  1. @Plastic_Goth's instructions based MOD have finally been built in real life! Here is the loco in all it's glory! …and here is the crew! Left to Right: Conductor: Charles "Charlie" Newman Engineer: Maximilien "Max" Stepwell Fireman: Joseph "Joe" Branson ..also, almost all the photos have been redone, with the weed killer tanker and crew car pictures added to the first post!
  2. The whole train, including the new shovel-nose loco and extra (5th) passenger car. This Zephyr-like loco is going to replace the engine at the head of my Astro-train. I decided to do this for one reason: motorization! I will soon be able to put a 9v motor at the head of the train, running it via electricity for shows with Gateway LUG. The inter-car connection is the same as before, and most of the needed parts for the engine (plus one more passenger car!) will come from the pervious loco. ASTRO-BASE COMMUTER RAILROAD STATION This commuter station will be the departure point for my two Classic Space trains. It features a very low floor with two accessibility ramps to get at the two train tracks - one run through and one stub end. There are two benches, two ticket machines, and a single double-sided analog clock. The manned ticket booth (for those uncomfortable or unfamiliar with the electronic machines) has a sign above it saying the train terminal's name, which is named Astro-Base. This is because it is located next to my Classic Space moon-base. Here we see the other side of the run-through track. When these two projects are bought together, two more straight base walls sections are also added to the list, so the station will have plenty of room inside the walls Thoughts?
  3. Main post UPDATE 7/9/21: Compare V1 of the robot... ...to Version two.. To version 3! ! This newer (or is it older?), Blacktron I style robot will be built later this month. NOTE: The chest should have the “upside down tri-force” logo printed on it. See first post for more details!
  4. I've devised a "wooden" coal hopper for my eight-wide wild West trains that can be filled with either 1 x 1 flat studs or round bricks. However, it can't be emptied unless turned upside down. (This is because I can't figure out a dumping mechanism that won't compromise looks or structural integrity.) Four of these wooden hoppers (and a yellow caboose) will be pulled by the 2-6-2 steam loco I plan on building. Speaking of which, here is the update where is all the eight Western - themed trains I've built (or am building soon) Three of those shown are not yet built in real life, and they are: 4-4-0 + freight train (only about $30 of parts left) 2-8-0 + U.S. military train ($50 worth of parts left) 2-6-2 + silver mine train (unknown amount of parts left, model still needs tweaking) Also, the 4-2-4 still needs photos taken of it and it's nearly-completed train. Any thoughts?
  5. @Calabar: set 60074 by user Stephan no longer works as a downloadable link. Can you please fix it, if possible?
  6. Everything built / done so far (end of June 2021) for my Classic Space base, excepting the Conveyex road train, cause I forgot about it. I'm also giving up on the remodeled base doors, and just using the ones I have already got. I do still need to build / buy the robot docking bay which will go in that hole in the main wall by where the Nucleus train is sitting.
  7. Following the events of The LEGO Movie 2, Emmet Brickowski got to work on building Lucy and himself their dreamhouse again. He made it a bit bigger, a little better, and a lot stronger... just in case of any future Duplo attacks. It also features an attic for extra storage space, on top of the already-new second story. It is a modular style building, with removable floors and connection pins. The furniture (and house colors) were partially inspired by set 70831: Emmet's Dream House/Rescue Rocket, and a few of the official modular buildings. The car was modeled after the 1957 Plymouth Fury, made famous by the Stephen King book "Christine". (It's also a 1983 horror movie of the same name.) I took the original model of the Christine car made by user @hachiroku, which I would link to but can't seem to find anymore... The rear of the house has the entry point to the Duplo Fallout shelter. Why a fallout shelter? Well, the house is from the late 1950's after all... plus, the Duplo creatures are bit rougher in their attitudes and might go about doing something drastic if they don't get their way. Upstairs is the only bedroom, which is plenty big enough for Lucy & Emmett with their respective pictures on the wall above the bed. (They are stickers, sadly) Downstairs is the living and dining rooms, plus the kitchen. It also has the connection pins to hook into the modular building standard. I don't have any real world pictures of the vehicle (yet), but it's been built in real life for some years now... I just have to photograph it. Instead, here are the screenshots I took of the model in 2017 below: The car was modeled after a certain red '57 Plymouth Fury. I made the car black instead of red and took off the parts which I thought would be unstable. This meant taking off the rear wheel covers, revising the front bumper, adding different wheels and a few other small things. The rear of the car features a very ingenious set of taillights. Kudos to Hachiroku for this simple, elegant design! I've already started parts finding for the house part of this project (and I've made quite a dent in the price), so keep your eyes peeled for more pictures coming soon! (Also, I know the parts are kind of dusty, they've been sitting on my desk a while.) As usual, thoughts, complaints, comments and questions always welcome!
