  1. In Czech Republic where I live, the RRP is 8999 CZK. That is to the date exactly: 516.54 AUD ...and... 370.854 USD Now if you take into account that there is a tax included in Czech price (we pay 21%) and I'm guessing that also in the Australian price (around10%?). With the customer friendly 'Sales tax' in the U.S., which you can easily avoid, that pretty much explain the price advantage. So It's not really TLG to blame. I think that what they actually get from sold product usually vareies just a little and it seems they involve the changing exchange rates quite dynamically. It is the tax system what makes the differences.
  2. Everything on this model is absolutely spectacular but what I like and admire the most is your hull plating. This is the first time I see someone attempting for recreating this shallow round 'dish' shape on both sides of a ship. It must have been so challenging to add these extra angles in and you executed it greatly! Wonderful job.
  3. Very nice B-wing-ish type of fighter! That color scheme is becoming your trademark Bob :D I love the way it lands. It looks 100% genuine. If something, I could possibly imagine the wings to be a bit longer to compensate for the massive engines :D But it looks alright as it is.
  4. Hi, I wonder the same. Given how great this looks, it's weird that not many re-creation have emerged. Maybe it's to intimidating to builders? For me e.g. this has just to many pieces and thus I can't possibly afford buying all the parts. I wish there was a smaller, yet UCS styled MOC because AT-TE is simply wonderful wehicle. Anyway, Xyrate, I wouldn't be afraid about the building experience. Anio's models are designed with great respect to the building process. I bet the assembly of this would be a joy :)
  5. How did I miss this earlier... Incredible job. Thank's a ton for the file, I guess I won't resist building this lovely piece. This is probably my favourite starfighter from the whole universe any you nailed it.
  6. Absolutely the best rendition of this in minifig scale I have ever seen! Wonderful. I always loved this starfighter design but none of the official sets or MOCs provided satisfactory look to me. This totally does! :D I feel very tempted to build this. EDIT: I just saw the khatmorg's work and I have to include kudos to him :)
  7. You tell me :D But no, actually I only ment that it would be interesting to even see whether such mechanism can be constructed. I think it can't be really practical for a lego technic car. Yep, very likely. Not sure whether you are right here - depends on whether your system only engages when you steer at maximum angle. If so, then it's non conflict. But if the system engages earlier (which I think it might), then you have some (although maybe quite small) range of steering angles for which the back wheels turn in the same fixed ratio and that is conflict. because the turning changes within this range. Either way, this is just about being rigorous in theory. In praxis, your system proves to work and even if there is some slack it's still great piece of mechanics :)
  8. ^ Agreed :) I'm not sure if the head changes haven't damaged the intimidating look for me... maybe they have.
  9. ^The clutch gear is rather asking for troublesome performance. It doesn't have friction low enough to allow for smooth speed rate change unless you use some ultra grippy wheels or something. Anyway, I'd look at this as on some auxilary systems you engage if the surface is slipery :) All in all, if the grip is good, rear wheel drive with diff is usually good enough. I think that any sophisticated mechanism that would precisely set the speed ratio according to the turning radius would only add pointless bulk to the cmall car :) ... but it would be really interesting if someone constructed purely mechanical way of doing this. I can't think of any at the moment. The problem is that steering radius is continuous while any classical type of gearbox only provides discrete number of ratios. Maybe some continual gearbox then but yet again, that's difficult to do with lego on its own.
  10. I like it. Maybe it should be more hollow inside - what do you think about using smaller dish (6x6) which is shifted more towards the 'inside' of the thruster?
  11. ^Thanks Azriel! I like the brickbuilt thrusters much more than death star domes, although it is still on the bigger side. Most refference pics and blueprints to ISD suggest smaller thrusters. I think that TLG choice of big plastic wheels is pretty much ideal in terms of scaling - perhaps scaling down the brickbuilt version a litlle bit could work out?
  12. Not the biggest fan of this particular shuttle (can't get along with these flappy wings - they look weird) but this is very nice model indeed.
