  1. This is probably not the definition of "classic" for many AFOLs, but for me, classic themes are those that are based upon an archetypal storyline that is not dependent upon tie-in media to help explain and guide the theme to general audiences (Ninjago, Bionicle, etc.). Um, you wouldn't happen to know something about that do you? This is something I've always wondered but have never asked anyone about: Does anyone think that Ninjago would suffer the same fate as Bionicle if the theme were to take a temporary leave of absence?
  2. Here is a good look at Crimson Typhoon from the film for comparison. I should add that the name of this mech is also very clever.
  3. That's a fun little build, I kind of like the black, tan, and red color scheme this creation has. It's funny, but because this saucer-craft isn't perfectly round, it sort of gives it a ho-drum commuter car look as opposed to a sleek, lightspeeding saucer-craft.
  4. Well I wasn't necessarily asking for an Arkham Joker minifigure, only that particular hairpiece recolored in Green, something that designers could consider for a future Joker figure inspired after that version.
  5. Ninjago meets Pacific Rim? SWEEEEEEEEET!
  6. Is there a way to be notified of new poll votes on a topic you are following? There are a few poll based threads I am following, but I have to check back on them periodically myself to see the results; so notifications of new voters would be very convenient. Also for that matter, I noticed that for both topics and members you follow, you don't get notifications if either a followed topic earns new followers or if a followed member follows a topic. Is that just a function not available on this forum, or does it exist and just available for members of a certain status or rank?
  7. GORGEOUS!!! My gosh, not only do I love Duesenberg/Cord/Auburn automobiles, this model now has me wishing Lego could introduce some of those dish parts in chrome!
  8. We NEED Creator to become that theme. It really is the most ideal theme to reintroduce those classics.
  9. That is what I was also expecting, since techno antagonists seem to buck the somewhat already set trend. But the computer virus idea was something I've pondered before in the past, particularly when the theme first came around last year. I had this idea early on for a theme plot involving such a viral infection corrupting Merlock 2.0, who in turn goes on to mentor and brainwash Clay in a Darth Sidious/Anakin Skywalker type relationship. Merlock would then command Clay to form a dark, Ultron like army of androids under the name of... Faltron (that's a blend of Blacktron and Black Falcons by the way ). So in turn, Lance becomes the knights' new leader, inviting an older Robin to join their ranks to become their new fifth knight to combat this new threat.
  10. For that matter, the tenth anniversary of the MCU itself, since Iron Man was the franchise's very first film.
  11. Just saw that this creation has been blogged by The Brothers Brick. https://www.brothers-brick.com/2017/08/26/in-the-blink-of-an-eye/
  12. By the way, is that red exo-arm in your profile picture your creation?
  13. I think this may be the first Technic DCEU Batmobile creation I have ever seen, but maybe there are others; nonetheless, this an excellent rendition of it, and this MOC shows how well a Technic construction works capturing its sharp aesthetic. Excellent work!
  14. Hey LMF, great topic! While any I would love to see any classic theme make a comeback in any form, as you know, Space is my preferred theme of choice.
  15. I would like to see a one brick high version of cone part 3942 (pictured below) done, something similar to an old part MegaBloks had done a long time ago, but that part had molded texturing into its sides. I tried looking for a picture of that piece, but with no success, since no one cares to catalog MegaBloks parts. But who would care anyway.
  16. Most people are thinking that it will only be a commemorative set simply because they may throw some sort of gold/silver/chromed/engraved brick in there, like they have in the past in some instances. But, the best I could hope for would be a brick bucket completely filled with preexisting parts in all new, highly desirable recolors. The second best possibility would be a bucket of parts in specific colors already produced but that are rare and/or hard to find.
  17. I do hope that we will see DK publish a Making of The Lego Movie book in the near future, perhaps during the advent of the sequel's release in 2019. By the way @THELEGOBATMAN, are these pictures yours or somebody else's? If they are yours, do you know if this book contains any close-up images or artwork of the hanging monorail car seen in some promotional images for the film? The same monorail is also seen in the Ninjago Season 8 preview shown off at SDCC.
  18. Does it look like to anyone that Cole's Quake Mech has the Speed Champions canopy piece in Trans. Purple, or is that just perhaps photography reflection?
  19. In a disguised Instagram post that I totally missed, there are four sets for the theme next year from catalog prelims, which are... 10712 Bricks and Gears, 10713 Creative Suitcase, 10714 Blue Baseplate, and 10715 Bricks on a Roll. You mentioned this Instagram post earlier on the modular discussion thread, so I took a look at it again and realized the post contained two other images of the prelims. So that's what those blue baseplate comments were all about.
  20. Only a little while ago, I would have dismissed the idea that we could plausibly get a Creator type GL set, even though the concept would be most ideal for the character. But after seeing the "Build Your Own Adventure" DC book we got this year with John Stewart, now it does not seem as far fetched to see such a set for the theme. A large Batcave Creator-type set would be kind of cool too, essentially a parts bucket with instructions and a ideas booklet to suggest multiple varying Batvehicle builds. I do think kids would really dig a set like that.
  21. This was posted the other day by WB:
  22. This isn't mine, nor does it use actual bricks; but I stumbled across this one in a general image search the other day and thought it was pretty funny, especially if you understand the cross references.
  23. Does anyone think that maybe we could see Lego do sets and/or a CMS based upon past MCU films in the far future? Perhaps on future anniversary dates of various noteworthy MCU films?
  24. Let me guess, the police runner is pursuing other runners for speeding?
  25. Indeed, there really is no better place to apply the Creator alternate build formula for licensed themes other than DC/Marvel SuperHeroes, and your suggestion would be perfect! Now Minecraft may be an exception, but most licensed themes' source material is based upon concrete stuff, not much room for Lego designers to create original designs. With comic based SuperHeroes sets though, it really is up to them, so why not start doing sets with two or more alternate builds?
