  1. A tailor's shop (small artisan) has opened in Jameston. And a barbershop (small artisan) follows a few days later
  2. On the same street as the Allcock Trading Offices and Temple of Poseidon stands a new tailor's shop. Run by two enterprising young women, the shop makes and repairs quality clothes for the citizens of the settlement. Will be licensed as a small artisan. This is the third of my 20x20 modules intended to be joined together for a large street scene. Hopefully I'll start putting together the scene after the next couple of builds.
  3. I can't (I don't have edit power!) @Bregir ?
  4. The Office of the Governor, Jameston, Celestia, Paradise Isles. 4 November 617AE Citizens of Corrington in New Terra, The Corlander settlement of Jameston is looking to increase it's industrial capacity. To this end as Governor, I have recently authorised incentives for individuals and companies to invest in this area in Jameston. For each factory established in Jameston in the month of November, the Colonial government will not only pay the full licensing fee, but also award a bounty dependent on the size of the factory. Large factories shall receive a bounty of 400DB, medium 200DB and small 100DB. Due to our famous national innovation, remember that Corlander factories attract greater profits and running costs are cheaper than other nations. Unlike certain other nations of the Brick Seas, Corlander ports in the Paradise Isles shall remain open to all nations tariff free and foreign investment is welcomed (OOC this incentive applies all all BoBS members, not just those of Corrington). Interested parties should contact the office of the governor to apply. (OOC post your MOC in the Jameston thread and the money shall be transferred). Long Live the Queen! Dirk Allcock, Colonel and Knight of the order of the Compass Rose, Governor of the Paradise Isles.
  5. Thank you all for the comments, I agree and I did consider adding some tan pieces as random highlights, but it just didn't feel right for a new building.... Maybe the walls need a chip here or there... I totally agree. I meant to have a minifig in there knelling and a plate with some offerings, but after having it sit unfinished on my desk for almost three weeks, I got a little too excited when the roof finally went on and totally forgot!
  6. I love your Mardierian troops. The MOC too is great, but those troops are awesome! I too am sad to see Meloche go, he was a thoroughly unlike-able character but his story was one of the best here! Looking forward to the next era's storyline.
  7. This is an awesome factory that I will be studding closely when the time comes to make my own distillery! I really love the equipment and the way you have presented it indeed fits how I imagine Tortuga very well! Great job! Funny story - The most drunk I have ever been in my life was in Norway. We meet some locals at a lake somewhere up near the Arctic circle who distilled their own liquor.... It was terrible - they were drinking it like it was water and I couldn't even hold the second lot in my mouth - let alone swallow!!! Needless to say the most hung over I've ever been was also in Norway!
  8. So many great features and details. I especially like the taps on the kegs of beer and the rotisserie for the pig! Great entry!
  9. Fantasic MOC Sir Stig, it really creates a great feel for Garvey and her colonies. I especially like the larger building on the left - the dark red highlights are great and the use of the turntable bases as decorations on the top floor really stand out. The minifig combo for the old man is also especially good, as is the Garvian naval officer with the SW hat. I certainly hope the gamemasters reward such a great MOC in the next round of your AMRCA!
  10. Wow, you guys are really putting the M back into MRCA!! Great job and I look forward to this next one!
  11. A temple of Poseidon has constructed so that sailors may leave offerings to appease the god of the seas. Licensed as a small art and culture
  12. While to most outsiders Corlanders are not known as a pious people, many still follow the old ways, especially those from rural or outlying areas. Where Corrington differs from the majority of the nations of the Madrice peninsula, is that for a couple of hundred years now the Faith has been completely separated from the state. Corlanders are still free to practice any religious beliefs, but only so far as those activities do not conflict with the secular laws of the state. Dirk Allcock is not among the pious of his countrymen. A man of science he has little time for what he considers myths and fairytales. As colonial governor however, when a group of Priests of Poseidon approached him seeking permission to construct a small shrine in the docks of Jameston, he immediately recognised the advantages and gave his approval. To be licensed as a small art and culture by the settlement of Jameston. Technique for the pattern above the archway is from here
  13. I like the idea to experiment with the two types of plants! Hopefully one or the other turns up that bonus - but will you be able to tell which one it is? Good luck!
  14. Great plantations, I really like the way you have done the agave plants. When I was considering how to build agave I had thought to use this part, but I don't have very many and I think yours probably look better than any combo using that spike! Great job!
  15. Oh Kai, please, please do not pass this up!!!!! Guy's Uncle hasn't strung anyone up by the ankles for a while - he must be itching at the prospect!!!! Mesabi - as discussed previously I like the concept here. I would have liked to have seen more flowers on the plantation however I understand your current limitations. The building itself looks ok, and the walls are somewhat growing on me....
  16. @Drunknok That isn't a problem, so Yay
  17. Great little micro, I love the way you've done the roof
  18. @Mesabi If I were you I'd look up which famous spirit is made using agave... I'm sure the Count would be into that industry... and you'd potentially get the island bonus....
  19. I'm not on the court so I will defer to them for a final answer, but as faction (semi)leadership in short the answer is no. As @Drunknok points out opium is neither sweet, nor a succulent. You can by all means have an opium plantation(s) and go into the narcotics trade, but you will only gain any island bonuses if you are able to discover the plant that the original descriptions refer to. I suspect it will turn out to be Agave. Regarding the build, it is simple but effective at conveying your story. I like the idea of the discovering this and trying to break into the opium market (maybe this could be the WTC's aim for a monopoly) On a separate note, should Agnes present some of her botanical findings to the Royal Society, I'm pretty sure Colonel Allcock would sponsor her for membership.
  20. The rules are open to a fair amount of interpretation, especially with builds that don't quite fit in any of the categories. As long as you aren't perceived to be 'gaming' the system by making a property type something it clearly isn't, you shouldn't have any issues. In this case I am with Mesabi here. The purpose of a lighthouse is to safeguard shipping. Shipping is primarily a commercial or naval venture, and it can be argued that one of the navy's main purposes is to protect commercial shipping. Thus I believe making it perfectly acceptable to licence as a commercial property. Should I build a lighthouse that is what I would licence as. An artisan could equally make sense in that there is probably a certain amount of skill in successfully operating a lighthouse... or a residence because as you say someone lives there. Whatever you choose, as long as you can reasonably justify your choice, nobody should question it. I can't remember where the rules for Trade Companies are stipulated, and I can't find them in any of the main indexes. However, from memory to have a Trade Company recognised it requires several active members, one property licensed as a headquarters, two properties licensed as warehouses and at least one licensed ship. I think you can have an EGS account before the TC is recognised to allow you to license the required builds, you'd need to request one is made in the Accounts Summary thread, however I think that to have the account created you'd need more than one active member. To gain a monopoly is hard - again from memory I think only one has been granted since the start of the game, and that was apples for MAESTRO. I am fuzzy on the exact requirements, but I believe you need multiple builds by multiple builders over an extended period of time. Leadership or should be able to clarify both points, but I hope that helps for now.
  21. The following is from the Basic EGS rules thread: (I was on my phone before so didn't link it) So by entering all your previous builds in the same month, you have limited the amount you can earn. It might save the Count some economic stress if you submit as you go from now on! @Kolonialbeamter Thanks for the signature tags! They look awesome!
  22. It gives you DBs for freebuilds... no wonder you are broke!!!!
