  1. Dang, I totally missed that article of The Brothers Brick's, as it's great to see all those new parts (as unfinished as they may be currently) up close! Here are a few other parts which they highlighted that may be of broader significance to others:
  2. Hmm, that's a pairing that sounds like it'll work, given their blocky builds. You know, come to think of it, how come have we not seen a normally proportioned brick built Steve as a set yet? I think you could proportionally capture Minecraft characters in Lego bricks at whatever scale with pretty good results.
  3. Well, there sure are a lot of them already, that's for certain, and it really doesn't seem like they will be slowing down any time soon either. If you think about it, they're a quick and easy way for Lego to offer a contribution to any currently relevant and prevalent licensed property without needing to design minifigures, playsets, and therefore an entire theme for whatever it may be. They have a systematic design formula that need perhaps only one designer and a graphics artist to create a single set. Also, they make for a quick and easy gift-with-purchase set when needed too.
  4. Much like the sets for the former Creator subtheme Designer, which were in essence themed part packs with both instructions and inspiration models. Believe it or not, apparently Lego stopped using that model because many consumers complained that the inspiration builds lacked instructions. I don't know if many would still feel that way today, but I'd certainly like to see Lego return to that model myself. How about three-in-one narrow half-width modulars? They wouldn't have to be brand store exclusives, with a price tag of between US $70-$90, but they still would be branded as Expert level sets with a three-in-one configuration too. Well, the part pack model has been adopted for two Minecraft "Crafting Boxes" so far, and I wonder how well those sets sold compared to the other playsets within the theme. I know, it's Minecraft, where designing stuff is the whole point of the game, but perhaps its popularity has inspired kids to desire the same from other Lego themes. Maybe?
  5. Got it, just as I suspected. Thanks!
  6. Hey, it's great to see you around these parts again @Nabii!
  7. As a single two pack, or two separate sets? Does this say the same for the Ghostbusters and Nightmare Before Christmas sets too?
  8. Hmm, a Space Police line inspired after the American Old West sounds kinda cool. If the last one pitted cops against outlaw bikers, this sounds like the next logical incarnation. Ah yes, the ultimate Lego Space pipe dream. I've always dreamed of a multithemed Space line resembling the City theme, perhaps named something along the lines of, say, Lego Galaxy. Yep, because colorful Classic Spacecraft of old would be more than fitting in a theme like Creator.
  9. LL930 Galaxy Explorer by NeoMMD76 Microscale Sky-Fi Fighters by Fredoichi Lady McZep by @thomassio Ah, okay, thanks for the clarification, as I've never looked at that part alone before. Oh man, that's just too cool! And to hear that he's a source of inspiration for you too... Send him my best wishes for further inspiration for his work, as he's certainly a builder extraordinaire!
  10. So, to start off the second page of this discussion, what's your favorite classic film scores/themes from movies dating from the pre-2000's? My top five probably would be... John Williams's The Raiders' March John Williams's theme to Superman (1978) John Williams's score for Jurassic Park (1993) Danny Elfman's theme to Batman (1989) Alan Silvestri's score to Back to the Future (1985)
  11. Hence Nexo Knights, because with its landbound Classic Spacecraft-like vehicles, it seems like designers ulteriorly were only doing their best to give fans the Space material they wanted while working around Star Wars. It's just that the meshing of Space with Castle ended up annoying a whole other group of fans in the process. B.T.W, unless you did understand, I was just pointing out in my prior post how Ultra Agents had Batman-esque villains too while coexisting alongside the DC Comics theme. Perhaps not as well as other lines, but not so bad as to only have one wave, as Ultra Agents did give us three waves over two years. Maybe that might not have been what Lego hoped for in terms of success, but that's a run I wouldn't consider a disappointment myself. The question is, was Ultra Agents supposed to be a three year "big bang" theme like Ninjago and company, or just a typical two year action theme?
  12. Well I'm certain most of those people would appreciate the minifigure elves in those sets, given how minidolls in Lego's own Elves sets can be a letdown for many.
