  1. Classic WTC - and good to see the long running horse meat gag make another appearance! Although I'm not too sure a horse, even one fortified with hard liquor, would ever walk willingly into a meat grinder.....
  2. I'm liking the beginnings of the fort - as Flavius mentions all that yellow is going to make a very classic look. The mini fort is very nicely done as well, the mortar was instantly recognisable. Also, I haven't commented before, but I like the Mordo minifig combo. This will probably betray my ignorance here, but it's a superhero combo right? Also I can't remember, is Mordo your sigfig? Allcock will reply shortly. I'm going to be short of building time for the next couple of days though, so it may be a bit delayed.
  3. Nice build and very convenient for your arrival to take place in front of an artisan! (will you licence it?) Not sure if I've mentioned it before but the use of that town torso is very clever for the naval personnel - I have stolen it for the helmsman on my frigate (unfortunately I only have one). Cool pigeons and it is also nice to see some of Bregir's colonial troops as well. I really love the effort you went to to tie in elements from lots of different Corries here. Great job!
  4. I cheated and used superglue/the kraggle!
  5. HMS Royal Oak has finally completed her refit and shake down cruises and is now commissioned as a sixth rate in the Royal Navy. More images and her original story here:
  6. So over a year later I have finally got around to photographing HMS Royal Oak in Corrie colours. I never got to finish the rigging, and it isn't going to happen anytime soon, so I finally stopped procrastinating and took some shots. As you can see I still struggle to photograph larger builds.... She is a twenty eight gun frigate, although only has 20 guns in her main gun line. As promised she is offered to the Royal Navy as part of the Cruisers of Terra Nova initiative. I believe in the transition to MRCA 2.0 she was rated as a class 6, but I will confer with Bregir for her final statistics.
  7. The Lavender Inn, a medium artisan
  8. Ella Hutchins is a recent graduate of the University of Belson with a major in Botany. At the top of her class, she recently received correspondence from Royal Society of Natural Philosophy member and Governor of the Paradise Isles Dirk Allcock inviting her to Jameston to take up the position of Chief Scientist in an expedition he plans into the interior of Celestia. Thrilled by the idea of pioneering the discovery of new plants in Terra Nova, and hopeful for membership in the Royal Society, Ella eagerly accepted and has recently arrived in Jameston. To serve as headquarters for the expedition, Governor Allcock has rented out the entire premises of the Lavender Inn, a respectable establishment in Jameston. Miss Hutchins is boarding there while making preparations and meeting the principle members of the expedition. Here Dirk and Ella discuss details of the expedition The principle members of the expedition are: Licensed as a medium artisan. Additional Image: I've been wanting to use lavender coloured bricks for some time now - originally they were for Weelond and an Oktoberfest entry that didn't pan out. Anyway I didn't have enough for two levels, but I had some sand green on my desk from another discarded project and I put them together coincidently and decided that they really work well together... well at least I think they do! Not a combination I ever expected to build in!
  9. No you didn't, but Mesabi did.... surely IC you can see why we would never allow this...
  10. There is a big difference between a ship arriving in a settlement with some privately owned armed marines on board and a trade company proposing to land a Regiment of private troops on an island during a trial where members of that same trade company stand accused of piracy. To my understanding the WTC are free to trade anywhere in Corrington, and their understandably armed merchant vessels may land anywhere. But deploying an armed body of formed troops to another settlement is an automatic right reserved only to the crown. Let me be very clear. None of my characters are preventing trade. They will however take steps to prevent a potentially hostile non-government military force landing in areas their jurisdiction. Not true. The southern Isles are clearly defined in the opening pages of the Corrington thread as comprising of the Crown territories of Alicentia and Cocovia:
  11. @Mesabi -------- Mooreton Bay, 18 December 617AE The Lady Agnes Mesabi, Countess of Debonshire and Acting Head of the WTC Ma'am, Allow me to reiterate what I so patiently explained to your college Kadeus Mordo. A WTC Captain and Crew are accused of High Seas Piracy and will be tried in a Court as per the laws of Corrington. This is not my doing. I am following lawful orders from the Admiralty who, as you are well aware, oversee the administration of the colonies. The financial concerns of your company are of no relevance to me in the execution of these orders. To suggest the Crown would pay you compensation for holding your vessel is quite simply preposterous, however should you wish to pursue this course of action, I suggest you take it up with the Admiralty, not myself. You are quite right however, to remind me that the crew are my responsibility. As such I have ordered them under arrest and had them placed in gaol to remove any temptation for as you state, the opportunity for " Razing, Piracy, Murder, Theft, Drunkenness, and Assassination". Lastly, I have had correspondence with Admiral Fletcher regarding the WTC Icarus Returning. You or your agents are free to collect the ship, minus the current crew and captain. I shall gladly order the ship turned over to the WTC at the first available opportunity. James Hume Mayor of Mooreton Bay
  12. Nice, the photo and focus are perfect. Better drill those gunners well, looks like we going to need them one way or another...