  13. Can you direct me to his version please? I think I havent seen it.
  14. 1) I achieved membership quite recently after many years of being lego customer while only purchasing from retailers, not S&H. One day though I decided to make an account 'just in case I ever need it'. Finally I first actually used it when I wanted to use the christmas offer last year - while there's no official Lego shop in my country, I ordered from S&H. (I actually made another order before but that was from Bricks & Pieces which doesn't accept or grant any VIP points whatsoever) 2) I don't really know but I'm guessing that I'm not a representative individual of mature AFOL. I am mature and I am AFOL ( ) but I can rarely afford buying sets from official e-shop (again, no store within my reach) because LEGO is generally quite expensive in where I live (given the average income we have) so unless there was a decent discount on some set I really desired for, I can barely make use of the VIP points or the other benefits like early access to some exclusive sets. I'm not sure what other benefits are VIP only, most giveaways seem to be for any qualifying order regardless buyer' status. So all in all, I don't benefit from the program but that's mostly my fault I guess :) I understand that without spending money, no big rewards shall be expected. 3) Nowise... should it? Or I didn't understand the question perhaps? 4) Hmm, maybe some access to the exclusive content e.g. designer interviews, behind the scenes stuff regarding set development. But then again, I don't see much of a reason for making such things VIP only. 5) I wish that everyone who enter the Store or call the service gets the best possible care so once again, I wouldn't expect any special care for VIP members. I see no point in making any non-shopping advantages since becomming VIP is just the matter of creating an account and getting validated. If VIP had someting to do with e.g. recognition as a 'experienced lego builder' or something that people would have to prove some skills for, that would be quite different and in such case, I could possibly imagine some special treatment.
  15. Nice progress. Plan D engines are way to big though. These fit Raskolnikov' Tyrant but that one is 1.5 times as big as this UCS in every direction. What are the plans B and C though? I only can see one engine pic within your previous post where it's just 6x6 dishes
  16. Both sets are quire well executed in my opinion. I have the newer one and it seems very accurate to me, compared with most pictures I have seen. As mentioned above, the set from 2007 is significantly smaller which makes your mixture highly out of proportion. It also seems that your tail wing can't effectively move neither opwards, nor down-forwards. I regret having negative feedback again but similarly as with your snowspeeder, I see everything but improvement here. May I ask about your motivation for doing these 'set modifications'? It feels to me that you are picking quite well done sets (lacklusters? these??) and pointlessly try to modify them in LDD, ultimately calling your rather questionable result as an improvement... Please take no offense (although my stand is very critical here so I couldn't blame you), I just don't really understand your efforts here :)
  17. Excellent model. I really like how it performs!
  18. Hi, well, I agree with emco47. I don't understand all the throughout presentation (almost a study) of this as a 'new way of creating snowspeeders' since the model itself really isn't that groundbreaking. TLG version may not be 100% perfect, true, yet this looks worse in every aspect (less accurate shape - these curved slopes and weird nose look particularly out of place, less details, no gunner seat - astromech head instead...) And regarding this: I think that with no play features, it's a bit unsupported claim:) Rigid and legal connection are cool and I like MOCs that try to incorporate Lego set standards but here it clearly goes at the expense of overal design quality. Eventhough all negative, I hope you won't be offended by this criticism. Being the same kind of forumer as emco47, I also like and admire some of your technic stuff and I bet you can do much better than this with SW models :)
  19. Tremendous work. This set wasn't very appealing to me but with your modifications it looks brilliant!
  20. #36 - 4 points #33 - 1 point BrickCreature is the most original idea and probably also the best executed and presented models, yet in my opinion it doesn't make for particularly great series of sets.
  21. ^ That sounds legit. Anyway, speaking of that particular part, it was last used in 2014 which is not so long ago to conceive any suspicion of retirement i think :) But on the whole it's quite seldom seen lately. It was certainly more utilized back in 90's.
  22. Very nice. I like the concept of fixed structure (I don't see any sor of movement to 'aim' as a unexpandable feature). Though I wish that the suuroundings was done a bit more 'naturally', I don't like the sides and the exposed wedge. Of course it's mainly just the matter of adding some bulk of shote bricks (which everyone could do himself) but as a standalone set it could already have that inlcuded :) The control room is also very nice, much better than having some kind of cockpit thing in the sphere :)
  23. ^ Aha alright, I found the quote already. Well it really looks like it means just cars in that context.