  8. A match made in motor heaven, built with a fiery passion for deadly action nothing can extinguish! (The film "Duel" 1955 Peterbilt semi-truck with my take on @hachiroku's older MOC '57 Plymouth Fury from the movie "Christine".) Two killer vehicles, two very thrilling films - coming soon to a auto-lot near you!
  9. Thanks @Man with a hat! Those yellow 2422's on the track holder car were a very neat part to work with, among others. Thank you @JopieK, you made my month. Written words cannot express my gratitude for this, no joke. (Emoji's might try, though: )
  10. You REALY don't want to see this in your rearview mirror as this truck is killer! This 8-wide LEGO MOC is inspired by the villain vehicle (driven by an unseen psycho trucker) as featured in the TV production-turned-feature film "Duel", which was Steven Spielberg's first feature-length film by the way. It also uses parts of the truck in Jurassic World set 76948 (T. rex & Atrociraptor Dinosaur Breakout) as a general guide to the cab area, and CITY set 60357 (Stunt Truck and Ring of Fire Challenge) for the area forward of the actual driver's compartment. The 1955 Peterbuilt 281 'needlenose' semi truck, with tanker trailer attached, is what was used in the film originally. Later, as the film was extended for theatrical release, a 351 was used as a stand-in for more scenes due to the original truck being... unable to fulfill it's role. (watch the movie so you know what I mean!) I've tried to make it as accurate as possible to the original 251, with the AC unit behind the cab, sleek streamlined 1950's tanker design, and single exhaust pipe in black. There is a steering wheel in the cab, but no way to place a figure at the controls. This is because we never see the driver's face in the film. So putting a placeholder in there would be totally inaccurate. The tanker by itself, balanced upright by my finger on the back bumper. This is because I didn't add jacks / stands underneath the trailer that are used when the cab is separated from the trailer. The truck seen in most (some added scenes used a 351 model of the same truck maker) of the 1971 action-thriller film is a 1955 Peterbilt 281, which Steven Spielberg selected because of the long hood of the Peterbilt, its split windshield, and its round headlights gave it more of a "face", adding to its menacing personality. Additionally, Spielberg said that the multiple license plates on the front bumper of the Peterbilt subtly suggested that the truck driver is a serial killer, having "run down other drivers in other states". (The above paragraph is taken from Wikipedia article on the film) Any thoughts on this model or it's accuracy? Comments, questions and complaints always welcome! UPDATE 5/22/23: Real world photos added!
  11. This model was originally inspired by set 9515, Imperial V-Wing Fighter, from 2011's Star Wars lineup. I've made it into a Blacktron 3 version (which I've called a Victory Wing) with lime accents and a trans-bright-green canopy. I also added four non-folding Art-Deco style wings from the LEGO Batman Movie sets, to give it a sleek / fast-moving look, even when it's sitting still. Both the ships wings features twin laser guns, bringing it's firepower up to four blasters total. The vessel also has two engines at the center-rear. The cockpit opens up, letting you place a mini-figure pilot at the controls. I'm going to give two of these neat little fighters to my brother for Christmas, while I keep the BT3 robot I'm building for my own purposes. You can see his awesome BT3 setup (with Roller Coaster "monorail" in place) here.
  12. I just had an idea for a fine new addition to my collection! I will turn new set 75311 (Imperial Armored Marauder from the just-revealed summer Star Wars lineup) into a Classic Space version, complete with a more substantial (and elevating!) rear laser turret and revised forward-facing side guns. I will build two for my CS Moon base, and off course it would be mostly in blue and gray, with some trans-yellow and printed bumblebee stripes. (I just need to buy two sets and recolor most of the exterior, plus add the new (better) rear defense turret. Any thoughts on the upcoming MOD?
