  1. I have been using Bricksmith on my mac for a while, and like the user interface, is it possible to add sub models in the program, like mlcad, as I know it can open up mpd files fine. I know that models can be inserted as a reference, but I don't know about a sub model. As I don't like having to reboot my computer to windows every time I want to work on a model with sub models for instructions.
  2. There's also a Blender plugin, you could import the ldraw model to Blender, and export it in the file type you want. https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Import-Export/LDRAW_Importer
  3. Great job, with a really compact model. I like how you reversed the footage and compiled it with your profile icon.
  4. I agree, it seems like a lot of the newer posts are a bit irrelevant, I think we have pushed the limits of the information received from the short video, and modeled a mockup of most of the bodywork.Though most of the model seems to be sorted out, there has to be several pages about speculation on new PF parts and possible color schemes. It seems so far that the new PF parts/implication of PF are not present in the model. I wish this thread would still retain to posting information that is relevant to what can be proven by outside sources and information on the actual set. Not just a wish list of I want the car to be xyz color, I think this was relevant a couple pages ago, but I don't think it helps to add more information that makes it difficut for others to find meaningful information in a thousand different posts. So I suggest if people are going to post more information here, try and make it add to the already known information and make new additions, rather than the not so benifical speculations without any new content or sources to back it up. Maybe for future sets, or with this current one there could be a separate topic, then moderators/contributors could concise important information about the model, so people wouldn't have to dig through lots of replys to find actual progress. Maybe in the future have a discussion/speculation topic, and a topic for reverse-engineered components, and information on the set.
  5. I think for the IS-7, I will use a combination of flexible axles, and technic bricks to create the semi-round structure of the front and rear of the turret. Cool, you're lucky to have the chance to drive one. I think I may decide to convert that model into the AVLB variant too, I love the complexity of the Allie's bridgelayers. I attempted to build one a long time ago, when I built a churchill, but I didn't have enough power from the m motors to actuate the arm for the bridgelayer, because of the weight of the bridge. Now I have 4 XL motors and 2 L motors, those shoud be sufficient to work with a custom brick built master actuator for the arm.
  6. I'm not sure yet with the People eater's limo, I know I could build the 6x6 and the limo, but I lack the wheels for the trailers, I think I may use a single 56x26 balloon tires to replace the doubled tires on the actual trailers, and make the trailers all wheel drive too.
  7. I can maybe model some of the parts in a digital program, so I can fix the issues it currently has.
  8. Yeah, I list all of my curret projects on my blog, I plan to build all of them up to the Churchill AVRE SLB for summer. http://tommystyrvoky...ure-models.html
  9. I have always wanted to build a 8x8 or 6x6, I recently acquired 10 62.4x20 tires, so now I can get to building a multi-axle vehicle. I also purchased a Sbrick, this will allow me to control my models at a greater distance outside. So I wanted my first model with a Sbrick to be special. The M8 Greyhound is a light armored car, that is mainly for scouting roles and mounts a 37 mm gun for supporting fire. When designing the drivetrain, I wanted a functional suspension system, and differentials. I attempted to replicate the real setup with staggered differentials, but this failed as there wasn't enough space, so I was forced to use a similar axle setup of the Arocs, as this is rather compact, but because of the height of lego springs, this made it very difficult to mound more than one L motor. I initially wanted this to be powered by two L motors, with a 1:1 ratio between the driveshaft and the differentials. Because of the height of the suspension, the roof of the engine deck will be very close to the top of where the shock absorbers are mounted. This has created a very interesting challenge, The low profile of the vehicle severely limits the area where I can mount power function elements. My progress over my short easter break is shown in the images below, I won't be able to continue progress on this model until the end of April, as that is when college is finished. 10. I like the yellow variant, it reminds me of the civillian warthog from Halo.
  11. I think they would work well to replace the Hailfire wheels for a turntable, or maybe I could see a use of them for a large tank turret ring.
  12. Here's a modified version, it uses a towball to eliminate strain on the suspension, though when it travels upwards, the camber angle will change, because of the distance between the upper link to stabilize the suspension. Ldd file here http://www.bricksafe... suspension.lxf I think it needs a second link below the axle to prevent flex of the axle. 13. I think there is a way to fo this with towballs, I may make something in ldd to test it.
  14. One of my Youtube subscribers created a ldd model of the TOG II. I converted it and fixed a few errors for ldraw format, so proper PDF instructions have been made for this vehicle in tan. 15. I think using these tires would be more accurate for the rear of the vehicle, as they are too thick for the current scale. http://alpha.brickli...?P=56904c01#T=C And for transporting vehicles, I think a tank would be too heavy, the maximum load is 16500 kg, a light AFV, IFV or APC would work though. Here's a couple options for the payload. A Fennek, that's a Dutch light vehicle. Or if you still want something with tracks it could be a UN vehicle. A FV107 Scimitar is a modern AFV used by the British and could fit on the vehicle or a FV101 Scorpion. Or a M113
  16. Looks functional, I suggest making a full enclosure for the camera, as It will support it better and limit motion of it. Teaser by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego motorize camera rail slider by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  17. could several EV3's be used, and have the sounds be played from those, say a ball hits a touch sensor.
  18. well I guess I need to get a coupe more L-motors, I didn't think this performance was possible with L motors, only buggy motors. I think there could be even better performance if AA battery box is used with 2300mA rechargeable batteries, or 1500mA if you don't want to damage your motors.
  19. i think i will just get these lights. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FG5EVRW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3MVLHDJXF93YP&coliid=I3J1B0G0N80EM4
  20. I have a couple questions, I have plans to buy a backdrop and some small photography lights. I think the usage of Led lighting would be better than standard tungsten lights, and reduce grain and noise in my video by addition of more pure light. I am between buying a Muslin and vinyl backdrop, though after reading the reviews of the vinyl I am skeptical, as I could by two muslin backdrops for the price of one vinyl one. Here's the products I am looking at. Do you think the lights would be powerful enough, as I don't want to have massive diffusers due to the small space I have in my room. And for backdrop, I think I will get a muslin black and white backdrops. 21. I created a longer post on my blog that better describes the process of creating this model. http://tommystyrvoky.blogspot.com/2016/02/mad-max-fury-road-elvis.html#more
  22. A Couple more edited photos, I also watched the movie again, and got some more inspiration to build a couple more vehicles in the near future. Lego Mad Max Fury Road ELVIS (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego Mad Max Fury Road ELVIS (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Here's a couple ideas.
  23. I noticed these differences between AA battery boxes when I got a second one for my Abrams. I also noticed with the older one the contacts loosened up, so I had to put pieces of plastic to retain the contacts, as the plastic knobs that retained the contacts had sheared off.
  24. yeah, the body isn't too impressive, I wanted to have functioning doors and improve the window pillars. I do like the SNOT work on the front cowl/firewall.I am pleased with how the chassis turned out though.
