  1. Ok, enough with the teasing, here is where I'm at at the moment: The dark azure version is a manual version with sequential 4speed gearbox (I dropped the 8speed as I could not get the geartrain to run smooth...). The orange version is PF RC: 2×L-motor for drive, M-motor for (proportional) steering. Fits all types of PF battery boxes, including Sbrick and BuWizz. Above remark inspired me to create the orange bodywork version, it's ended up more as a rally version though. I raised the suspension by modifying the pushrod geometry. It's also a bit softer as a result. There's still lots to do (mainly the interiors, some minor bodywork details, and a new parking brake for the manual version as the current version is below par), but it's mostly just building as the designs are already done. Digital files are also nearly complete. So please tell me what you think of it sofar...
  2. Twin-turbo, twice the fun Getting there...
  3. Over time I did work on it, mainly simplifying the mechanics and finishing the last bits of body and interior. Just never got around to posting about it. I posted the above teaser also to push myself to finally wrap up this build and move on... Hopefully I'll get the last building bits and presentation material done before the end of the year.
  4. Light shines after a dark age of 2,5 years! Coming soon...
  5. Dude... What can I say: seriously brilliant and seriously silly, I love it! Totally different from your speed record cars, but again you pushed the bricks to their max and raised the bar of what is possible with LEGO. Last second of the video made my smile even bigger
  6. Apart from the animal discussion (an idea I really like by the way), I'd like to see more multiple-model sets in the future. TLG started small with the road crew, construction site and container yard sets a few years back, and later the car transporter was a much bigger addition to that line. The 'truck+trailer & stuntbike set' also fits this pattern, although it was sub-par as a set imho... I do see good possibilities here: It allows TLG to release smaller builds that wouldn't really sell well separately, mix some colors that wouldn't work together on a single model, and combine some functions that can't be in a single model. And these sets are great for playability which sells amongst kids (and parents).
  7. As mentioned above: this MOC is seriously good! It took me a few seconds to realize that the first pic actually wasn't of 8110 but your own version, it looks much bigger than it actually is. All the implements really top it off, hats off to you sir! One question though: does that diagonal black axle in the bottom run smooth (at the backside of the truck...)? The u-joints seem to be at or slightly over their maximum operating angle, it looks a bit awkward...
  8. Thanx! I have those rims in matte black around somewhere, but I prefer the grey ones I think. I might get them out some day and put them on to see how it looks though. The three 1l lime beams are just stacked onto a DBG 4l axle with stop, and the last 1l of the axle is put into the connector end. Nothing fancy...
  9. What about a properly executed subtractor mechanism in the drivetrain, instead of the standard '1 motor for left track, 1 motor for right track' approach... Properly suspended tracks with tensioners and all... This would indeed justify the assumed procepoint, but I have come to be a bit cautious to let a pricetag drive my expectations for functionality of a new set... I'm not even considering pneumatics at this point (hoping: YES, expecting: no...)
  10. Hmmm... re-issue of 8275, but with a licence and C+ instead of generic and PF. 8275 was a shockwave at the time, first Technic (IR)RC set. It was a great set (and still is today imho), but I can't see a similar type of vehicle being good enough to justify €400+. So it is either overpriced (duhh...) or two scales larger than necessary to accomplish the functions (duhh again...). And I don't think it will hit the level of detail of Sheo's CAT D11T dozer for example to justify that price. But enough with the complaining, it is really great to see a CAT license. Together with the Liebherr and Volvo licenses, TLG has enough IP-potential to (re)spawn loads of interesting and recognizable construction/heavy industry machinery in the coming years. I like cars most of all things, but I am also sensitive to 'balance', and I hope this additional license can restore the balance in the line-up in the future to a healthy mix of subjects and sub-themes.
  11. I didn't want to bump @Charbel's original Volcano RS topic (it's over three years old), but I wanted to show you my version of this beautiful MOC, made possible by the Sian: Life is lime!
  12. I really like this idea! Working at this scale and size gives a whole new bunch of challenges to overcome, a breath of fresh air compared to non-working gearboxes with 100+ gears or sagging suspensions with 3 shocks per wheel... @dimka_ya you did a great job on the looks of these cars, the technic parts do not allow a lot of variety at this scale, but you managed to give all these builds a very distinct look. Well done!
  13. Hmm, seems I'm a little late to the party... I just finished my reverse engineered version after seeing the polybag picture somewhere on the internet. I came close...: I think I only missed that blue pin in the tail (taillight). And I only have the old version of the tail rotor (polybag has square blades) It is a fun little build, cleverly executed and looks quite good too for it's size. For me it's not worth picking it up, I have enough parts to make a fleet of these little guys, and possibly in a few different colors too, but this set sure is a nice surprise!
  14. Nice! Thanx for mentioning me, but like you said, the design came from others. The heli looks really smooth, and like a real set actually. Makes me wonder how it would be received if TLG starts a 'Legacy' series (like they do with Ninjago) for Technic remakes...
  15. That's looking great, and a neat idea using them as table legs too! Good to see you're almost done with the room, hopefully you'll be done in time to be building again in the coming holidays.
  16. Thanks for the in-depth insights, learned something new again. I agree though that the sides will not have stickers on this set. You can see a small edge of blank plastic on the side of the windscreen in the box front picture.
  17. @JunkstyleGio most ( if not all) canopy pieces with some kind of pattern on it are printed on all sides, whether these sides are concave or flat (see Star Wars sets, City Space Mission sets etc). I've never seen TLG combine prints and stickers on one single part (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know every set&part...) So if the sides have a pattern, it'll probably be printed as well.
  18. 'Simple, obvious' solutions are often the hardest to come by, so thanks for sharing! With the new 2x3 l-beam (in the top of the boom of the new excavator set) this will be even easier to accomplish, and stronger too. This setup should also work for (the rear axle of) small/medium sized buggy like vehicles with regular wheels, route the drive axle upwards along that beam and connect through a 90° mesh over there and it can be RC as well...
  19. Also check out what TLG did in the new large scale ECTO1 set (and other large creator cars I guess) that engine bay is pretty accurate. Keep it up, you've got a nice niche (1:8 jdm) going for yourself here!
  20. It definately is advertised like that by TLG. For first-timers the functions will be satisfying (even overwhelming) enough, and for collectors it just has to be as pretty as possible sitting on the shelve. I think TLG made a good set for both those target groups, and as collateral effect also made a good parts pack for AFOLs. Nothing more, nothing less.
  21. At the top of the arm it definitely is a new l-beam, with curved (reinforced) backside to fit the 3x7x2 and 3x11x2 rounded panels
  22. At least this time they got the wheelbase vs car length dimensions correct
  23. Looks to me like this one, mounted slightly sloped down, with a 2x2 or 1x2 red tile over the studs at the top. Probably mounted from behind or below the canopy piece. Edit: rear wing has 3 of the mini flat panels (3×7×1) in black side by side