  13. Same @Good and Swordy. I still dream about LU coming back / playing it sometimes.... I have given up on the restored edition the fans made (that LEGO took an interest in) ever coming out..
  14. Thanks @Barkmi4, I'll look into redoing the crane with more functionality. No problem @cava! Thank you for the compliment! This yellow 4-8-4 model has been ordered as of yesterday. Above shows what parts have been found in my own collection. ...and to whoever front-paged me and this topic, thanks! It's my first time ever having that honor since joining Eurobricks in 2010.
  15. Does you track need to be repaired after a major storm? Want to connect Point A to Point B with a brand new rail-line? Did the Flying Kipper have another accident on the main line? Or maybe you want to upgrade the signaling and double track the line at the same time? Call out the Maintenance Of Way (MOW) train to fix all these problems and more! This train consists of a late-1950's diesel locomotive, or a mid-1930's large eight-driving wheel steam engine and six specialty cars: - a (working!) crane car - depressed-center rail wagon - a (working!) ballast hopper - a tanker car - workman's tool car - caboose The 4-8-4 steam loco is new-to-me, and began life as a 2-8-4 Berkshire type built by Plastic_Goth and purchased from Rebrickable a seen here. To make this steamer, I upped the wheel count of @Plastic_Goth's locomotive by another leading axle, making it into a 4-8-4 Northern-type from the original 2-8-4 as built in the instructions. The new piston / wheel assembly is entirely my own work, as is the completely new 7-wide tender. The inside of the cab features two gauges and the firebox door. This model was originally a ALCO MRS-1 built by @SavaTheAggie, but has been so severely modified that it no longer looks like the prototype loco. So I went searching And found another ALCO locomotive, a RSD-12 that looks like my loco. Both my model and the prototype have the six wheels, and the same basic hood and cab design. The long hood of the loco has been designated the rear with a double red light. This car carries liquid weed killer for use after the track has been laid. This stream crane model was heavily inspired by Whoward69's instructions for a set of crane and match truck train cars. I modified the original model seen here. (sadly, it seems his Flickr profile and pictures has been deleted) I originally meant for the crane to have ropes to move the boom, but it got confusing on which rope went where so for now it's moved by the H.O.G. (Hand Of God) method. The crane can spin around in 360 degrees and lift anywhere up to 90 degrees straight up. (Their is a double set of pins keeping the boom from going too low, as well.) The heavy-duty depressed-center wagon has brick-built arms to secure the cargo of prefabricated railroad track in place. This model was inspired by a coal hopper on an older website called LGauge .com. I turned the old finger hinges into new pin-orientated ones and colored the car yellow to match the MOW paint scheme. The hopper's bottom doors open and can dump 1 x 1 round plates / bricks onto the tracks for ballast. This old passenger car carries the workmen and their tools. The caboose features two ladders (one per side) and more of those fancy printed 2 x 4 tiles. If you like what you see in this topic, check out the home base of the train and assorted other vehicles in this thread here! Thoughts? Comments, Suggestions, & Complaints always welcome!
  16. Main post UPDATE 6/18/21: Compare V1 of the robot... ...to Version two! This newer, retro-'50's style robot will be built next month. Thoughts?
  17. These vehicles are not done, but are close enough to the finished state to photograph. (from certain angles only!) The 60192 (City Arctic Ice Crawler) MOD is on the left, while the muscle car on the right is inspired by TLM2 set 70829. (Emmet and Lucy's Escape Buggy!) The Crawler is 99% done except for two click hinge pieces on the back left leg, while the 1970's-style muscle car is only missing it's trans-yellow windscreen, which should be available soon from City's STUNTZ lineup, in set 60295. (Stunt Show Arena) That's why I can only show off a rear shot of the car - it doesn't look right without it. Thoughts?
