[Esl - Era 2 - Ch1 - Cat A] The Colonist Inn, Jameston
Ayrlego replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great inn Faladrin, I'm glad you were able to make the deadline as this is definitely a great entry! It's so bright and the red looks great broken up with the white beams. The interior is just packed full of great details as well, it's so busy and lively - just like you'd expect in a good inn! Overall a fantastic entry and yet another great addition to Jameston! Are you playing the EGS these days? If so what will you license it as? If not would you consider donating it to the city? Either way I'd be happy to do the paperwork for you if you want.- 10 replies

Celestia’s Superb Orchid - Era II, Challenge I RESULTS POSTED
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just a friendly reminder to all: Can you please post your Category A entries in the Jameston Thread with what they are licensed as, it helps me a lot! I think I have managed to capture most of them, but there are a few missing or that I am unsure about. Thanks! A huge thank you to all who have built for this challenge, especially Category A. The settlement of Jameston has been enriched by the diversity of fantastic builds. I will be sure to attempt to return the favour during the upcoming challenges for each other faction. Cheers!- 121 replies

[COR EraII ChI CatA] Montoya House, Montoya Street, Jameston
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I knew from the WIP shots that the exterior was going to turn out grand, and it did, but the interior came as a real surprise. It is excellent. I love all the different rooms, especially the library. The staircase is also a feature that stands out. The carriage also looks to be a very clever design, any chance we could get a close-up? Each wing of the building with the courtyard in the middle and fountain make for a really grand building, especially with the arch at the entrance way - probably Jameston's grandest building yet! Fantastic entry Bregir, well done! -
[ESL CH1C]A long forgotten Temple
Ayrlego replied to Legostone's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As stated above this is really cleverly done! I actually saw the construction shot on flickr first, so I wasn't suprised by that, but when I did see the actual shot I was amazed by the temple itself. Really good job and a great entry! -
[ESL - CH1 - Cat A] MAESTRO Office Jameston
Ayrlego replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A nice build and a welcome addition to Jameston Maxim. I like the curves on the sides of the dark red walls, together with the arches and roof it really adds a lot of character. Will you license as an art and culture, or commercial? Either way, Jameston welcomes MAESTRO! -
Absolutely brilliant! The builds and the story! A gold orchid is a great take on the superb orchid - a very original idea and combined with the valley of real orchids is fantastic! (Hopefully your men get away from that flash of yellow in the background!) The golden orchid itself is very well done. I didn't notice the extent of the petals at first due to the angle of the photo, but the additional pictures took care of that. Altogether easily one of my favourite entries so far!

[Era II - Ch I - Cat. C] Meeting on the lake
Ayrlego replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wow, that's quite a large entry Professor! The lava is well done and I like how you have made the adjoining vegetation scorched. The giant insect is great, especially the wings! A great entry with lots of awesome details! lol- 6 replies

[CH 1B - ESL] Mountain Goats and Yellow Highland Frogs
Ayrlego replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great rock work Elos, it must have taken hours to construct! The vegetation integrates well into it and as always I am very jealous of the goats! (I nearly ordered two before Christmas but just couldn't do it in the end...) The frogs are also a nice addition. Great entry!- 6 replies

[ESL-ERA II-CH1-Cat A] WGO Lodge Number 9
Ayrlego replied to Sir Stig's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice house Sir Stig, I love the colour scheme and as mentioned that roof looks fantastic! The niche with the owl is a nice addition and the minifig combos, especially Miss Blumenskiold are great. Another great addition to Jameston! -
[Era II, Ch IC] - Rendezvous with the divine flower
Ayrlego replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I was looking at the rockwork thinking, that's some pretty good flowing water and rock work... then I got to the flower! Great job - we had a life sized flower themed challenge on Merlin's Beard not so long ago and I realised then how difficult it is to do, but you (and your wife!) have done a superb job here! -
[COR-GBftC] Artillery Sloop No. 1 and Gun Sloop No. 2
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I agree with Maxim, they are indeed very well made. I like the reversed masonry bricks as gunwales on the second boat. I think we should take you off leadership duties so you can spend all your BoBS time producing beautiful looking ships for us! -

[COR EraII ChI CatB] Exploring Celestia
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks BD, I did try the palm in real Lego - it just so happens I have a stack of dark tan pith helmets for a WW1 Turkish army MOC that I never got around to doing. I'll post a pic below They are indeed super delicate. I don't think I'd be able to get the same angles or trunk length IRL. The white tiger.... I debated for a long time about whether to use it or not as it is a Chinese clone. I'm by no means a purist but the ethics of using a clone brand I'm not sure about. In the end I decided I liked it too much not to use it. -

Well it's great to have you back! I can look after the paperwork for you if you like? -
@Bregir @Elostirion @Lord Buckethead and @SilentWolf are continuing the story. Thanks, Gideon, it's not mine though, It was first done by Mark here, and I tried it in real bricks here. Vegetation is a real pain in LDD, I didn't get anywhere near the density that I wanted! So many times I wished for real bricks!

Early last year, the then Captain Dirk Allcock financed a small cocoa plantation just outside King's Harbour. Since then, the chocolate industry has boomed and John Cadbury's plantation has expanded. Now, he has sent his daughter Elise to open a shop in the rapidly expanding settlement of Jameston. Elise supervised the construction of the shop herself, and Jameston's colourful style was perfect for her to paint the first floor of the building in the purple that is rapidly becoming a trademark of her father's company. Importing chocolates and cocoa powder from Cocovia, the shop opened just in time to capitalise on all the visitors flooding into town on expeditions to find Celestia's superb orchid. A medium commerce to raise Jameston to city status. It is actually on a 32x32 base however for some reason when it rendered it didn't render the base or detail??? I will redo when I get home next weekend, but as it took almost 6 hours to render on my laptop - I don't really want to try again only to get the same result! Edit: Updated with complete render

A very nice little inn Legoston, I envy all that beautiful dark brown on the upper level! The tan plates on the palm tree are also a great idea.

After pushing further into the mountains, Colonel Allcock's party begin to discover signs that there was once an advanced civilisation inhabiting this area. Stones are found that were clearly once shaped into bricks. After pushing on, they discover the ruins of a large city complex, which will take many weeks to explore. An excerpt from Dirk's journal: The ruins here are extensive, however, the jungle has in parts almost completely reclaimed them. It will take a long time to fully explore them and our expedition is ill-equipped to do so. I have made a map showing the location so that a larger team can do so in the future. As for orchids they are abundant, but I see none that really stand out. However, I fear the complex is so big, that the superb orchid could be just around the corner and we would miss it - another expedition could be exploring another part of these ruins and I believe we may never run into one another.

[Era II, Ch IC - OL] Finding the Superb Orchid, Celestia
Ayrlego replied to Gideon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
^ this! I loved your meso-American temple style in challenge V, and tried to mimic it with my jaguar tower. This however has got to be the ultimate expression of it. I think the water fall and pond are my favourite parts and the orchid itself is stunning. I think you have even managed to improve on Mark's dinosaur palms! As I said on Flickr, a true masterpiece.
