  1. Yeah that's the problem with those vehicle wedge pieces. They can make a vehicle look great but also restrict the ability to work lengthwise. The cheese slope solution as per your render is a good workaround that I've used before but I understand wanting the roof to match up perfectly with the wedge piece. Would shortening the bus 2 studs also work?
  2. I agree that the blind bag distribution method seems like a slimy unscrupulous way to sell toys to kids but I have also met several parents and kids who were very good at feeling the characters out. The Lego store doesn't seem to mind much (and all other retailers that carry them couldn't care less) about locating figures this way so its not as horrible as it once seemed. If on the other hand they hid them all behind a counter and made you buy whatever they randomly grabbed with no touching then it would be truly disturbing, which is basically what buying them on Lego Shop @ Home is like. Here's 4 of the one character you didn't want.
  3. My goodness that is hilariously awesome! What a fantastically unusual combination of modular, Technic and sci-fi. Don't mess with the yellow townhouse. Evict this! Most excellent MOC.
  4. This is really cool and very impressive. You have some really fantastic MOCs and MODs, its just loaded with great detail everywhere. Keep it going and keep us updated!
  5. If you still see them on your browser then they're probably still cached or whatever the term is. I always log out and clear all browser history/cookies then re-check logged out for this reason. I can't see the links so I can't tell whats wrong but someone will probably come along with more help. Are you uploading directly to the forum or a third party host?
  6. I felt the same way about the other Ideas submitter that has been selected twice and I also agree that these are wonderful designs. The Old Fishing Store is especially beautiful and unique with one of the most awesome array of parts as well, however with the extremely limited number that reach 10K supporters, move on to further review and then actually get produced it would be nice if it there was some unwritten rule of one win per submitter or perhaps more builders just need to be encouraged to share their Ideas. Based on AFOL input one point of worry is the piece limit which I would say just submit anyway and if it makes it through then Lego will handle the fine details. I would like to see these produced as well if Ideas approved and produced more per year. There are so many good ones that either fail to reach 10K or get rejected at initial review that it would be nice if all Lego builders had a fair chance. I have no submissions so this is strictly from an observer standpoint, no stake or vested interest.
  7. Thanks Greg3! I'm glad you like the signage, the wrench took a while to get looking right and almost never came about especially with regards to the connection method to the front of the building while keeping it still looking like a wrench. Thanks Scottwb2010! Really humbled you think it captures the atmosphere of a real hardware store, I love hardware stores so I'm happy you think it is true to the subject matter.
  8. Here's hoping the other fish themed buildings don't get approved. First time rooting against an Idea because it would be dreary and uninspiring if Ideas selections were to become saturated by rehashed designs from a multiple-time winner. Congrats on the win, enjoy the royalties, start building with real bricks and enjoy the 15 minutes. Time to give others the opportunity, I trust the Lego Ideas team understands this.
  9. Looks great. The train windshield is perfect for the second floor.
  10. Thanks Greg3! Thanks RogerSmith. Floor height differences are normal in modern cities. On my block alone (in real life) the building floor heights differ by as much as 6', more than the average height of a western male. Pretty common in cities that never had building floor height or structure height restrictions, the disparity between new and old buildings is even greater with higher and higher ceilings/floors becoming the norm so a room in one building is able to look down into the one next to it despite being the same floor number. Nothing wrong with wanting every modular staying as close to ~10-brick floor heights but many places have large floor height differences. Many have commented (and even complained) that the official Modular building sets are getting smaller and smaller as well. The height difference is also present in the official modulars: Town Hall vs Parisian Restaurant big floor height disparity (this shelf is a little warped from all the weight): Brick Bank's 12-brick floor heights vs Detective Office's 7-brick floor heights, almost double: This Laundromat next to Town Hall: Some buildings and their respective floor heights just dwarf others, my city has no legal restrictions a la Kyoto or defunct gentleman's agreements a la Philadelphia, regarding structure heights (and thus no need to try and squeeze as many floors into that restriction). Thanks as always Carebear!
  11. Challenge accepted! The race is on. Now I gotta go squeegee some car windows on the street corner to acquire it.
  12. Exquisite school! Now the little ones can finally get an education, what have they been doing all this time? Love the exterior and the little builds like the water cooler, copy machine and desktop computer. Windows above the classroom doors is very elementary school.