  18. This model was taken from a Rebrickable MOC of the LEGO Worlds spaceship "PUG-Z" that user "TOB1 bricks" recreated here. I took the free instructions' MOC, and changed them (I removed the toilet, as it was causing problems with the roof) and altered the colors from orange, yellow, and bright light orange to a predominantly black and red model with some light / dark grays thrown in for good measure. I also modified other parts of the ship, making the radio antennas a bit shorter and adding trans-green "freeze" blasters to the ship where the forward-facing lights used to go. The rear of the ship has this 2 x 2 round symbol for the ship's owner / affiliation, along with tow small booster rockets alongside the main engine. The top opens up / out and the computer wall folds down to become a bed. (I had to take the toilet out as it wasn't playing nice with the roof in LDD.) Oh, and the landing legs fold backwards for flight. Here we see the owner of the ship (and his laser pulse rifle), who is a methane breathing reptile-like alien named Zath-ann. He wears a rebreather to properly function in oxygen-based environments and doesn't take it off in his ship because he hasn't got it converted to a methane-orientated life support system yet... it's on the to-do list though. Special thanks to Carl Greatix (designer for TT games) & Mark Stafford for the in-game model. Any thoughts on this MOD? Comments, questions, and complaints always welcome!
  19. In-universe backstory: Long ago, the world of Zonia (home-world of Classic Space) was a peaceful planet, with it's own interstellar spacefaring fleet and a moon brimming with lunar bases and habitation domes for the minifigs who lived there. They had no real major weapons development for hundreds of years, and no need for it anyway... it was a happy place with smiles everywhere you looked. This peace was not to last. Just beyond the moon orbiting Zonia, there was a rip in spacetime that formed slowly over several millennia. This strange tear was generally unnoticed by the various space fleets. However, ships did disappear occasionally in that area, and thus it became a cursed quadrant, as more ships vanished and the rip grew in all three dimensions. Eventually, it became big enough in size to be seen visibly from the moon's surface. Then, as the unease and restlessness caused by the tear in spacetime grew to near paranoia, a very large being appeared from the tear and crashed into the nearby moon, seemingly injured, if not dead, from it's trip through the nether between the universes. The planetary government of Zonia, sensing the mood of the populace, silenced all non-official communications between the moon bases and the surface of Zonia. A blockade was also effected, sealing the area off from everyone but the command and scientific arms of the Government. Immediately, the curious populace used whatever they could find to observe the creature from the planet: telescopes, binoculars, and those with good eyesight and a little know-how saw what the rulers didn't want them to - the stellar being was injured and dying, and the Zonia leaders were fighting amongst themselves on what to do about it. One side (the scientists) wanted the severely burned and blackened being merely stabilized, and moved elsewhere to study and eventually be released into outer space quadrant where it had come. The command arm, however, wanted to augment the being with advanced weaponry while clearing it's mind of everything personality-wise for use as a war drone, as it could be this being was an accidental advance warning of an incoming invasion. The commanders won out by sheer power of numbers via a electronic vote, and the work was begun begrudgingly by the science arm. The ruined lower arms were removed by the scientists while the being was incapacitated by it's journey and impact on the moon. They added a laser arm to the left side (originally designed for drilling into the core of meteor samples) and a immense gripper claw to the right... a hand design couldn't be worked out due to difficulties with copying the quite mangled original hand. This is where things went south: the command arm responsible for the decisions just described was touring the facility while the mind wipe was being done. Conscience and feeling of guilt had been removed, while most of the emotions were going out when the being awoke. (It is worth mentioning at this point that Compassion, care, and love were gone. However, rage, hatred, cunning, and the original intelligence / memories remained inside the mind when it emerged from it's long slumber) Needleless to say, it was a massacre. The being culled only those that purposely had hurt it during it's sleep: the command staff. The scientist there that day were spared death, as they had been doing no intentional harm and had wanted nothing to do with the plans it was forced to carry out. This wasn't the end, however. The moon of Zonia began to move under the telekinetic power of the being, and some of the remaining science staff were allowed to flee... about 1/2 of the entire Ministry of Science left the moon and returned to their world, while the remains of the command staff and their allies stood motionless. They were being remotely mindwiped by the towering being, becoming drones themselves as they had wished to do to the celestial stranger. The being then warned the Zonia people directly with a broadcast to every device on the planet: Do not interfere with me again, or risk becoming drones like your countrymen. It ended the broadcast by first signaling the logo of the lunar base on which it has been experimented on, albeit with a color change to black background (signifying the burned skin of the being) with three yellow triangles in a pattern now synonymous with evil. Then, that faded away with the robot's ingrained military designation from the now-dead CS commanders coming onto the screen: Blacktron-1 Then the moon disappeared into the space rift to a destination unknown, leaving the world of Zonia in peace once more. But for the galaxy at large, there would be no peace - only the rise of Blacktron! Model and notes: For this model, I used parts and ideas from the Eternals line's "In Arishem's Shadow" set 76155 (body / head / upper legs + arms) and "Hydra Stomper" set 76201 (Laser power / jet pack thing on the back of the robot) mech models from Marvel, along with claw from the old Agents 2.0' "Robot Attack" set 8970. The lower legs and laser arm are (modified) holdovers from the "Build Better Bricks" Iron Giant instructions. I think he looks quite menacing, what about you? This "war-bot" is supposed to be an opposite (yet equal in strength) foe for my Classic Space fleet, and an enemy to "fight" at any future displays and on my space layout. He is slightly shorter in stature than my Classic Space robot, but his laser arm and crusher-claw hand make up for it! I thought robots were "To Serve Man".... Any thoughts? Comments, questions, and complaints welcome! Edited 10/24/21: Added real world pictures of the model.
