Looks like I'm the only poster so far that doesn't like Ikea. Be careful Ikea, you're being warned. Because if Ikea is involved the potential for crappiness is very high.

Never has the solution to a Lego "problem" or complaint been so obvious. Ignore the numbers and open all the bags at once. Problem solved. Ok, so open all the bags dumping them into a box, shake up the box and pour on table/floor/wherever you build. Ok now we know what you're doing here. End thread. Reason: Poster says they dislike numbered bags. Respondents suggest ignoring the numbers and opening all the bags at the start which is exactly what one would have to do if the bags were not numbered anyway. Poster says that opening all the bags at once, which is exactly what one would have to do if the bags were not numbered as they prefer, results in losing "that wonderful new Lego smell". Obvious _____ is obvious.

I remember seeing Tsi's pharmacy back when I was just a lurker here. Beautiful. And that Mexican Restaurant is incredible; love the usage of the weird balloon pieces.

Beautiful. I really like your style. Your buildings all have a very warm, cozy and inviting aesthetic. The post office side is especially strong and I love the facade and roof; gorgeous. The window arches, foliage and planters and colors are all wonderfully balanced. Amazing work Bricked1980, you are on a roll.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
koalayummies replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
You can see gas stations like that in Tokyo, in fact that one is a really good homage. The pumps are obviously ground level but the awning is often two stories up like that and built inside/attached to a multi-story structure with some even inset on a high-rise. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 18 Rumors and Discussion
koalayummies replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Disagree about the clown comments. Lego played it safe and more importantly smart by keeping his head yellow. Google "clown" (and then "creepy clown") and click images; full-white-face has been mostly relegated to hollyweird horror film insane murdering slasher clowns, comic book villains... and McDonalds. Nothing stopping anyone from making this type of clown with a simple head swap but that's not what Lego wanted. The CMF clown is in-line with the traditional party clown (now google that), given the theme, which is more often white around the eyes and mouth only. The type of clown you might still be able to find at a children's birthday party making balloon animals and bonking a squeaky toy hammer and spinning plates on sticks. -
10:18 "Oof, ugghh, bonk, arrgh, get in there drawer!" Is the roof of the ambulance a new piece? Brick Builder opens Lego bags like a boss. Makes traditional method look so unsophisticated.

This review required so much work!! You did an amazing job here. Fantastic work highlighting and detailing the great number of builds, techniques and facets of this set, along with the prescience to stop now and again to carry it over to your studio setup and photograph. Its one of those legendary sets that looks so wildly fun to build but wouldn't have anywhere to keep it.

Even though its a rather small build, that little tree house is reminiscent of the Imperial Trading Post.
-
Very nice and realistic looking horse build. I like the parts choices for the nose/nostrils, eyes, and hair construction. The comic book like story was a perfect addition and really funny.

[Poll] What do you do with new sets?
koalayummies replied to mocbuild101's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Other because its a pretty even split: Some get built and left assembled for a while. Some get built and then are promptly disassembled. Some never get assembled as they were purchased for parts. -
This Watchman's House is a great example of the beauty that can be achieved on a smaller scale. And this whole page is amazing as is the whole thread. The wonder and amazement never ceases in here. The 'street view' car in the Google MOC was a great inclusion. The Grand Palace of Thailand is mind blowing and the first three MOCs on the page are so very different and yet equally incredible. Loving the widely varying styles. You always find and highlight such fantastic work LegoModularFan, keep it up!

Unauthorized selling of instructions for MOCs
koalayummies replied to Sven J's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Todays Brickguardian News: The thought of losing the entire revenue stream proved too much to bear for the miscreant and he promptly reestablished all of the content he could still salvage in hopes of maintaining some semblance of the lifestyle that thanks largely to appropriation he had become accustomed. Thanks for sharing and well said. Many here nobly offered him the benefit of the doubt, they held out hope that he inexplicably didn't know that what he was doing was morally and ethically perverted, offered him a second chance (even though it was really at least a third chance based on past discussions), patiently heard him out and sacrificed their time to explain to him the significance in hopes that he would correct the flagrant wrongs. While he has taken steps to correct most of the wrongs that led to this (however short of restitution) unfortunately all the rest of this appears to have been in vain as the true character is slowly revealed. That same olive branch of diplomacy through discussion is not offered but instead outright revoked and banned and an inflated sense of superiority and entitlement takes over as a dictatorship over the truth is rolled out. 'You shall not inform anyone looking at his channel of his past' as he attempts to sweep this under a decrepit urine and feces stained rug. -
Unauthorized selling of instructions for MOCs
koalayummies replied to Sven J's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ah yes, the victim blaming argument. There's a difference between: enjoy this for your personal private use to build something you like versus use this for commercial purposes to profit. The latter is not fair use. Not everything that they were using was taken from the LDD Gallery, I know for a fact that some was taken from here on Eurobricks or from Bricksafe. They should do that sharing thing now and should have before, at the very least given credit but clearly they didn't care about any of these builders and those builders shouldn't have to be asked to strike a deal like that, the burden is the other way around. Distribute all funds made from the selling of instructions and youtube revenue generated from their channel to all those that they took from, or as per @Blk69's suggestion, donate it to a charity. Considering the lucrative potential that their channel had (thanks @JEB314 (James) for the image from the other thread): The overwhelming majority of that would be profits generated from the unauthorized and uncredited usage of other people's work. -
When all 300+ videos were up I clicked through a number of them and hit an ad on each one. Cleared all browser history, closed browser, reopened and went again multiple times throughout the day Wednesday and same thing. Its possible they changed something between the original thread (in Train Tech), the questions and mentions over there and here of the remunerative potential of 10,000,000 views and you not seeing any ads sometime before all the content was removed. Thanks for posting that. On the one hand they said they didn't generate very much from the sale of instructions but on the other hand the use of all those other people's involuntarily displayed and uncredited content on their channel could have made it a very lucrative operation as suspected.
-
What is the financial status of the youtube channel and how much revenue did it generate in total.