  13. Awesome!! Perfect use of the antenna/lever base and 1x1 round w/hole. Wonderfully accurate build!
  14. That would go well with the Morgue/Steakhouse. Soylentminifigure.
  15. That is super retro! Keep it together forever. Thanks. Was way more into building military stuff back then, pretty much only had 3 colors to work with unless one wanted bright red and yellow armaments like Command and Conquer or something.
  16. Thanks Fordtruckin. Aside from the obvious pieces that aren't in the set like the jail doors and computer screen slope bricks I did need to borrow some Dark Stone Grey and Sand Blue from Assembly Square, mostly 1x6 and 1x8 bricks since I did the laundromat first and that used a lot of the dark stone grey that comes with Brick Bank. If you just did the BB in 16-wide I think it could be done with very few extras required.
  17. Thirded here. Least favorite as well and mine is also disassembled but it does look a bit better as a non-corner building as member Superfunk did. Even more unappealing though is the building its inspired by in Los Angeles. At least it has a good quantity of useful parts.
  18. Welcome to the Town Credit Union financial cooperative. No longer the for-profit Brick Bank so you don't have to worry about some pricks on Wall Street gambling with your money and then whining and crying when they screw up and asking for a bailout from the government while wrecking the entire economy. Improved security, double doors with jail doors and ballistic glass doors so no more sneaky assault guy style wannabe james bond ninja thieves crawling through air ducts or down chimneys to steal your money. Full non-corner Brick Bank: Second floor, ditched the large safe where all money is kept together and thus easily stolen. Now they have private security and utilize random assigned double-keyed security boxes thus making much harder to walk off with all the bank's cash. Also kept the open lobby. All the old Brick Bank bankers are in prison now, for life, so new Credit Union employee, private security and the mega security computer five billion. \ Kept the chandelier: With 16-wide its nice to be able to split up the order of the buildings.
  19. Absolutely incredible. Really enjoyed seeing all the development stages, that's really cool to take photos along the way. You made one beautiful and massive building. Lego Ideas 3,000 piece limit can go to heck. Did they tell Mozart 'too many notes'?
  20. I have a handful that survived through the 'dark ages' which would place them around 18 years old. Koala designs circa ~1999: A crummy tank and a helicopter (added the IR jammer on the tail later as its obviously a post '2000 piece): Classic Ninja (pre-Ninjago) castle made from combining all the parts on two 48x48 plates
  21. Great work! The summer grocer is especially pretty and has that historic feel that so many AFOL love.
  22. This is really cool! I love the ticket barriers, escalators and especially train platform, the 1x2x2 wall pieces near the track level are perfect. Can't wait for updates.
  23. Thanks Paupadros, you've got quite the MOC modular collection so I'm humbled you like this. Thanks Bricksmith! Pieces to spare are limited at the moment so I'm glad you feel it has a good amount of detail. Thank you for the compliment, its nice to have a Master Builder like yourself enjoy my work. LOL Thanks Only Sinner. They'll have to keep that in mind and the local Police have been notified to keep an eye out for hired goons. Good looking out The legendary modular builder Peedeejay, thank you! Thanks! 16x32 is a fun and challenging size, less bricks required but more creativity with regards to interior space. Thanks AnkTales. Thanks Scottwb2010. Yeah brings back fond memories for me as well having to go to a community coin laundry, always a bit of an adventure just to get clean clothes. Thanks Xon67. Had to come up with a decent excuse to completely dismantle an official modular. Thanks Digger of Bricks. The Nexo shield pieces are in fact Sand Blue and the Brick Bank comes with 4 of them: https://brickset.com/inventories/10251-1 And I totally agree, a couple of 16x32 modular sets would be awesome as thats one of the things that makes Pet Shop so cool allowing for a breaking up of the uniformity that results from many having the same sets and layouts.
  24. Fantastic little retro gas station. The details really complete it like the tire pressure hose and fluids and tire rack inside. Perfect choice of minifigure and the brick built large battery and use of technic wheel and tire for signage is great too. Great use of parts and colors as well.
