A Motorized Camera Dolly
TheItalianBrick replied to Andy D's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sorry but: why don't you create a stabilizer also? There is so much shaking in your GoPro video!! A stabilizer would be very simple and compact to add....,... -
True, but I think sometimes we pretend too much from Lego and we missunderstand the meaning of Lego. When you mention 2-4 buggy motors you probably better looking at RC model made out of metal. After all Lego it's not about performances ( high speed cars). Often I see people trying to make cranes able to lift lots of kilograms using iron parts as counterweight, why not simply design it to display their own beauty?! Anyway we do share opinions and we do have different tastes!

DK3 i know it's been a while, but one thing is to design a specific pin or another small part, one thing is to design a whole boom with sections! It won't look like a Lego thing. Effernam made those really nice leaf springs, I do made the same using only Lego parts and they work perfectly having also a differential for 8X8 trucks! About my crane, it doesn't convince you simply because I showed so little! Unfortunately I was waiting for new parts to complete them, but the early prototypes work week well and trust me are impressive! When finished I'll show you and hopefully I'll convince you and impress you too! Anyway I'm a purist so of course I tend not to like custom parts! But it's my opinion...just this!

I don't want to be controversial but let me say; where will end up if we start to design custom parts? It won't be anymore a LEGO thing, but simply a 3D printed toy! Custom parts eliminate the fun and the challenge of designing and bulding a LEGO MOC, there are plenty of ways to design a 3/4 sections boom.

@ Milan: they work very well actually and they sit on a 8X8 chassis with leafs springs! But as I've shown them already (even if a little of) they won't be "never seen before"! @ Jim: thanks Jim, this time I won't disappoint you asi didn't make the TC7, Sariel got me a it upset that time and also disappointed with that request of closing my post down! I have an Idea for a special tower crane! But let's talk about it when I post some pics!

[MOC] Coyote 4x4x4
TheItalianBrick replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Zblj, we missed you in this forum! Great stuff as usual! One day you should swap those XL motors with some RC ones!!!! -
I've contacted this seller but he/she insists his/her friend made the instructions! It's a very rude person and only speaks german! I've reported him\her but regardless he\her keeps selling those free instructions for 69,99 euros!!! Can someone also report/contact this seller and stop him from what he/she is doing?

Effe's MOC Corner
TheItalianBrick replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's just the chassis, so first I'll have to complete the all truck and thell I'll show it! But you are going to sell those parts so I'm sure there is someone interested on making an 8X8! About the pics I need to finish the truck first! I'm not fitting them under the Arocs, I'm designing a new MAN 8X8! -
Effe's MOC Corner
TheItalianBrick replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sorry Efferman but since you are designing a new part why don't you allow the use of a differential? Anyway I've made a 8X8 chassis with leaf springs and they work very well! No need to design a 3D printed part! Also I have ackerman on the axle! What else do you need LOL -
Advice on MOC
TheItalianBrick replied to Geekerd's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Of course you can add motors! Don't forget bytheway the secret to lift (to generate torque) it's to use reductions and pulleys! I tend to use L motors because of their fixing point can be used as a structure themself! Also good torque and when necessary also speed! The picture you posted refers to a HUGE HUGE crane! Sounds a bit hard for a first MOC to achieve as result  purely because at that size lots of issues are involved! (Structures, weight etc) But hey, nothing it's impossible! -
Advice on MOC
TheItalianBrick replied to Geekerd's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Welcome on EB Davide! Sounds like you want to build a crawler crane then? Or a wheeled crane? When it comes to a MOC best advice it's not to use "instructions" otherwise it will end up being a MOD and not a MOC. Some general tips: - Use references from real machineries, so use photos, blueprints and work out proportions/scale! - Get inspirations from other builders, official sets etc. - don't be afraid of mistakes! LEGO it's about to build, test, disassemble, re-think, re-build and so on! Tips about the 42042: - For a "bigger" crane what you can do is to wide the tracks maybe, then move the counter weight farer from the rotating point of the crane, (turntable) - Extend the boom adding sections, - maybe add a third raising arm/boom, like in the 8288 set! [WIP] Mining Dumper
TheItalianBrick replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looking really cool! Maybe it's too fast in moving, and too slow in steering! But regardless it's really nice!!! Jorge don't forget to put the LA aswell before there won't be any space left!- 102 replies

I think we tend to mythify those "famouse" ones and pretend they are the only ones! I have 25 years of experience in building Trucks and stuff but never shared anything online as I didn't use internet too much! When you name it "Sariel's gerabox" or "D3K steering" and so on....have you ever thought that there are other people in this world that had the same idea, althought they are not on EB neither have a youtube channel with 100000 views?? Personally, I don't think we should ask (I mean one can copy someone else stuff for his own use at home, without posting here and there). But if you do post it, then to mention it would be really nice! Also you can "copy" a stering linkage, that doesn't mean you are done with your vehicle.....it's only a small part of it....