Unauthorized selling of instructions for MOCs
koalayummies replied to Sven J's topic in LEGO Train Tech
By do the right thing does that mean: they will take down all of the videos containing content that wasn't voluntarily submitted by "____ date and time" and pay out any revenue generated via the youtube dissemination and exhibition of said involuntarily displayed content to all parties involved by "____ date and time", in addition to informing their 13,000+ followers and unregistered viewers that not all of the uploaded content was voluntarily submitted but rather taken and displayed without permission nor credit given and finally issue a public apology? Just want to make sure there's consistency in what right thing means in this context. In their comments they were called out on this several months ago and got defensive, they've really already had at least one chance before. They posted a question to their followers asking if they should continue the channel and saying that they're receiving a lot of 'hate'; that was 7 hours ago (and 7 hours after saying they would be explaining all of this) and those that commented are completely unaware and still think that all of the content displayed is either voluntarily submitted or their own, except for one. Hit an advertisement on every video and the number of videos and view totals indicate it would be a lucrative channel if it were set up as such (considering no work was done on their part). Nearly 10,000,000 total views. If they are going to continue going forward they need to make the channel non-profit if it isn't already (and no I won't believe that it was non-profit) and if it wasn't then something must be done with that money to make it right. Everyone must be held accountable for their actions. Own up. Apologize. Explain that [whatever percentage of] the content wasn't theirs nor voluntarily submitted, explain and prove the channels financial status and what will be done going forward as soon as possible. There are still over 300 MOC instruction videos up on their channel as of posting this with many that are absolutely not theirs. -- Since my mediocre police car is up there this is only fitting. Might as well MOC the situation using one of the MOCs in question. "We now go live to that situation developing in Train Tech. Paula, what do you have for us?" -
Unauthorized selling of instructions for MOCs
koalayummies replied to Sven J's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice, they got me too. Luckily I only share LXFs of my worst work (which it all is! ) so the views are so insignificant that they didn't profit hardly at all but I'm sure everyone affected agrees that it's really cool seeing other people be like "nice model, awesome, I will build that, great work" and the person in question replying to those compliments without clarifying that they didn't actually design them. The selling of OP and other's creations and ideas instructions without permission is intellectual property theft and if they're a member on here they should be identified (they sort of are at the moment but not very clearly). They should immediately cease and desist, remove all creative content that is not their own from everywhere they're selling it, they should compensate all the money generated both from the selling of instructions and any youtube viewership revenue to the individuals who they were profiting off of and possibly further steps taken depending on their response if they ever issue one. In an ideal world of course. They hit a lot of really great builders, so many of these MOCs are instantly recognizable. There are ads showing on their videos and based on the number of videos and views on youtube they could have been making some decent cash. -
95% chance I'd mess up the two stickers on the big nose cone piece.

Absolutely amazing! Its so realistic its jaw-dropping. Thanks for linking to your Sears Tower build as well as somehow I missed seeing that. Incredible work converting these massive structures into a workable and super realistic looking scale for Lego. Truly masterful builds.

What's going wrong with my Lego geometry?
koalayummies replied to mouseketeer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah that could be it as I've seen this phenomenon discussed around here regarding Lego design team and engineers that scrutinize and approve official sets as 'tolerance accumulation'. I've seen it myself as well also regarding plate-thickness in SNOT construction like this and have had to swap plates for others or rotate them about their stud-axis to get better fitment. Let us know if you obtain better fitment and determine the suspect pieces. -
Incredibly unique and colorful MOC. Your continuous exploration of facade texture is one of a kind and results in a very definitive style. I really like the combination of the three buildings here. That last image of this with several of your other MOCs is really awesome; one of the most lively and joyous city blocks around! Great buildings!

Thanks Deraven! I built the little cart a couple of weeks ago and thought it'd be better to just include it here than make its own thread. Though I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that only after posting did I notice I gave both the flower vendor and historian the same torso !! I realize the buildings are rather simple in construction being nearly entirely studs on top but its fun and challenging to come up with a nice design using the most basic of Lego techniques so I'm happy its enjoyed despite the simplicity of the construction. Thanks. Thanks Marinho, I'm relieved you think it looks true to the real thing as minibuilds like that are always more daunting and stressful for me to keep them looking realistic in minifigure-scale. Thanks Bricked1980! I'm really honored you like it along with the story as the clandestine espionage subject matter is a bit outside the normal family friendly Lego area I prefer to stick nowadays. And thanks for the kind words on the photography, its nice to know someone as great at imaging like yourself enjoys the results! Thanks Paupadros! I'm glad you like the roof edge detailing and elevated first floor grating as I've wanted to include those elements for some time and am glad they came out in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Also relieved about the layout as I've gotten stuck in the 16/32 wide formats and haven't worked outside those dimensions. Thanks.

The last round of trains we got two cargo trains and one of them was not dual cab so they don't always do this, in fact of the train sets listed on brickset going back to 2006 less than half are dual cab engines. In any case: "In Europe, most modern locomotives are cab units with two cabs, one at each end."- Wikipedia Locomotive Cab I think its awesome. Looks much better than those leaked pictures which seems to be the common theme lately; can't stop the leaks so only garbage images until we're ready. Kids who have even a tiny interest in trains are going to flip for this. Lots of play potential, the crane car is really cool, the forklift is one of the better ones Lego has done and the bank transport ties in to the City and the truly never-ending police vs thieves motif.
