  1. I’m certainly not in the hate camp. I’m impressed with the overall resemblance and it packs more functions than expected. I am very much looking forward to building it one day, but I will wait for the price to become “reasonable” on amazon or with Christmas in a super market promotion. It is 400 EUR on the Lego shop ... For me the premium look and feel and corresponding pricing are not necessary. I am interested in the building and technic functions. I would rather have a cheaper model without the fancy box and booklet, but that’s probably my Dutch origins ...
  2. A highly critical review by Held der Steine in German: In brief he considers it highly over priced and flawed in its implementation. He does not consider this a “Technic” model and is not a fan of the recent tendancy of form over function. If you want realistic reproductions of models, why not reintroduce the Model Team series ...
  3. Could it be that the Porsche was a big success because apart from the AFOL community, many Porsche owners or adults dreaming of a Porsche bought one as a design object? I think this will be much less the case with the Bugatti. The model looks awesome, but there are much less Bugatti owners than Porsche owners or adults dreaming about a Bugatti. So I think that the customer base for this model will be smaller ...
  4. Wow, the level of detail is amazing. For instance the fact that you have raised the cilinder to indicate that the tug is tugging (?), the handles on the door, etc. I’m currently building the Lego Technic ship 42064. It looks nice and I enjoy building it, but it is of course not comparable to your work and that of Arjan Oude Kotte.
  5. Thanks for the excellent review! I like the animated gifs very much. My compliments! I hesitated buying this set because I’m not an American truck fan and because of the small wheel size, but what convinced me was the interesting B-Model. In the end the A-Model turned out to be much larger than expected. It contained some new techniques I did not know such as the small scale pistons in the engine. My teenage daughters liked both the A and B model and tried out the different functions repeatedly. Always a good sign! ;-)
  6. I typically build the A-Model, keep it around for a couple of days/weeks and then build the B-Model. Same thing. Then I disassemble the model and either build the A-Model again for display or I store the pieces in their original box or in a number of plastic boxes with dividers, but always organised per set. At a certain time I had more than 25 large Technic sets on display, but the rest of the family started complaining. I have now limited the build sets to around 10 I’m particularly fond of. In the living room only the vintage helicopter 852 is prove of my mania. My family still complains because of all the boxes and the space they occupy. When a set is new, I build it following the instructions without sorting. When I build a set a second time I always sort the pieces before starting the build. That’s why I voted sometimes ... ;-)
  7. My first impression as well. The stub nose is characteristic for the Bugatti. I am very curious to see the whole model. Underwhelmed so far, but still looking forward to building this!
  8. I agree, Technic UCS should not just be reproducing as truthfully as possible the shape of a super car using Technic bricks ...
  9. I build the 8443 yesterday. Simple build with an interesting connected steering I had not yet observed in any other builds. We were sitting outside at the terrace when my brother visited. He started playing with the pump. I showed him the switches. He was fascinated by the fact that it was hydraulic. Then he thought the head of god steering “flashing light” was actually turning when driving. Anyway, all the interest was in the functions, not so much in the looks. I feel Lego Technic is forgetting this aspect lately.
  10. I don’t remember if anybody has already compared the Forest harvester to the pneumatic log loader: https://brickset.com/sets/8443-1/Pneumatic-Log-Loader. The first thing that strikes me comparing the two is that the new model looks much more like a Lego City model. I enjoy the building process, but also like watching how things function. Covering up the models with panels may look more life-like, but you hide the inner functions. Transparent panels on one side would be cool ...
  11. That’s my impression as well. Looks more like a Mercedes GLC Coupe ...
  12. Fascinating! Also following with much interest ...
  13. I had expected a more complex set. Although I like forklifts and have most Technic forklift models, I don’t think this will end up un on my want list. A nice set for kids though, for whom it is intended in the first place of course!
  14. You really perfection your design with each iteration and you are not easily satisfied! Love your video as always. Thumbs up!!
  15. Thanks! Your answer also explains the ground clearance question. I think it is a bit low compared to the original, but now I understand why. I’m looking forward to your next creations ...
  16. Cool MOC of a fascinating vehicle. I looked up the pictures of the « original » Goldacres and was striken by the large white wheels in the tracks. Out of curiosity, have you tried reproducing this?
  17. I actually bought this set for the B-model. My daughters like both the A and B models.
  18. The tracks look too wide for balls to roll, so you will have to use some type of cart ... Maybe you could build some type of car ramp, such as https://goo.gl/images/X24u51. Always fun! I’m curious to see what you will come up with ...
  19. It looks to me that the two squares in front of the crane are used to cover the “trunk” in the middle front part of the crane. Are they intended to be put under the outriggers? What’s in there?
  20. It’s the 2018 set I’m most looking forward to building. First impression when seeing the pictures: It looks a bit messy to me. I’m surprised to see that there is only one extension of the boom. Also the top telescopic part looks too thin.
  21. My question: In how far the existence of MOCs of a model play a role in the decision of Lego to create an official Lego model? Second question would be if the designers have been inspired by or have reused solutions presented in MOCs?
  22. You are a real perfectionist, but I am already amazed how you managed to create all those angles in such a small package. You have already mentioned all the things I can see that are slightly off compared to the original. I will be following this with much interest!
  23. I also like it! A worthy tribute. The funny thing is that it looks as if made with studded lego, while it isn’t! Cool ...
  24. Amazing! I’m really impressed by the functions and density of your build. I would love to build this!! When I look at the picture and your MOC what strikes me as different are the A-pillars and the curve of the silver line. Have you considered changing the A pillars to make them curved instead of straight? Or continue the silver flex thingy, but curved ... Just my two cents how you could make this remarkable model even better.
  25. I'm as always in awe for your creations! You are a real artist! Can't stop watching the pictures ...
