[MOD] 42078 Flatbed Trailer
WvG_853 replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was planning to rebuild the 42078, but I will this time build it with your trailer. Thanks for the instructions! -
[TC14] Sky Wheel (VIDEO added)
WvG_853 replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Bricksafe offers some default dimensions, but they are all in landscape mode. Your pictures are in portrait mode. If you change the end of the URL from 800x600.jpg to 600x800.jpg the image is displayed entirely. -
42083 - Bugatti Chiron
WvG_853 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My daughters confronted me shocked when they returned from the supermarket where they had seen the Chiron for the local retail price of 399 EUR. I had to explain I did not pay that much. Still a lot of money ... -
That, its unfinished looks and the price are the main issues with this set. Since you have found it at a decent price and you seem to want it, what’s holding you if you have the money?

[MOC] Citroën DS
WvG_853 replied to Anto's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Bravo! The end result is really cool! Indeed instantly recognisable, but with a certain abstractness that I like particularly. It is both a great model to play with (these turning lights! The air suspension!), but also a display model you can be proud of. I would not mind having it on my desk, but I would probably build it in black. For memories sake ...- 33 replies

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
WvG_853 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Mine wasn’t either, but my teenage daughters loved it. They actually build it entirely themselves! :-) I will now order the pieces for the Pimp up my Chiron version so that I will have an excuse to build it myself. Enjoy! Although the build is fascinating, extremely dense and challenging at times (yeah!), I still like the looks of the Porsche better, especially in the Pimp up my Porsche version. -
Effe's MOC Corner
WvG_853 replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My initial reaction was the flat one, but in the end I prefer the fat one. It is also more in line with the Kalmar ... -
The Lancia Stratos is one of my all-time favourite cars and I am really happy you created this great B-Model! One reason more for those who do not yet have bought the Porsche to get one. Your creation makes it more than a display model. I have bought the instructions already. Once I finish building the Chiron, I think this will be next ... I share what others have expressed already, if this is your first MOC, I am really curious what your next MOCs will be!

Definitively the Porsche ... Order at the same time the pieces to build the Pimp up my Porsche version by @jb70. There is now as well an interesting B model: https://thelegocarblog.com/2018/08/29/my-other-cars-a-porsche/. Good tip to look for a used BWE ...

[WIP] BMW i8
WvG_853 replied to Rolic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Can you maybe upload some more pictures from the different sides against a white background, like this we can better see for instance the rear and provide you useful feedback. Thanks! -

Amazing! Man ... I’m a big fan of your creations! I’m also impressed by the performance of the thing. At the same time your signature colours and attention to detail (I particularly like the animated 3D sign) are the icing on the cake ... -
[MOC] CLAAS Challenger 95E
WvG_853 replied to JLiu15's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I had never seen this model, But before looking up an image I felt something was off with the tracks that seem too low. You mention it yourself in your post, but I wonder if there is no better solution. Maybe one of the tank building experts can give tips ... I think this would also solve the nose looking a bit too long. Thanks for sharing this fascinating MOC with us. A tracked vehicle is always fun ... -
If this MOC was mine, I would probably have called it mobile crane, but at the same time there is the artistic freedom that allows each of us to interpret things as we see them. It is actually quite fascinating to see how each of us has his own building skills, fantasy that can lead to so different results. It would be very boring if we all were building the same things ... If we had this discussion in the scale model forum I would agree. There other (quality) criteria apply ...

This discussion reminds me the first time I showed some pictures I took at the photo club. I got encouraging feedback and continued coming to the club. By seeing the work of others and by practicing my own photography skills improved. If I look back at the first pictures I showed I am embarrassed that I dared showing them, they were so bad, but at the same time I realise how much I have learned and improved over the years. I agree that it is essential to give constructive feedback, but in practice it is not so easy. Sometimes I don’t have the necessary skills, sometimes pictures are so mediocre that there is really not much to say. With Lego Technic and this Forum it is pretty much the same ... What we should not forget in this discussion is that we are writing things in a language that is not our mother tongue and where we are missing the body language. Smilies can help, but it is very easy to misinterpret things written ... Same thought at the same time ... :-)

Impressive how you integrated pneumatics so well. I agree as well that this should have been the official release. It makes it much more fascinating. I would have bought it!

42083 - Bugatti Chiron
WvG_853 replied to Jurss's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Amazon.de is selling the Bugatti Chiron for 274 EUR (26% reduction). I succumbed... My wife will kill me! I guess it will take quite some time for a better offer, so I decided not to wait for it. -
The price is good, I have not seen it lower, but the advice of @Erik Leppen makes sense: compare it to other sets and see if it is worth it for you. Maybe with 25 EUR more you can buy the 42082. If you are just interested in the remote function, 42065 could be interesting (currently 60 EUR at amazon.de). In the end what counts is what YOU like. I myself have decided not to buy this set although I had found it for a similar price. The reason is simply because I don’t like it.

[MOC] Unimog 437
WvG_853 replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have a weak spot for Unimogs, so I always follow your creations with much interest. I particularly like the size and they have simple clear lines, just like the original Unimogs. Thanks for the instructions! Much appreciated...- 28 replies

I really like this topic, but so far I had not shared my workspace here. I store my Lego in the original boxes or if I don’t have the box in Really Useful Boxes (http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/boxdetails.php). They are pricey but excellent. Here is a picture of my Lego Technic storage. This way of storing is not very practical. Say I want to rebuild the BWE which is at the bottom of the second pile. I will have to move everything. It is also not ideal for creating MOCs. I hope to redo this room one day and to install some shelves on the wall. This should facilitate access. A number of sets are on display in the guest sleeping room. As you can see I have a preference for displaying vintage Lego sets. When I start building I often sort bricks in a couple of Allit Europlus Flex 37 boxes. https://www.allit.de/fileadmin/allit_ag/pdf/slo_EuroPlus_Flex.pdf I’m a big fan of these boxes because you can customise the inserts to your needs. Here is an example of set 42078 ready to be build again. Here a close up with part of my Mindstorms NXT 2.0 set. You can take the inserts out which can be practical while building. I build usually in the living room on the coffee table sitting on my knees. The blue yoga mat makes this more comfortable. I have finished building the Pimp up my Porsche and am currently building the 42082. When we have visitors I hide everything under the coffee table. In our living room the only Technic model on display is the 852 helicopter. My second set as a child and an all-time classic!
