would be pushing the modular series in a different direction. Anyway lots of assumptions and guesses from me there. Hopefully we will get the answer within the next few days. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I would love to see this. An elegant theatre/concert building is definitely high up on my wish list. I'd had another idea as well. Last year we saw the modular series move in to a different era and setting of the 1950's. What about if they jumped forward in time again and made some sort of disco, dance hall type of thing, maybe with a 1970's disco vibe. This was the first thing that popped in to my head when I read the cryptic mention of "sound" in the LEGO tweet earlier today. I know this doesn't sound like the typical kind of subject for a modular building but after last year's shift in style, I guess anything is possible. I hope I'm wrong though, I'd much rather see a classical style concert theatre. -
I'm not sure what to make of the house boat. Over the past couple of years it seems that Creator have abandoned the realistic style of models in some of their sets and have changed the style to look more like something that would come out of a child's imagination. Overall it's not too bad and I think it will be one of those sets that looks much better in the flesh than it does on the box artwork. The secondary builds do look pretty good.

This is what I did with my project, except I designed it digitally first and then I made the brick version later on. The problem with digital LEGO building is that it's difficult to guarantee the models are structurally sound so it is a good idea to build the model with bricks as well just to make sure everything works.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I agree. I don't think this should be taken as proof that the new set will be a police station. They only gave out that particular response because the person had asked about a police station. If they'd asked whether the set was gonna be a hotel, post office or museum, they probably would have received a different but similarly cryptic response. However in the reply LEGO said "you will have to wait and see what our designers have planned". So at least we can take this as confirmation that there definitely WILL be a new modular set coming out! -

I really like the Harvester too. Just been looking at some new images that show the back of the packaging. It shows what the set looks like with the harvester placed on to the back of the trailer. It looks very good in my opinion. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Actually I'm wondering if this could be the reason they've made us wait so long over the past 2 years before revealing the new modular. I can't remember any occasions in the past when they have announced a new Creator Expert set whilst there is still another one in the pipeline waiting to be released. It's only over the last 2 years that we've had an Expert set released during November (Taj Mahal and Wind Turbine). Prior to 2017 we would get the Winter Village set in September and then the Modular would be the next one, and would end up being announced around October. So I think this could be why we've had to wait until the end of November over the past 2 years. Basically because LEGO only want to be promoting one Creator Expert set at a time. So they are making us wait until the November release is out of the way first before unveiling their next set. It's pretty frustrating for us as fans! But I suppose it makes good business sense to them! -
I agree with all the other other comments. These are brilliant, so intricate and amazingly detailed.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It does seem like a painfully long wait. I would love to see a leaked image now or even just something that gave us the name of the new set. However now that we're so close to the official reveal anyway, there is a part of me that would just like to wait and see the official pictures in all their glory without having my opinion of the set spoiled by a dodgy leaked promo image. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I don't think we're gonna get any announcements from TLG this side of the Black Friday weekend. If they revealed the new modular now it would just steal all the thunder from their other Creator Expert set due out tomorrow, The Vestas Wind Turbine. I also think that if they revealed the highly anticipated new set at Black Friday it could cause some people to hang on to their money instead of snapping up all the deals that LEGO will be pushing over the weekend. I think it's more likely they'll wait until after Cyber Monday before they reveal the new set. But either way I'm sure that if there is gonna be a new set in January - we will know what it is by the end of next week! -
That MOC is incredibly beautiful! So detailed and the colours all work together perfectly!

This is a fantastic little MOC. Reminds me of the old "Penny Farthing" bicycles. The pics with Santa look really great. You should add these to the Eurobricks Christmas Raffle thread!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Just checked myself and yes it looks as if Brick Bank is temporarily out of stock! Might be worth using the online chat to ask when they expect it back in stock. Although the set is retiring soon I would have thought they will still be getting some more stock at some point otherwise it would simply say "retired" on the product listing. -
This is very nice. It looks very detailed I can imagine this must come pretty close to 3000 parts limit required by LEGO Ideas. Gotta say... I reckon this is Bricky Brick's best creation yet!

I've just had a look on the Smyths toys website. It seems to be in stock at most of their stores at the minute. You would be best to buy it from a physical Smyths store if you have one near to you because at the minute there is a voucher to get £10 off if you spend over £100. The voucher is only valid in stores though. -
Glad you like the roads and my photoshop work. I've work with photoshop every day for the past 19 years as part of my day job, so have learnt a few tricks during that time. I designed all these roads at work several months ago using software called CorelDraw. Since then we have stopped using Corel and upgraded to different software. Unfortunately as a result I can't open the files anymore but when i get round to it I'm hoping to re-create some new and better road designs using the new software. It's a different story with the cobblestones though. They were by far the simplest ones to create. I just used a repeating cobble pattern I found on Google, scaled it to roughly the right size and then printed them off on square sheets the same size as a standard road plate. The only thing I added was a thin strip of pavement running along the edges but I still think they'd look good without that. Here is the cobble pattern I used.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
The new fire station does look pretty nice. Much smaller than the last fire station but hopefully that will make it a bit cheaper too. Shame it doesn't come with a fire engine. Looks like a fire car, drone and jet ski are the vehicles included. I also quite like the little front loader vehicle. I know we've seen these countless times in LEGO City but this looks like a nice cheap little set. Looking forward to seeing the first images of "60239 Police Patrol Car". Hope this doesn't turn out to be another "4+" set. -
I think as an international toy manufacturer LEGO has no choice but to steer clear of subjects like religion, politics or anything else that could risk upsetting different groups of people. However I would absolutely love to see LEGO make a church as part of their winter village series. I don't suppose it's likely to happen though.

I think the harvester is the highlight for me. I agree it needs some sort of hopper to dump all of its harvest in to but it still looks like a great set. Now all we need is for LEGO to launch a complete farm sub theme for summer 2019. Wishful thinking! -

Thanks. Here is a topic I made all about those roads. -
I've searched high and low for the video so I assume it has been taken down now. Anyway your description of the boat makes it sound quite a bit like the style of this secondary build from 31051 Creator Lighthouse.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
Yes a space ship would have fitted in perfectly. I always looked on "Juniors" as a sort of stepping stone for kids going from Duplo to normal LEGO. So it made sense for Juniors to adopt a random and varied selection of topics for their sets just as Duplo sets do. It could be argued that nothing has really changed this year except the branding and packaging, but I still think I preferred it when "Juniors" was kept separate from the other LEGO themes. -
Thanks for confirming. Are there leaked images of this set doing the rounds already then?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The bike/coffee shop is the only one I don't own. They are much smaller than the modulars and can't be put side by side with them because of the different style of pavement/sidewalk. I still think they can work quite nicely in combination with the modulars though. Here is a shot of my layout showing them displayed together.