  13. Ever since the Comic-Con teaser for Ready Player One dropped online, I've been hoping that we would see a fuller length version of that mindblowing rendition of Pure Imagination from Willy Wonka released. Heard during the duration of 0:58 to 1:35 in the teaser, it was produced by Pitch Hammer Music, a production company that apparently creates music specifically for major film studios' movie trailers. Who knew there was such a thing? I'm not going to hold my breath though, as it unfortunately does sound like it was created for that purpose only. But, nonetheless, I'm still waiting to see how this movie's final score will turn out, as it's going to be composed by Alan Silvestri of Back to the Future fame; so, I guess we'll see how it turns out soon enough. Indeed, though I will say, I don't feel it's quite as impactful as John Powell's Test Drive. With the first flight scene in HTTYD, Powell's score just makes the scene, and the piece stands alone by itself with just as much resonance. As for Big Hero 6's First Flight, it's a great piece, but it really needs to be paired with the scene to shine. And speaking of that scene, I love the part where they're flying amongst those floating wind turbines and Baymax glides up one of their cables. Those wind turbines? Talk about a seriously cool concept!
  14. Dinosaurs conflict with Jurassic Park. Just like how anything remotely set in space conflicts with Star Wars.
  15. But Ultra Agents did pretty much the same thing, even more so I think.
  16. If the majority of these sets were priced at below US $100, then perhaps Lego could distribute them on a major retailer wide basis, as opposed to simply being relegated to brand stores. That kind of would be nice come to think of it, nonexclusive Creator Expert sets at a lower price point, but with the same level of detailing and construction quality. Well, those are some decent looking knockoff sets there! At least they're original, novel looking designs with some mechanical ingenuity incorporated into their builds. Granted, they may conceptually just be a blend of Nexo Knights, Elves, Chima, and traditional Castle, but you got to give them credit for not just hastily copying Lego's designs verbatim. Hey, TLG, how 'bout you hire some of those guys?
  17. This was a successful project that I really wish the staff at Ideas approved for production: Victorian London Christmas by jeffach1 But hey, maybe in the far future, Lego will revamp the Winter Village line and give it a Dickensian-like setting, taking a cue from this project. Oooh, the roof on this one looks great with all those Olive Green cheese slopes!
  18. Incredible! I really dig the Earth Blue/Brick Yellow building seen on the left, and I'm rather impressed at how those tan Jack Stone/4 Juniors columns work for architectural detailing on it too! I've got a bunch of those that I had no usage for, until now that is.
  19. LL928 Comes Home and LL924 Transporter by wolf.leews F70 Double Falcon by Vince_Toulouse Thunderbolt by @Sylon Thanks, as they're not the easiest genre to find, since many lack the appropriate tagging on Flickr, so I may find them much later after their initial posting. So whenever I can if the poster allows, I tag the photo with all the right buzzwords I find fitting, even tagging them with noteworthy part numbers that creation may be utilizing in a predominant or interesting manner. But despite that, it sure makes it fun to dig up undiscovered gems! It's cool how that Rex Mech makes usage of the head from the 2001 Dinosaurs line. Here's another sci-fi creation that makes usage of that Jurassic World Gyrosphere: Naviglio V-714 by lokiloki29
  20. Probably, but I guess it would depend. Besides historical/castle fans, would fans of the regular Town based line be interested in a medieval line too? Or are they more fans of Town/City as opposed to the modular concept? Probably the closest thing Lego could do within the current Town based modular line would be for a English/German Tutor style pub, something maybe Castle fans can roughly modify, if not completely satisfied with the product as is. But no, I do like the idea you've proposed there, as it would coexist alongside the Town based line without clashing with it in terms of price.
  21. Both Space Police IV and Space Pirates are two concepts I could definitely see working in this day and age. Heck, I don't know why we haven't seen a fourth iteration for Space Police yet since then. Perhaps a fusion of those two could work? Space Police vs. Space Pirates? Now another other concept i could see happening would be for a Space Miners theme. I've kinda gone on about this a little to much elsewhere recently, but such a theme could be seen a successor to 2009-2010's Power Miners, which reportedly was a big success for Lego. But this Space based underground theme wouldn't necessarily be Rock Raiders 2.0 with rusty colors and propellers, as it would more be like Power Miners but with colored canopies and thrusters, while still retaining a Tonka truck aesthetic.
  22. Fun! It's essentially a stout, rounded out LL924, and I dig your usage of the S17 Rocket Boy costume parts!

  25. The other night, I watched Disney's Big Hero 6 for the first time, and it really was a film I immensely enjoyed! But for me, the most exhilarating part of the movie was of Hiro and Baymax's first flight, which not only was a visually stunning rollercoaster, but also excellently complemented by a great score piece by Henry Jackman. So many people in YouTube comments have compared (and subsequently argued over) this piece to John Powell's Test Flight from HTTYD, and I can see why.
