If TLG goes with BMW, it will be the first time ever they made a BMW car - they have the license but have made only two motorcycles so far. I believe they will be fully authentic in this scale, without turn signals Zenvo Aurora may be great (check out its predecessor Zenvo ST1 below - it was born to be shaped in Lego parts), but I'm not sure TLG has the license...

Well, it is the one that may be the closest to the border: DB5 by itself is a grand tourer: highspeed car + luxury comfort. > So it still goes to the "speed" meaning, like a fast, powerful, adrenaline (yeah, a bit less than pure-racers, but still) vehicle. Its 007 alter-ego, is a nice marketing chance to promote it better. Meanwhile, the "City-Utility" vehicles mostly belong to the City subtheme, with better playability, more attention to function over the shaping, etc. I love to see that SC-like sets now appear widely (Dreamz's "Crocodile Car" or SpiderMan's car with Morbius are the great examples), outside of City-limitations of 6-studs only. So, let's give them their own story)

2024 Technic Sets Discussion
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah, the ICE version of Mack LR with 49.5 tires had ~2045 pcs. 4 times bigger... -
A little update: a few days ago I got a packet with stickers sheet replacement. The LBG shade is much better now: it is insignificantly darker than needed (like in the 76911 Aston Martin DB5), but much, much better than the original sheet with a "Very-light" Bluish Gray shade. For reference, the codes on the sheets are: Part 76909stk01 Sticker Sheet for Set 76909, Sheet 1 - (84202/6374485) Original-light sheet: 149059 Darker replacement sheet: 22637 Part 76909stk02 Sticker Sheet for Set 76909, Sheet 2 - (87511/6376646) Original-light sheet: 149059 Darker replacement sheet: 22637 Here are the sticker sheets: Original-light on the left side, new-replacements are on the right.
-
Sorry for bumping the old topic - does anyone face a problem with LBG stickers? Mine for Project ONE are too light and look like Very-Light Bluish Gray actually rather than Light Bluish Gray-based. Meanwhile, for Aston Martin DB5 they are more correct (even a bit darker than should be). In the Technic topic (where I mostly live) we had a similar situation with the Lime-Green stickers that were too dark, and we had a positive experience with addressing it to TLG - they sent the corrected stickers sheet with the required shade of Lime-Green color: So, may I ask you to spend a minute, please? Does your set contain the correct or too light/dark shade of Light Bluish Gray-colored stickers? Have you addressed it to TLG Customer Support, and if yes, what was the result?

42156 - Peugeot 9X8 Hypercar
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, it won't be 100% accurate but will replicate it closer (for a given 1:10 scale, for sure), if the diagonal "dumper" (that acts as a sway/antiroll-bar) will be made of a small pneumatic cylinder, half-extended in the normal position. Its inner friction will resist to single-side suspension arm movements and will work similarly to this construction. P.S. Sorry for answering the way old post. Ohh, so it becomes a victim of its own over-engineering with floor-downforce... It badly reminds me of Mercedes-Benz CLR's sad story. -

Best tires for drift cars?
Void_S replied to Chilli's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I never tried balloons, but I must add that 49.5's rubber is "stickier" than 43.2's - a test car with these tires can climb further on an inclined clear flat surface (a plastic sheet). However, they also attract all dust and sand pieces around much faster... So, they (49.5) have a better "start grip" but then lose it very fast and start drifting. Meanwhile, 43.2 are equally "average" during the start, while they are clean and sticky, and later, when they are already full of dust particles. -
Did I get a fake lego set
Void_S replied to agena's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Moreover, one of the studs has a mark of mold injection inlet - that is never presented in original LEGO molds for this part. box - questionable ( @Maaboo35 is right, the "TM" mark must follow the "Technic" logo) instructions - fake (no logo, incorrect naming) parts - fake, incorrect molds. Yeah, it is a chargeback story, when you bought some good or some service that wasn't provided to you (didn't reach you, that happened to be a fake, was terminated with no possibility to use, etc.) -
New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation
Void_S replied to MTBingNinja's topic in LEGO Town
I may be mistaken but Speed Champions usually (at least in past years) come once per year with very few exclusions when some set needed a re-redesign (like the 75880 McLaren 720S) or was added as a special additional release (like 75895 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0, "now also in white", or 76911 007 Aston Martin DB5 + 76912 Fast & Furious 1970 Dodge Charger R/T as "cinema sub-theme"). So, following this scheme, as all the current year's sets were released, there is only a tiny chance that some "additional" set may appear this summer (or may not). -

We may get a recolor of all-plastic 2148 wheels from the 71780 Ninjago set: They are two-sided and their "thin-profile" side may work here very well: -
New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation

Oh, they are amazing, but these LED sets for them are too optional IMHO. But... I plan to combine all these LEDs into a single electrical circuit, powered by some rechargeable source. USB 5v would be fantastic. -
10317 Land Rover Classic Defender Discussion
Void_S replied to BrickWild's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hello from the Technic sub-forum! The steering movement is transferred to the front live axle via a shaft with CV joints. It could be spotted at 2:24 timestamp: an inclined Light Bluish Gray CV joint comes out frot eh axle to the frame. I suppose the full steering transmission is the following: The steering wheel > a lot of gears and shafts to move the output to the center of the frame, between the driver and passenger seats. The shaft output is connected to the floating axle via a pair of CV joints or universal joint + CV, to provide the variable length. The "flexible" shaft output rotates the 2L lever that moves the 6L links, that turns the wheel hubs (like in Mustang-Porshe-Camaro)- 64 replies

General Part Discussion
Void_S replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well, as far as I can see, the bottom "staged" photo shows the identic gaps between the wheel and wheel arches (the rear one is possibly slightly smaller). Meanwhile, the upper "nature" photo demonstrates a significantly smaller gap above the front wheel. I can explain it by only working suspension: the heavier rear part compresses the springs, while the uneven terrain causes the front axle articulation.- 5,465 replies

42151 - Bugatti Bolide
Void_S replied to Maaboo the Witch's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I wonder which of the "blue shades" will be used for the recolor model? I tried to imagine the same model in default-yellow, dark azure, and blue, as the shades I find the closets ones to the Bugatti Blue livery: (personally, I would love to see Dark Azure, since Blue looks more like McLaren Senna's variation rather a dedicated set...) -
42148 Snow Groomer
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
And partially because of structure issues: being made of polycarbonate mix, it had too thin walls and starts to crack easily. It was a "necessary evil" for 9V lamps, to cover them for colored lights effect but was rarely used as a standalone part somewhere. -
42148 Snow Groomer
Void_S replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It would look way better but the "axle with stud" used as a mount point for this part does not accept the "beacon" part. It will require adding a 1x1 round plate with a hole as a spacer. But the result will be an authentic-looking beacon that will fall-off easily. -
