  1. What is this and how can I make the rest of my life about it.
  2. Awesome update with the design numbers! That is going to be very useful to a lot of builders. IIRC few hairpieces have multiple design numbers despite being/looking like the same mould correct?
  3. I hope the crumpled up stuffed in pants picture we're all discussing was only part of the document and that its also a post office museum school library hospital with a police box elevated subway station and full apartment building. Everyone else is dreaming small.
  4. Yeah, agree with @Umbra-Manis, very cool specially built displays made just for that store. There's several large Chicago buildings on display at the Lego store in the Water Tower Place.
  5. To address the swift dismissal of the latest City mining theme by saying '2012 mining was better', I present... exhibit B: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Rock-Raiders Boom 2018 Mining is better! Case closed.
  6. Choosing between a zombie skater and a hippie is like choosing between having your left ear cut off or your right ear cut off.
  7. A high rise with a dunkin donuts ! Beautiful work. Love the balconies, floor to ceiling windows, infinity pool, green separated bike lane, the awning and of course donuts. Fantastic MOC!
  8. Interesting, never seen that before. According to that chart I build mostly in Scooby Doo colors. Scooby doo makes my blood pressure spike. I'm going to switch to Disney Princess or Clikits, whatever that is.
  9. There's also CMF Series 2 Surfer, Series 3 Sumo, Series 5 Boxer, Series 7 Jungle Boy, Series 15 Faun, Series 15 Wrestling Champion, Series 17 Strongman (nearly shirtless) Series GB Stealth Swimmer and 2018 City set 60173 with a shirtless bare and hairy chested man only wearing boxer short underwear. Lego Movie Where's My Pants guy was also nearly naked.
  10. I use the modulars as CMF storage but I just stick them anywhere there's free floor studs. But here's a few possibilities: Carpenter, Plumber, Decorator, Welder in the under-remodel townhouse of PS. Dog Show Winner, Zookeeper, Animal Control, in PS Janitor, Royal Guard, Computer Programmer, Bride, Judge, Librarian, Farmer in TH. Pharaoh, Magician, Cowboy, Forestman, Hollywood Starlet in PC. (indeed any historic or over the top costumed character) Nurse, Rapper, Punk Rocker, Flamenco Dancer, Surgeon, Rocker Girl, Techno DJ, Trendsetter, Jazz Musician, Rock Star, Ballerina, Babysitter in AS. Mime, Artist, Musketeer, Butcher, Waiter, Gourmet Chef in PR. Detective, Gangster, Lederhosen, Hippie, Bagpiper in DO. Spy, Jewel Thief, Gargoyle, Zombie Businessman, Zombie Pirate, Prospecter, Constable, Grandma in BB.
  11. Yeah I suspect that the lack of fondness from those who aren't madly in love with this building stems not from a specific color but more from the Art Deco styling in general. Art Deco is often a controversial subject in architecture. The popularity waned quite a long time ago and this particular style of Art Deco, the more flamboyant less subdued late Art Deco/Streamline Moderne is now almost exclusively relegated to South Beach Miami, Johnny Rockets restaurants and the Fallout video game series.
  12. Despite how anguished and despairing I feel after reading it, thank you for sharing that story @ShaydDeGrai. A despicable man making a child cry on their birthday because of greed over a kid's building toy. I feel sickened and enraged. Wrathful.
  13. Well said Aanchir. This subject is regularly brought up making the argument that because the sets have buildings using particular architectural styles and vintage objects within them then that building (and thus entire theme) must be set or take place in the specific era and region that style originated or was most prolific. This theory is notwithstanding the fact that in the year 2017 we still have old buildings, old cars, old phones, old toilets, old cameras, old fashion and so on. The only thing we don't have is what the proponents of these theories describe as a 'time-traveling computer'. So I agree, it does seem more plausible the modular line takes place in a fictional Lego world and not any one specific region or era in the real world.
  14. Here's an awesome solution from member Superfunk (<-link to post in PR thread) no more stairwell gap between buildings:
  15. Castle, Pirate and... Model Team! Edit, unless that last one isn't really classic. Its not classic is it. Darn.
  16. The old 'pics or it didn't happen' argument. Here you go from Brooklyn, and another from Philadelphia, or the one in the John Hancock building in Chicago...
  17. How about a bunch of narrow buildings! And your snow-covered modular street is most excellent. Wonderful change of scenery.
  18. You don't understand why builders modify sets to their liking?
  19. Superb work recreating such a true-to-life version of that townhouse. That is something really special you've done and the father and son building together is a wonderful moment. What a great MOC, present and story.
  20. Wow very cool modern architecture and an amazing big city feel! The design is very sleek, clean and realistic and the large scale of the structure is spectacular. All the rooms have views. Fantastic MOC.
  21. Simply epic. Crazy awesome detail, scale and realism. The architecture, roof build techniques, figures (training and age progression are so excellent) foliage, photography, indeed everything is perfection. Absolutely stunning work Vincent Q!
  22. Really fantastic and realistic! Excellent use of parts and SNOT to achieve the faithful look. Awesome work.
  23. Sweet around just in time for the polls to open. Lets vote!
  24. Always be sure to check the date of the topic before posting. There are other more recent topics that this could have been expressed in without pushing members wonderful MOCs aside just to share an opinion that was already established.
  25. Perfection! I can hear the caw and the weird clicking sounds they make just looking at it. Tons of crows where I live, some of them are so big they have to hobble instead of strutting when on the ground. Amazing build.