  13. Echoing Captain Dee, what a beautiful build with really great atmosphere. I love the way the open plains roll into the gully with the wooded creek, and those brick built deer are great as well. Fantastic job!
  14. This is totally awesome Drunknok - very impressive indeed! Lots of great details all round combine to make a very pleasing scene. The WTC Harbour office is my favourite, the green looks great, and the ruins of the office port office are very well done as well - I may have a go at 'rebuilding' soon! For now I can't think of anything that needs depicting. I hope to have my next addition to Mesabi Landing up within the next 24 hours though, so you may want to hold off until after that for your response.
  15. Good luck Miss Winterbottom! Although she may soon have some unexpected support..... Great concept here, it's time this most un-Corlander like settlement was brought back into the fold!
  16. Certainly a very functional courthouse ready for the trial to begin! Once it gets some figures and additional details in the interior, I think it will feel a bit less empty. If you have brown tiles, the tables badly need them! Also, maybe print out a picture of the Queen for a frame behind the judges chair? Done! Mooreton Bay is going to have more art and culture than most Oleon cities at this rate!
  17. After receiving the Countess' letter, James Hume summons the commander of the militia, Captain Stanley, and the commander of the regulars, Captain Willard to his office. "Gentlemen, I have received further correspondence from the WTC which I believe contains thinly veiled threats of civil unrest from the interned WTC crew here. Therefore, although it pains me to do so, they are to be immediately detained in the town goal in the same manner as their captain. Please make it so." And so now, as a direct result of WTC posturing, both the Captain and crew are contained under heavy guard in the town gaol. @Bregir Mooreton Bay, 18 December 617AE His Excellency the Colonial Governor of the Southern Isles, Captain Jonathon Cooke RN. Dear Sir, I write to inform you of events surrounding the detention of the captain and crew of the WTC Icarus Returning. As you will already be aware, Captain Tyrell has been under arrest for a week now since the seizure of his vessel. The crew have now joined him in this state of arrest after several thinly veiled threats of civil unrest from their masters in the WTC. Although I believe the situation to be under hand right now, I write this note to inform you that I expect trouble from the WTC, possibly even before the trial begins. I remain Sir, Your most obedient servant, James Hume Mayor of Mooreton Bay
  18. Thanks for the comments all, some of you may have seen the WTC's reply in the Mooreton Bay thread, if not here it is: And here is Mayor James Hume's response: Mooreton Bay, 18 December 617AE Kadeus Mordo, Representative of the Wayfarer Trading Company. Dear Sir, I thank you for your efforts to avoid confusion and I applaud your decision to establish communication around this issue. It does however, seem you hold a number of serious misconceptions which I will attempt to correct. As you have been blunt, allow me to be so in return. Firstly, you seem to be under the impression that your company somehow holds equal standing with the Colonial authorities and the Regular forces of Her Majesty. Let me disabuse you of this notion now. The WTC is a private entity that bears no official standing in the management of Her Majesty's Colonies in New Terra. Regarding the detention of the WTC Icarus Returning. Both the Captain and crew of the ship are being detained in Mooreton Bay by direct order of the Colonial Commander in Chief, Rear Admiral Fletcher of the Royal Navy. It was my intent to house both the crew and captain in relative freedom while the authorities in Arlinsport arranged for an investigation into the serious accusations of piracy on the high seas. However, Captain Tyrell attempted to violently resist the Officer of the Crown tasked with announcing the detention. Thankfully, his crew had more sense, and after only limited resistance, the Captain was detained. Unfortunately however during the initial scuffle, one of the WTC sailors, who was at the time suffering the effects of excessive consumption of rum, fell of the jetty and drowned in the harbour. Captain Tyrell's incarceration is a direct result of his own hostility and refusal to cooperate. To suggest the Officer who carried out the detention has anything to answer