  1. You should also take a look at the (building instructions of) the BMW motorbike set from a while ago. It uses car suspension parts to create the sprung front fork, including the more common 6.5l hard shock absorber. The engine and the kickstart mechanism sound interesting, I'm curious what you'll come up with. Good luck!
  2. Nice! Awesome use of the wishbone part as front fork And creative thinking on the wheels too. No suspension and steering on this bike right? Seems impossible to achieve at this scale...
  3. Awesome, imho way better than the little rubber tire driving the outside of the big tire. This will be a beast...
  4. When I build a bigger MOC I also split it in several parts. Since I usually build cars as well, I do the same as @2GodBDGlory and start with the complicated components like gearboxes and axles. When the first iteration of those is done I connect them in correct scale and start building a frame around them. But here is where I take a different route. I always build multiple versions of anything when building a MOC, and for the frame I also build one without any mechanisms in it to make sure it is as rigid as can be on its own. From that empty frame I then start to refine the mechanism components to fit the frame. Simultaneously I also start building bodywork so I can set my outside hardpoints and make dure my mechanisms are not too large. Once I have a satisfying outer shell draft, I try fitting it to the frame, changing that as needed to accommodate the connections. And then I switch to building digital because I don't want to build a 5th/6th etc. version of the frame... I usually have a table full of discarded builds and sections laying around...
  5. I'm playing in my mind with a crazy concept around the 'snake' theme, I just finished a WIP version of the first little step towards that. Adjustable ride height:
  6. cool solution and still pretty small, fits perfectly into a 1:8 model. I wonder if I can squeeze something like this into a 1:10...
  7. So there were some questions about the HoF being near-dead again... it was sort of my thing to keep that going, but life got heavily in the way last year. I want to start updating the HoF again, with at least contest winners and some of the best builds from last year. It is a sh*tload of content to go through though, some help would be appreciated. So please start recommending your favorites from past year, and let's get the HoF in shape again!
  8. Yeah I know... it was sort of my thing to keep that going, but life got heavily in the way last year. 9. @Targi I was about to post the same as Milan just did... A single topic with multiple MOCs in it will make sure all your builds stay visible to the reader. But a single topic per MOC will create more focus on an individual build. So yeah, it's all about your personal preference. And don't be scared by size comparisons: some of the best MOCs are the ones with the smallest amount of pieces...
  10. Those shapes and curves are beautiful... I think a V-twin and 2speed gearbox should be manageable in the space you have, but even without fancy mechanics this will look great! Good luck!
  11. Wow, 2wd, 6speed, you're going the full monty! Looking good sofar, but I'm most interested in how you'll solve the front wheel with drive and steering. Will follow this one closely. Good luck!
  12. Thanx, although I have to say that above pics are from the best possible angle, there actually are some gaps in the body here and there, mainly around the wheel wells... I aim to make a video at some point, and some more photos/renders showing (amongst other functions) the difference in suspension setup. But that will be January at its earliest, probably even later. TC19 is gonna eat away precious 'LEGO-time also'...
  13. Maybe some (online) auction site might be worth a try. I don't know if, for example, Catawiki exists in the USA (at least it does in the Netherlands), they work with experts, some even specifically for LEGO auctions, that can estimate a proper value for your entire collection. You will probably be able to find a similar auction platform around your place. I've never used it myself, but I've seen very large collections going for large prizes.
  14. I'm surprised this 'standard' configuration actually fits the inside of the tire that well (as in, no weird near-half-stud spacers needed etc.). Makes one wonder whether these things are considered during parts development... Edit: one question though: did you already think about an engine? And how to drive that? Seems like a challenge to get that going in this setup...
  15. That's really cool, I love this out of the box thinking! I'm curious to see what type of frame/bike you will build around it. It'll be big for sure... Good luck!
  16. Ehhhm Jim, is this rule a leftover from TC18 text, or do we have to provide a chassis picture of the motorbike this time too? I'm fine either way, just checking...
  17. Nice, another chopper! Good start with the frame, seems you have lots of space to fit all mechanics in there. Best of luck!
  18. Did some sketching...: Seems like I have myself a theme to build around...
  19. Ahh, a new motorbike from you, that should be good. Really looking forward to what you'll come up with this time! I'll keep an eye on your progress. Good luck!
  20. So a motorbike contest... I usually build cars, but last time I went out of my comfort zone it turned out pretty well (TC15...). So let's give this one a try. I had recently dismantled my Sian, and the (new) parts are still fresh in my memory. Somehow, I feel the curved fender parts would work well on a motorbike, so I started building from there. Hmm... big low wide rear fender, that just screams OCC custom chopper all over. So I threw some more parts together and this is what I got after about 15mins: I don't know where I'll end up exactly, but I like it sofar and stick with this for now. I'm always open for tips, ideas, critics, so shoot...
  21. ... think of clouds, soft plushy clouds, like little sheep darting around a meadow... ...take deep breaths... ...relax... ...feel the clouds... ...you are the clouds...
  22. Wow, onto the second page of comments about trying to bend the rules... let's just build a motorbike with two wheels people! How hard can it be... - takes a few deeeep breaths... - Anyway... like TC15 this is a nice stretch from my usual comfort zone, so count me in. Just spend about 15 minutes tinkering this morning, and I think I'm rollin' now. Thanks @Jim and others that contributed for kicking off another contest
  23. You could use a sliding (bevel) gear connected to a rod towards the cabin to engage/disengage. But when disengaging the rear steering would be 'free' to turn on itself unless you device some lock. And return to center would be tricky. Something like your safeshift mechanism would be needed, a 'safesteer' maybe? Indeed as mentioned by other the Claas system is very sophisticated and has the auto-return-to-center function. But it's quite a bulky system, I don't know how much room you have or are willing to give up for it. Is there a possibility to extend the controls past the gearbox and have the actual steering setup behind the rear axle? That might give you some more space to work with (cover the steering setup with some nitro tanks and you're done...)
