  1. Thank you for the comments everyone! Ahh, Dirk Allcock had a most vexing time writing that paper - he ended up with a stuffed skunk (taxidermy is also among his many interests!) that he affectionately calls Stéphan Hopefully one day he and Isaac Montoya can discuss the particulars! Thanks Garmadon, I totally agree, Originally I didn’t have the wooden reddish-brown bricks on the top, but light bley tiles instead, however my photography setup is… well not ideal! The problem was the light bley was blurring into the white background and paint shop couldn’t detimine what was lego and what was background. After much frustration and about 50 photos I replaced the tiles with the brown bricks, replaced the sides with the dark bley and added black plates to the bottom! Not a ideal solution, but it worked…. Now I just need better lighting!!! As for the table I couldn't work out how to make tiles look good with the rounded corners - I'll give it a try next time. Thanks again for the feedback!
  2. Thanks for the welcome everybody! So just to check my understanding of the rules, I can claim one as my starting challenge (25DBs) and one as a Freebuild (10DBs)? All I need to do is provide links on the freebuild page and submit a webform for each build?
  3. The eldest son of a wealthy Textile merchants, Dirk has not inherited his families love of trade. He leaves the running of the family business to his younger brother Callum. A passionate scholar, Dirk's vast academic interests include zoology, botany, cartography, classical history and anthropology. He keeps rooms in the capital, Bellson - of which he can most commonly be found in his study. Callers cannot be guaranteed he will be home however, Dirk spends a lot of time in the field, exploring, cataloguing or testing his latest hypothesis. He has authored numerous papers that are well regarded in the scientific community, including his most well known works "Freshwater Fish Species of Northern Corrington" and "Chemical Composition of the Secretions of the Common Oleander Skunk". Also a deeply patriotic man, some years ago Dirk Allcock purchased a Captaincy in Her Majesty's army. Currently he commands a company of light infantry in a regiment of foot. Together with the grenadier company, the light company is one of the elite companies in a regiment of foot and can be distinguished by their dark green epaulettes. Trained to skirmish ahead of the main battle line, light company soldiers are usually better marksmen who often fight independently or only under loose supervision. Captian Allcock now looks to take a journey of discovery to the new world, if he can serve the interests of the crown, all the better. --- Hi Everybody, I've finally joined Corrington. This is my first participation on any of the Eurobricks RPGs, although I'm involved in Lands of Roawia on Merlins Beard. The rules are alittle more complicated over here so please let me know if I need to change anything. These are my Intro builds, comments and criticism very welcome - my goal (probably like everyone else!) is to improve my building, so any suggestions are helpful! Full credit for the table with the hat on it in Dirk's study goes to vincentkiew

I've been trying to work out the rules for about a week now and hope that I have got it all right. I believe I also need to post this intro/starting challenge in its own thread - is that correct?
  5. K-mart Queanbeyan had a stack of new stuff today (15 Jan) including new Star Wars and more importantly Series 15 minifigures. They had two boxes of minifigures out, both had been picked through (I only found 1 farmer). Still plenty of varitey though, unless you want the Knight.... pretty sure I got all of them
  6. After months of following this thread I am finally posting my first army. I kept putting off posting 'for just one more bricklink order'!!! Anyway this is my Lenfel themed army from LoR over on Merlins Beard. Lenfel Rangers and Scouts by David, on Flickr Lenfel Knights and Regular Infantry by David, on Flickr Lenfel Knights by David, on Flickr Lenfel Melee Infantry by David, on Flickr Lenfel Pikemen by David, on Flickr I've been in love with dark green since I returned from lego after my dark ages (It wasn't a colour I had as a kid), so naturally I 'needed' to make a dark green themed castle army! I am also working on Red and Blue themed armies.
  7. Simply stunning. I love everything about this build - especially the manor itself. Makes me want to try something 'wooden'!
  8. Black Falcons will always be my favourite faction and, although I appreciated the nod Lego gave to them with the new style knight in the Kingdoms Joust set, I have never really been a huge fan of the new heraldry... until now... I do like this kit and would buy multiple copies, however like others have said it's probably to mini-figure heavy for an official set - which is silly because minifigures in this case are clearly what people want...... Supported.
  9. The amount of detail you have managed to create in such a small model is fantastic. The shape you have achieved is simply astonishing. Well done on such a great little model!
  10. Great build! I really like the Australia Post box - any chance of a close up? Keep up the good work. edit: Just found your post office thread with the bigger pics - I really like the post box!
  11. Great work, I've never been a fan of the short legs - but then I'd never seen movable ones before this post either. Very nice!
  12. Hi, although not familiar with the game, this is looks like it is going to be a great looking vessel. I'm especially impressed with the way you are building the stern - the use of the "wing" pieces and the way you have used hinges to build up over them is very, very cool. I also like the way you have posted step by step type photos - beginners like I can certainly learn alot this way - thank you.
  13. I agree, they do remind me of some of the old Castle boat sets - except better! Great work - after seeing these I think I'd like to try to build some a smaller 'castle' style boats (I'm currently building a 20-something gun frigate)
  14. Wow! This is a awe inspiring project - your hard work is certainly paying off! Good luck in the new year when you continue.
  15. Very nice, I love the dark green scheme on the building and the way you built the windows. The red bird on the roof is a nice touch as well! Are they robot/skeleton arms inbetween the house and palm tree?
  16. Hi, I am only new but I have a number of older lego sets (mainly castle) that are currently missing reviews - I'd be interested in joining the Reviewers Academy.
  17. Nice build. I like the way you've used slopes and curves for the stern - it makes for an impressive looking ship.
  18. Wow, this is a great build, definitely better than the official set. I especially like the way you did the beard - the two different greens look very striking together.
  19. Hi, Like Kwatchi and Swan Dutchman suggested I'd definately recomend checking out Captain Greenhair's excellent tutorial here http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=30622. I'm about half way through my build based on this tutorial and she is shaping up to look like a very nice ship. Cost wise it can definately be expensive though - depends on what you already have in your stash, and, if like me, you insist on using colours that you don't have much off. Good luck!
  20. Thanks WarSquirrel and Kmeder, it's nice to see so many Aussies on here!
  21. Hi, I'm David, an AFOL from Canberra, Australia. I've been a guest of this forum for a while now, and have finally signed up – mainly because I am about half way through my first real adult MOC, and want to express my thanks for the tutorials, ideas and inspiration that have come from here. My favourite themes have always been castle and pirates, but I also like town, space – anything Lego really! My first abortive attempts at MOCs were all castle, but I was never happy with my progress, especially compared with some of the masters on these forums. Then I discovered the make a frigate tutorial in the pirates forum and was hooked!
