General Part Discussion

Along with me! Like I said before, I think the only panels we are missing are the special ones above the wheels.- 5,507 replies

I would like that a lot! I think all that we need is the special panels that go above the wheels - but we will have purple ones...- 5,507 replies

Interesting concept, but I don't yet know if it will work with pull-back motors... I might try it myself if I find time for it. (I'm currently spending most of my time on my secret project) You mean @TechnicSummse, @Marxpek, and me? Because I don't think it would help getting to 40km/h - I have tried pull-back motors, and found that they don't really do much at all.

You could either move the battery box (possibly somewhere underneath, or if you are modelling the rest of it - on top), or increase the gearing down of the motor.

Generic Contest Discussion
mocbuild101 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That gives me an idea... What about a contest where you build better versions of technic sets? (A or B model) Not MODs of sets, but complete rebuilds that just keep the same shape and style as the original set - kind of half MOD, half MOC. I'm sure some great MOCs will come from a competition like this. (and hopefully a better version of 42070... ) Something like this for example: -
Mini Track Loader

Yes it is, but it would probably still look alright - which makes me wonder what it would look like with color vomit... -
Mini Track Loader

It's kind of cute, and quite small, but I think you can do a lot better... As for trying to make it in the same way as a Lego set, it's not much like one at all, compare it to this set - it's much better, don't you think? Sorry if I seem a bit critical, but it's really not that good... -
Here's my thoughts in one sentence: Great review, nice set, perfect for a MOD, but not for me, so I'm waiting for 42069...

Ouch!!! That's a very bad crash! You can get a new battery cover here: (if you need it) https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=43457&name=Electric, RC Race Buggy Battery / Receiver Unit Battery Cover (for 6272c01)&category=[Electric] But is there anything else broken? - it looks like there should be...

I would put some tiny wheels on the outermost buggy motors - because if they touch the ground at 35-40km/h... those pin holes will be destroyed!!!

Future MOCs
mocbuild101 replied to Epic Technic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Here's something very interesting I recently saw on TV - a container handling forklift: (otherwise known as a empty container handler) It grabs (and lifts) shipping containers like this: -
Oh... that's not what I got with my tests - and I think I got it up to about 2500rpm. (but then again, that's only going by the maths of the gear ratio) But you are right about needing a higher gear ratio for the smaller wheels, so maybe we do only have the one type of wheel...

They are the same as the other wheels you tested (that use the same rim). One thing I realised, you are doing the tests without putting the wheels on a surface - which you could simulate it by putting another (free spinning) wheel against it - and you will find that the tire won't come off the rim anymore.

Interesting... and good luck! Not quite sure, because I don't know where the front wheels will be. I would leave that out, because it is very hard to fit in, (I have only ever done it once - and that was in a big tank!) Yes, the images took ages to load! On Bricksafe, just copy the link of the 800x450 resize - 800px wide is the normal image size.
-
You do have a point there, but... there's no reason why I can't try it! One of the reasons why I decided to try this setup, is because I could use bigger front wheels (less rolling resistance and axle friction) without gaining weight.

I have been doing some other stuff, I have done a few more tests - but they have all been less than 30km/h - so I didn't bother posting them... I think I may have to try a trike design, with two wheels on the front, and only one wheel on the back. But I'm still determined to beat your (2 motor) 34.8km/h record! - I haven't given up yet!
