  1. Thank you very much @efferman for the mod. I have tried to decipher it. It concerns more or less the steps 667 and 820. Here are two pictures that show the mod alone. Let me know if I made a mistake. Step 667 Step 820 I have used a dark grey “axle and pin connector perpendicular” brick. It was the first I found. The other pieces are spares included in 42082.
  2. Great! A big thanks to you and Ron!
  3. Fascinating! I like that you have to power it by hand ...
  4. I have finished book 1 as well. I really like this set so far. It is massive, dense and has interesting techniques I often marvelled at and enjoyed building. The steering is very souple and I like the “big” rubber wheel used for the HOG steering. I actually liked the colour vomit while building this set. Because of the nearly symmetrical build, It was very practical to distinguish front from back. It looked cool with all these different colours. Finally, the symmetrical build was not boring for me, it allowed building things by heart the second time ...
  5. Wow! My compliments, what an amazing build. Thank you very much for the instructions and the manual version. I will be building this definitively!
  6. Used ... I was never into the F1 Technic models, but this was a good opportunity to try one out.
  7. Just bought a 8461-1 Williams F1 Set for 40 EUR on a flea market ... No idea if it is a good price, but I guess so
  8. Cool solution for the doors. I really appreciate you collecting all mods in the Pimp up my series. Thanks! Can’t wait to build this ... Indeed! Difficult to understand...
  9. I can imagine he is pleased. It looks fantastic! Now I see the form the ship starts to take ...
  10. Fascinating ... On the one hand I see a "binnenvaartschip" (riverboat?), but then this looks as well like a pool, but just in front of the bridge? No ... I'm in awe as always at your building skills. I hope to have the pleasure once to see your creations in real-life ... Looking forward to your next updates
  11. @dimaks13 Thanks for sharing this info here! A typical H1 line-up, let’s hope the real firework is in H2 ...
  12. @Aleh I’m looking forward to see details about your crane in the separate topic when the time is ripe ...
  13. This reminds me the art of Ursus Wehrli. Check out some of his works “tidying up art”: https://www.boredpanda.com/the-art-of-clean-up-by-ursus-wehrli/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
  14. 42077 is a confirmation of the recent form over function tendancy, whereas Technic should in my opinion always be function over form ... We know that Lego is trying out concepts with children, so maybe this is what today’s youth is more interested in ...
  15. Currently on a holiday in Greece I came across this impressive Liebherr crane in the harbour where we are staying. It is used to lift wind turbine parts that arrive there by boat. The crane seems to be completely modular. I think it would be an excellent model for a MOC. Maybe one day ...
  16. You have hit the nail on what is wrong with this set. I think we will see repetitions of cranes, trucks, etc. every 5-6 years because that is logically the “lifetime” (8-14 years old) of a young Lego Technic client, the primary target group of Lego. Current 10 year olds do not know/cannot obtain the 42009 (released in 2013) and previous cranes, so they will logically be excited with 42082. But Lego should indeed aim to at least improve/innovate and realise that bigger is not necessarily better. What bothers me personally most with this set is that the scale is off and that the boom contains only one extension.
  17. @Erik Leppen I see your points and I understand the reasoning of TLG. I can just share my personal experience: I am an experienced Lego Technic builder, but two of my most memorable recent builds were for a large part thanks to the complex old school style instructions: 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig and the Pimp up my Porsche instructions by @jb70. Compare building the latter to the standard Porsche instructions! It’s another level of complexity! It would be defendable from my point of view to have sets addressed at beginners and sets addressed to more experienced builders and that this is reflected as well in the way the instructions are made. Anyway, I know this is a lost battle ...
  18. I did not think about the layer argument ... Good to hear that there are people who like the current instructions. I nevertheless think the current Technic instructions are in line with an overall tendency of dumbing down everything in order not to turn off/offend somebody. This is also reflected in the color vomit and the introduction of all these coloured axles. A bit of a challenge does not hurt!
  19. Graders appear to be popular as B-model, there is also the 8451 set. I keep hoping to see one day a flagship grader ...
  20. You may have a point. In Greece you see many graders and I have always considered them very cool, in the Netherlands I have never seen one ...
  21. I don’t know if this the right thread, but I just wanted to share my surprise. Normally I only build Lego Technic sets. As many others here I have often expressed my frustration about the one piece per image instructions approach of Lego. I clearly prefer the more challenging old school instructions. I thought this was a general Lego approach, but on a holiday I have been building a regular Lego Christmas set and to my surprise I discovered it contains multiple pieces per image. If you don’t find the pieces corresponding to the image first, you will surely miss something. These Lego Christmas sets are marked as 12+. A real shame Lego is not applying the same logic for Lego Technic 12+ sets ... Maybe we should start a petition?
  22. What I think is still missing is a big yellow flagship Volvo grader. It is a type of vehicle that offers many technical functions and would therefore be interesting. I have seen some good MOCs of graders already. Hmm, I just discovered that 42024 B Model is a grader, but those colours! Aargh!
  23. Thanks for this excellent review. I like the fact that you take on board feedback from the community. I am very much looking forward to building this. A true flagship set. I’m back on board after having skipped 42070.
  24. I don’t have many small Lego Technic sets, but your creations are actually inviting to buy them. I have the Sailing boat and will try building the helicopter. Nice video. I like how you reversed the disassembly making it look like a modular building instruction. Your work reminds me of one of my favourite MOC builders@Tomik. Check out his many creations: http://buildinst.cz/en/catalog/default/3
