  1. Colonel Allcock's expedition set out from Jameston heading west into the mountain range that could be seen on clear days towering above the jungle. The expedition traveled at a leisurely pace, giving Miss Hutchins time to record the flora they encountered, while Colonel Allcock concentrated on the fauna. One of the first specimens Miss Hutchins described was the palm tree that had become dubbed the 'pith' palm. This palm was common around the surrounds of Jameston, indeed examples still stood in the town itself. An excerpt from Ella's notes: This palm is abundant throughout the environs of Vanilla Bay. Although the palm appears to thrive in the more open areas around the settlement, it specimens can also be found deeper into the jungle. Growing to a maximum height of around 4-5 metres, it is distinctive from other palms in the unusual shaped segments of the trunk, which are a dark tan colour. The palm has medium sized fronds which vary in colour from bright lime new growth to a darker green. Large coconut type fruit are produced. After soon weeks, the expedition has moved high into the mist covered ranges. While traversing a particularly tricky path, Miss Hutchins spots a bright coloured orchid halfway down a steep ridge. In the name of science, Dirk volunteers to scale down to take a sample. While dangling on a rope over the specimen, he freezes when he hears the sounds of a large animal approaching from below. A huge tiger bursts from the undergrowth, and leisurely pads along the small stream at the bottom of the ravine. Hardly daring to breath, Dirk realises the tiger is usually coloured, instead of the normal orange pelt, this specimen is pure white with the distinctive black strips of the specie. Muscle rippling, the tiger stalks off down the ravine, if it noticed Dirk dangling from the rope, it contemptuously ignored him. An excerpt from Dirk's journal: Today we came across a extraordinary example of the islands large cats. While jaguar have been observed before on Celestia, their numbers are much smaller than those found on Cascadia, probably due to the smaller number of medium-large mammals to prey on. This cat was different. Bigger than a jaguar, it resembled the tigers seen on Cascadia which we speculate were introduced by feline oculists during the height of the Myzec Empire from southern Halos. This cat however had a pure white coat underneath the distinctive black stripes, unlike the orange of the examples seen on Cascadia. Although I could not say for sure, the eyes did not appear pink like those of an albino. Like the black jaguars (or panthers) of Cascadia, I suspect this to be the same specie of tiger as the variety observed before, however with a abnormal colour variation in the coat. If our theory regarding the origin of these tigers is correct, this would seem to suggest the same culture that introduced them to Cascadia was indeed present here on Celestia at one time. ----- I had hoped to do a stack more of these, and probably still will over time, but I have recently changed roles at work and have much less time than normal for building. During the week I don't even have access to real bricks (hence the LDD) For those who don't know, I'll be travelling the high seas IRL for approximately six months in a month or so, so after I leave all my builds will be LDD until I return.
  2. I agree, this is definitely an improvement and worth being proud of. I think the addition of the undercover area out the front and the jetty out the back really add to the MOC and are probably what makes it stand out compared to some of your others. That and the complete roof. Anyway good job and the effort you've put into progressing Arlinsport with these last two builds is most appreciated by the faction!
  3. The sheer size of the temple ruins are impressive and the vegetation blends in well. I especially like the odd pink leaf pieces you've added - I'll have to experiment with that myself some time. The orchid is simple yet effective. I like the 'flame' colours used. Hopefully your expedition escapes the danger around that corner and makes it out of the jungle alive!
  4. Stunning entry Mike. I especially like the contrast the light blue window lattice provides to the tan walls, and the use of the log pieces provides good texture. Great interior as well. Another welcome addition to Jameston - great job and it's great to see you building again!
  5. I can wait - I'll need to completely re-do the official island map at the end of the challenge to incorporate some of the entries anyway - and that will likely take some time.
  6. Another great entry and another great underwater scene from you. For some reason the simplicity of the olive green stalks with the green flower heads as underwater plants really appeals to me. Clever detail! Are you sure you mean 4 weeks east of Jameston? Can you point out on the map where you are? If so I'll add 'Reinhard' Ponds (or Jewel Ponds if you prefer) to the map.
  7. I was excited the other week to hear you were entering and you certainly haven't disappointed! I do love dark red buildings and this one is awesome. The detailing around the windows looks really good and I like the use of the flexi pipe to make the trellis work for the vines. I also really like how dense the flower boxes on the ground floor appear. Great job and I think this will be an extremely hard entry to beat! Will you license it as a large or small artisan? I kept loosing count on the perimeter studs but I think it is 70x38ish? Bigger than it first appears!
  8. A great write up as usual. Big thanks to Capt Wolf and the team!
  9. Another really great entry. The use of the brick seperaters in the flower is a really great idea - probably one of the best Lego flowers I've seen done. The name is really cool as well. I'll be sure to try and incorporate the miricale flower into some of my future Jameston builds.
