Repeating floors are just a reality, in the real world it is a staple architectural design. The architects are not wrong. The buildings that don't exhibit this either don't have a 3rd enclosed and occupiable floor or have some variation of a mansard roof built into the 3rd floor facade. There are examples that buck this trend but it holds true for the overwhelming majority of 3+ story buildings. Point is no one should be discouraged from making a MOC modular with repeating floors or told to change theirs (which is contradictory to the 'essence' of MOC) simply because a contrarian thinks that every one should have a mansard roof or think every floor should be different from the previous, especially when one cites as acceptable the very thing they criticized before.

Town hall, assembly square, grand emporium, detectives office and nine of the MOC modulars you posted have as you said: Hypocrisy.

Hahaha that hair is awesome. Excellent building execution its very true to her form.
-
Truly awesome parts usage and building skill. Fantastic. However I can smell them from here, they both need a couple showers.

Since that review mentioned it I still find it odd that Lego's official part description for the boombox is the pejorative: 'ghettoblaster'.

Good work noticing that and sharing the information. They also made a separate thread on here about it in Special Themes. -
Thanks, you're referring to the shots without the white background right? I've never been a huge fan of high-key photography and thats probably showing through in the work. It might have looked better if the white was cut to straight 255 RGB like I normally do but still just never liked the look. Heres two more. Thanks AlexanderM.

This round was really tough, really like them all. Too bad all the soccer players are done as they helped make decisions easier by automatically eliminating a full choice, sorry soccer.

Thanks paostmo! Haha, thanks Borex. Many good projects require multiple trips, 3 or more and its getting serious. Forgot to show the all floors together but separate view: Need an M8, 1.25 thread pitch, class 10.9 hex head bolt... Municipal workers stop by to get some supplies, janitor can't get a word in (neither included in set :P)

Survey: New parts and new colors

The other difference is the SNOT stud offset is different for both of those. The white one peedeejay displayed has the SNOT studs flush with the vertical build while the grey piece shown is offset: -
Seriously, Series 13 was quite a diverse group of really strong characters and one of my favorite series as well, however we must keep in mind that with an approximate average of 50 voters these picks are representative of an extremely small group. Or put another way the number of voters shrunk down and packaged to Minifigure size would just barely fit in a new unopened CMF box while in reality there are tens of thousands of each series' boxes sold with hundreds of thousands of these figures out in the world.

Fantastic and very realistic park. The foliage and trees, pathways, exterior walls and gates are all beautifully done. It looks fantastic in that equally amazing town layout.

EDIT: Apparently this poster is a thief. Not cool. Retract my previous comments.

There was no offense meant in my comment. To clarify, after being reminded of what Larry the baristas character was portraying in The Lego Movie I was reminded of why I liked him; because he's making fun of overpriced coffee, the psychological addiction effect that coffee has and people's extreme desire for and often crazy behavior if they don't have their required dosage. I'm neither side, I enjoy coffee but am not a fan of many aspects of it. So I'd be voting for him as a nod to what the TLM writers were trying to say with his character.

Dang, I voted for revolutionary soldier but after seeing that tangent rant I wish I could change the vote to the barista. As far as the popularity, he was one of the funnier ancillary characters in the movie. "Here you go, thats thirty seven dollars". Given the fact the whole character is mocking certain aspects of the coffee industry its surprising that someone who doesn't like coffee doesn't appreciate the not-so-subtle coffee industry ridicule. "Here you go. That’s $37. Some baristas have practiced for years to prepare their own magnificent blend of coffee, but not Larry! Like the other citizens of Bricksburg, he does everything by the rules, and that means that each cup is brewed and served in exactly the same way: precisely by the instructions. Larry is famous for making the most average – and expensive – coffee in the city, which is just the way the citizens of Bricksburg like it. That’s because buying overpriced coffee on the way to work every morning is in the instructions, too!" http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Larry_the_Barista

MOCed Collectable Minifigures Series 17
koalayummies replied to AmperZand's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Really like the butterfly fairy girl combination. The classic grey space guy is awesome as well. Very fun all around, it shows some good possibilities with this series. -
Great MOC modular. I like the integration of the modern gas station facade with the more historic looking building. Good use of plates to give an additional masonry look and added detail. Great build.
-
Thanks Wout. Haha that is a very funny and nice compliment. Much appreciated, thank you Orange Leader. Thanks Palixa And The Bricks. I'm glad you like the color palette and are fond of the interior as well as the roof. Rooftop space is often overlooked and undervalued. Thanks again. Drdesignz, you do me too much honor. Thank you very much. You can stop by in one of your MOC vehicles anytime and just hang out! Thanks! And to whomever is behind the scenes that made this a featured topic thank you.

Fantastic MOC. Packed with details all over. Awesome building style. Beautiful modular all around, great work, love it

Thank you Malou. I have been wanting to try this software out for a while and thanks to your packaged file and straightforward explanation I was able to get it running and rendering in a few minutes. I hope VaderFan2187 gets it running too as this software is just as cool as it looks. A recent MOC Modular building that was first designed in LDD (since been built in real bricks).

Yeah nice layout thanks for sharing. Its always nice testing out a build idea and finding out its "LDD-legal".

LEGO Ideas Discussion

Yes! I support most medieval style/castle/historic themed Ideas I can find specifically because there's not enough. I know people are saying its a long shot to pass review but here's hoping. That is awesome. -
Thank you JLSD, too kind. Thanks NewTown. I'm a fan of more open kitchens, kitchen islands and angled countertops, I'm glad you're fond of the design, thanks! Thanks BlockLogo. I know some aren't fans of the flower sign in Assembly Square and that type of sign can be hit or miss so I'm glad you're fond of it here, it took a good amount of time to get it to where it looks good. Thanks again! Thanks TheLegoDr. I debated about the sign for a while, either large representations of shop items or tile and plate/brick built typography sign and minifigure accessories. I had design ideas for both and have been thinking up an alternative typographical sign that could be hung or suspended without much modification to the existing structure, I can certainly share the worded sign on the building but still lean towards the representational sign. I incorporated the seemingly obligatory apartment because I wanted the store owner to also be the building owner and resident, the thought of owning a living space and small business in one building is to me very appealing, especially if its a privately owned hardware store. Its common in cities to have residential space above businesses in multi story buildings. Thanks for the compliment. Thanks Peedeejay! You are hands down one of the very best modular building designers with an incredible portfolio of beautiful buildings so I am honored you like this design. Thank you.

Yeah this is great. I like the use of colors, I know some prefer more subdued and conservatively colored urban designs but the use of colors here is great and the smaller sections are more in line with the current modulars like Detectives Office and Assembly square. Really like the fully-plate built roof and masonry textured facade. You made a nice cozy modular, great work. Just don't let them skip leg-day!