  20. New trans-yellow windscreen part alert in set 60295, on the magenta roofed-monster truck: Oh, and side note, Rocket Racer (FINALLY) becomes a real minifig: He is from the Racers games of the late 1990's.
  21. This eight-wide Classic Space model was loosely based upon cobbled-together hot rod in set 70829 (Emmet and Lucy's Escape Buggy!) from the LEGO Movie 2 - the second part. (and yes, It's a MOD of an earlier MOC model from 2019.) I have reconfigured the car's front end (the only part I kept mostly intact from the set) for use with Benny the 1980-something space guy, and added trans-yellow windows, a blue + light gray paint scheme, with additional black / yellow bumblebee stripes for good measure. I have removed the set's wild suspension, and added a more tame rear half to better match the front portion. This looks (to me) like a late 1970's muscle car, of the same time frame when Classic Space launched in 1978. The car also has two side mirrors, red wheels, and a license plate in the back instead of the original huge engine and jet booster exhaust outlet. In addition, the printed Classic Space logo goes on the middle 4 x 2 slope on the trunk area. The car has inside seating for the driver, and a new trans-yellow windscreen part (!) from summer 2021 set 60295. (Stunt Show arena) NOTE: This model (minus the new windscreen) and the Lunar Crater Crawler have been ordered as of yesterday, the 10th of June. Thoughts?
  22. This model is based off 60192 (Arctic Ice Crawler) from the 2018 CITY Arctic theme, this MOD is called the Lunar Crater Crawler and moves boulders with it's rather large gripping claw tool. It can seat one fully-suited astronaut figure. It also has printed controls in front of the space seat. Floodlights sit on the sides of the craft, allowing you to see on the dark side of the moon, while there is a clip for a handheld radio should you need to contact the command base. The rear should feature the Classic Space logo on a 4x2 slope, while a bumblebee stripe printed 1 x 2 tile goes above the logo. This printed pieces will be applied in real life once it's built. Any thoughts?
  23. Awesome! Cool space MOCs, @Operacion Saturno, and thanks for liking the CS Iron Giant! It's certainly been a long haul to get that MOC stable enough to do stuff like this picture above. Here is the new base overview, with the new, larger base doors and a few surprise models built in for future projects. (see if you can spot them!) This is a major design update to the base’s two land-vehicle entry doors! This new, larger base swing-open door will replace the older sliding ones currently used, which were based on set 75919 (Indominus Rex Breakout) from 2015’s Jurassic World. This new design is based on set 7709 (Sentai Fortress) from 2006’s Exo Force. They have in-built RC train tracks, which can be changed over to 9V tracks quite easily. They are the same size as the old doors in wall length (two modules long), and will slip right in where the older ones were quite easily. They also allow for taller cargo trains to go through the doors easier, as before there was a height restriction. (Yes, there are two technic connectors missing. LDD's air-tight part tolerances won't let me add them in, sadly.) I was planning on doing the doors like the original Senati Fortress using the original part, but in yellow like shown in the Brick-Link picture above. This became impossible when the part sold out in quantity greater than four or five. (I needed 12 total for both doors.) Thus, the new design was created using the newer girder parts, which conveniently are the same size as the previous part when used in pairs of two. Any thoughts on these new developments?