  10. I was pretty impressed with the lumenesant spider - then I got to the bigger version... wow, such a great entry, well done! I like how the photography really captures the glow in the dark properties of the spider piece. Great story and letter to the RS as well. Great job! Also it appears we have the same laptop!
  11. Nice backstory for your charactors and so typically Mesabi! Good job!
  12. A nice intimate build Bodi - nice to see the mayor relaxing a little with a friend. As others have comment the trophies are a nice touch. Good job!
  13. A nice entry SilentWolf, Kai is right, the orange (MD Flesh?) looks great. I like the parade and the concept of all the cultures mixing in the celebration. Great job!
  14. A great entry Capt Wolf both interior and exterior (I really need to get some more of those reddish brown cross beams!) I like the story and concept and Governor Guilder is brilliant in his costume! A great entry.
  15. Great concept introducing another religion - I like the concept of the old Gods. The church itself is nice but the minifig posing out the front particularly appeals to me for some reason. The 'mood lighting' is very well done and I think makes the scene. All in all a very good entry - well done!
  16. Great entry to the mini challenge Lord B and a great addition to Mokolei lore - you should add a link to it in the Mokolei entry in Jameis Farstrider's Guide. I love the bustling and lively feel of the scene and the mixture of cultures works quite well (that dragon is fantastic!). Great job!
  17. Nice little ship and a great backstory LM71, she does indeed look very sleek. Welcome to BoBS and Corrington!
  18. Fantastic entry here Elos. I don't think I've seen the barn in the basement concept done here before, and it is a great idea. The stone work is beautifully textured and I absolutely love the bright light yellow upper level. How did you do the clear plates behind the windows? Are they just one stud behind - in the pictures it kind of looks like they are somehow inserted into the frame (which I'm pretty sure isn't possible... ) I like the design of the lamp on the exterior with the black horns, that's a great idea I will probably borrow at some stage. I like your expedition team, like with Lord Buckethead, the mysterious Doctor has especially picqued my interest! All the best on the expedition.
  19. Great entry BD, I especially like all the small details - like the clear plates for waves, sand green for the high water mark, grill for drainage, texture on the walls and dark brown planks mixed in with the reddish brown. A great addition to Jameston which the settlement will gladdly licence in her name with thanks. All the best to Hugo for his expedition - if they do need any assistance, the colonial governor will be more than happy to help.
  20. An awesome collection Garm a lot of good combos here to like, and the stories that come along with each are great as well. Nice to see another CMF collection make an appearance again, worth the wait! I didn't pick up on that - if it is the ninja scabbard that is a really cool idea!
  21. A very nice entry Lord Buckethead, and I think it fits nicely with Jameston's style - which is a mix anyway! But then the government buildings have tended to be more white so far, so I actually think this is perfect! It's a nice clean building and it contrasts well with the thick green vegetation. I got one of Major Walsh's torso a while ago and wondered if it would be any good for BoBS, so interesting to see it here. Also your collection of Bobby helmets is impressive as always, although one of those engineers looks suspiciously like Colonel Allcock in disguise! A good look expedition over all and maybe they'll cross paths out there with my own!
  22. Thanks Drunknok, somehow the location got missed out when I was editing the text... It did originally say it was on the outskirts of King's Harbour. Thanks Professor, here are some additional shots of the crane: Thanks Capt Wolf! lol, that's not even all my barrels and chests, those things just seem to keep adding up! The track is from my 4.5V childhood train set (7720) - hence the chipped condition of the track! Thanks Mesabi. I was sorely tempted to leave out the interior... but I kept thinking of you berating me, and it's a Royal project... *sigh* so I did it!
  23. I like the way the factory juts out of the cliff and overhangs the beach and water - also the factory itself has a nice clean look, which is different from your usual style. I like it. Seems slightly suspicious, where are the explosives hidden... @Bregir I will license this one and Mesabi's BoC build from yesterday in the name of Arlinsport. - Thanks Mesabi!
  24. Fantastic build Drunknok, and Jameston is very happy to have such a handsome looking inn! I like the mix of colours in the masonary bricks and the wavy roof, but the stand out feature for me is the windows and how you have used the inverted brown slopes and arches to create the frame. I will be remembering this technique! As for the interior - well it is remarkable. As someone who really dislikes making interiors, I am really appreciative of the extraordinary level of detail you've put in here. All in all a great entry, one of my favourites so far! In the first shot, to remove the pesky background, have you tried angling the build inside the lightbox, then taking the photo square on? (does that make sense?) That should then make it easier to remove the background in an editing program such as GIMP or photoshop. Just a suggestion.
  25. Nice entry Professor, like others have said that brick build chameleon is great! I also like how you've put the hat on your sigfig's head!