for is as preposterous as it is impertinent. You describe the detention of the crew as a mockery of justice, then you go on to propose that the crew are handed over to the WTC to investigate. Are you Sir, quite right in the head? Has the heat of the tropics addled your brain? Just to be clear, a Captain and crew of your company have been accused of piracy, yet you believe it would be appropriate for the Crown to hand over the investigation to your company? This is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I have heard in all my time in the civil service. Lastly you speak of possible unrest your crew may 'unleash'. I shall choose not to take this as a threat to cause unrest or an attempt to influence the outcome of this investigation, although I caution you to use your words more wisely in the future. Any unrest will be put down by the local militia, who have been re-enforced with regular troops. The crew would immediately be placed under harsher detention with criminal charges being brought against any who break the law. You mention 'WTC forces' being sent to Mooreton Bay. Let me be very clear. Any landing of private armed troops on Alicentia without the express permission of Colonial Governor Cooke shall be considered to constitute an armed insurrection against Her Majesty which shall be dealt with by overwhelming force and to the fullest possible extent of the law. The investigation has thus far revealed enough evidence for a trial. A special prosecutor is being brought in from Belson along with a Judge of high standing from the Belson courts. The WTC are welcome to provide the defendant with consul. James Hume Mayor of Mooreton Bay
  19. Great scene! I agree, this pretty much sums up how I feel! I really love this scene - as others have already mentioned, the minifig posing is brilliant. The house itself looks great, the desert feel is well captured. Great work!
  20. Just a reminder, remember that just because this prospect discovered coal, it doesn't mean coal is the only mineral resource on the island. Additional prospecting scenes may uncover different minerals....or they may not!
  21. Firstly the build, I like it - relatively simple, yet the hinged floor really adds a lot. The nice smooth tan walls also work quite well with the wooden floor and furniture. Minifigs are really well done as well, and I wasn't aware that wig came in tan - very nice! (*sigh*, BL here I come... again!) However story-wise, I believe I speak for most of Corrington when I express that we as a faction a bit surprised and confused by the story. For example, To the best of my knowledge Sinbad is not a wanted man in Corrington, we have certainly never issued a warrant for his arrest, nor are there any court sessions currently underway in King's Harbour (Mooreton Bay however is another story ) I don't mean to come over as rude or as an obstructionist, and indeed I am very interested in where this story will go, but I do have concerns that my factions interests are at danger of being misrepresented IC - and I know I am not the only Corrie to have these concerns. I'll admit that I am not very experienced in role playing games (this is the only one I've ever really played), but if I was planning a build where I was going to have a character speak on behalf of an official from another faction (eg a judge), I would consider it necessary to at the very least sound that faction's leadership out before I did so. Indeed I do it even within our faction between players (eg. I contacted Mesabi before my last build where one of my characters detains one of his and we discussed how we'd present it before I posted). Anyway, my point is that I believe we would certainly encourage a collaboration here, or even just a continuation of your own story if our faction leadership was informed of your intent before hand - can you clarify the points I have raised above?
  22. I’ve said it before, but I do love dark red and it looks great here! Nice texture and design for the warehouse and great minifig placement. Summary execution seems overly harsh although, you could have at least had a quick trial and public execution great job!
  23. Ok, I'm going to tentatively dip a toe into the mystical world of ship building again! I'm trying to build a brick built hull using the hinge method, starting with a smaller (class 2) vessel. Here is what I have so far: Any tips would be appreciated, although the parts I am struggling with at the moment are how to integrate the curved hull into the bow and stern.
