Sounds like a good idea to have a cubic studs limit!! And I don't mind the A and B model concep!! Go on Jim!! -
Mini(ng) Excavator
TheItalianBrick replied to GoldVillage's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is simply a wonderful cute one!!!!! I think at such a scale probably makes sense to have only one lever that moves at the same time the boom sections and bucket...a bit like those toys for kids! But anyway this is a lovely moc!! Well done! -
yes the 62.4 tires are the cheapest way..and they will look good anyway! We have to understand TLG won't make anymore the old 68.8 unfortunately :cry_sad:

One more week before my 8X8 MAN TGS full leaf springs, auto valve compressor, 5 functions, V6 engine it's completed and you'll be amazed! But hey, I love challenges and pushing to the limit! Also your truck it's out of scale… But again I think you should make a nice low bed for it..maybe something crazy with 6 axles! That would be really nice!!
-
What about the tires? the are very expensive isn't it? But definitely looking cool…I love this set!!!

Well i mean in real life this could happen! Let's say you load a Caterpillar D8 which weights 36 TONS more or less…..you need a low bed! Also at that scale there is much more you can do…easily….including suspensions, all wheel drive, more details….. But anyway your moc looks clean and I appreciate it! Positive feelings!

Hi, nice moc but...I don't see any of the things you mentioned as a real problem! Neither I see your solution as a real solution. Let me explain: small wheels are used simply because sometimes you need more load height, ramps don't effect fuel efficiency that much simply because air resistance works over certan speeds....a truck is in general quite slow! Your "solution" has a big issue when loading an heavy machinery....the pivot poit is so far from the actual carried weight that all the chassis will simply bend...or the truck will be lifted by the trailer! In my opinion I would have spent more time to make the DAF truck more nicer and realistic istead.....

Really nice and well done model!! Not too keen on the front…but I love the side and the rear!! Please we need a video now!!! P.S. such a car deserves 2 RC motors!!!!! Congrats Brunojj1, ..you simply are the best when it comes to cars!!!

Axle Collection Thread
TheItalianBrick replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well I mean not keeping the same architecture of course…..I thought that was obvious tho! actually he can flip the 3X5 lift arms aswell and use a 7L rack plus something else to reach 9 studs length -
Super effeee!! Looking great! I do like the use of studded parts!!!

Axle Collection Thread
TheItalianBrick replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice but you have a big problem…the steering point it's way to far from the wheel. You can reduce it by a stud if flip the wheels…. Also, using hubs you can reduce it by 2 studs….. P.S. cool renders! What software are you using?? -
It makes me smile purely because I really don't mean anything bad…as I've always said Milan has all the skills to do great things….but this one simply does't do for me! At the beginning I was excited….but when I saw the wheels it all faded away! I don't want to sound negative…actually it could be a way to stimulate people, think if everybody would say "oh it's perfect" then nobody would improve or challenge themselves anymore! Anyway, I strongly believe the cabin should show the interior. P.S. i know Milan like that sort of scale, but I still would use Unimog wheels and then scale everything to them. We always complain TLG doesn't make some parts we all want…and then we we have them we don't use them! :p Anyway Milan knows how much I respect him!
-
LOL As I sadi it's just my opinion...Milan is free to do whatever he wants of course! this is simply something I really don't like.....but I'm not saying he is not allowed to do it. And I do reconise Milan's skills of course...but this time the result doesn;t appeal me. Anyway I did suggest to revome the glasses and show more interiors....this is indeed helpfull and it's anyway a suggestion! So I'm not sure what are you on about...
-
It simply doesn't do for me....why would you need those glasses aswell? Looks very clumsy Milan..sorry. Basically I can't place your models....they are not studless, neither Model Team style....it's just about filling up as much as you can.....moving away from what LEGO is about probably....when I look at your wheels and at your cabin they simply don;t remind m of a Lego model. Anyway, about the cabin, I simply would remove those glasses bricks and show the interioris....would make more sense. My 2 cents...
-
Sorry but that's definitely not the main point!!! It's not about how cool the thing looks like...it's about how differently it works! When offsetting a wheel we generate positive, negative or zero scrub radius. With zero scrub radius there is very little or almost no kickback from bumps, a positive/negative scrub radius will create more kickback from bumbs at sensible degrees. The good thing is that it provides more road feelings....that's why it's used by race cars. It also effect the turning radius as change due to the toe angle. Anyway it's a good thing to go deeper into the topic by looking at videos and explanations. It's such a complex and huge topic!!

[TC8] Folding Crane
TheItalianBrick replied to Erik Leppen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Big battle between this and effe's one!! Really cute so far…clever steering system indeed! Maybe a simple worm gear on top of the main boom to fold the last piece of boom. Otherwise you need to lose the extending section of the main boom and use a lever to unfold the all crane in one step! Looking forward to the final model Erik! -
Well can I be honest with you? a 12 axle crane it's something that could end up being a 5000-10.000 pieces...depends on how well is designed. Sounds like you don't have all these parts or not willing to buy some.....if this is the case then the result will be the same as may other fail attempts: poorly designed cranes, unstable, understuctured and with a color scheme similar to a parrot! Anyway, regarding the steering...don't underevaluate the problem....creating a switchable steering system it's a very very very complicated thing.....on a 12 axle crane even more complicated!
