  1. Where is the LDD file that has been mentioned? As I want to take a look at the paddle shifting/ front suspension, and see if there is a way to compact, make more accurate version for the model.
  2. I remember watching those videos too, though I sort of doubted what the results were of some of the phones were when the blender was finished... recommend the video to Lego as how disappointed the community is with what they hyped it to be, the term "ultimate" is too misleading. I guess someone took it to heart that this set was a major waste of their money, and were let down by the lack of functionality, as they probably got a 8880 as a kid and expected something on par or better.
  3. Well you can say the same about tech channels that torture or destroy thousands of dollars of phones at a time.. sometimes it's entertaining.. but that's if it's only using really high speed cameras, like I remember a channel that dropped the UCS SSD and filmed it on a rig that was rotating at a high speed, or some of the stuff that Fullmag releases... though it's usually the shock and awe of using some badass or massive gun on a target filmed at high speed. Though I guess nearly anything filmed at high speed is fun to watch. Though the title of this video is misleading, I'm not sure if it's worth it to report the video, as it isn't too misleading, but it's missing the And destruction part at the end. I guess someone else can go waste their money and time building stuff to destroy it.... well if this set is a limited release, there's one less out there, so your recently acquired investment just went up in worth.
  4. A couple thoughts, maybe buy the model and resell it on ebay for some scrub to buy at a high price, as it is out of stock. Or take all of the new orange pieces and new parts and keep them. Then sell the rest of the parts on bricklink and build your own Porsche.
  5. Does the shifting mechanism rely on the driving rings to lock into place? As when I was reverse-engineering it, it has no mechanism to prevent it from moving out of position and misaligning the driving rings.
  6. Lego M8 Greyhound 6x6 Armored car (SBrick) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr This model was a rather interesting challenge to build, as the independent suspension took up a majority of the internal space. It features all-wheel drive with differentials, traversing turret, and gun elevation. mounting the m motors for the turret was the most challenging part of this build, as they are placed in-between the first and second axle. This is also my first model to use an Sbrick to control it. 7. interesting method of using the shooting the axles, I have something planned for V-E day too, but I have to finish editing it. also you can embed your video by using by using media (link) /media with brackets around the media.
  8. It isn't too difficult, but it depends a lot on the size, smaller models will be more difficult because of space constraints, and large models will suffer from problems with lego parts breaking and flexing under weight. The key is to determine what size you want it to be. For the motors I would suggest using either L or XL motors to power it. It depends on the track size too, if you want to use 3 stud wide or 5 stud wide tracks. That will determine the motors to use/ road wheels/ suspension.
  9. If you want, you could send the files of the parts, and where you want them connected, and I can see about making a lightweight and sturdy technic frame.
  10. The 12z gear is at an angle though, I don't know how well that would work, but if it was lowered and placed at 90° and braced, it would work.
  11. I need to get the shock absorbers, hubs and wheels, otherwise I have plenty of light blueish gray for a studded body.
  12. I did an overlay of the current render of the paddle shifter on the renders by lego. padleshift overlay by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr and a couple renders of it. render1 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr render2 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I think the paddle shifter mechanism could easily be replaced with a smaller shifting drum, I think it's just redundancy by lego to make it robust enough with the current parts.
  13. if you look at the knob gears and shifting linkages, it looks like someone didn't set them up at the proper angle. Thought the geometry for the doors looks interesting with the sliding portion in the liftarm.
  14. I'm tempted to get some of those tires, as I have wanted to build a version of Bigfoot from the movie Mad Max Fury Road.
  15. done. Here's a size comparison with 8880, 8448, and 8070. I did my best to fix the perspective projection on the box with Gimp. I'm not sure if this is 100% correct, but I scaled them by the pin holes. Lego Supercars by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr

  17. maybe It could be in lava orange, that could be reasoning why the price is so high, lego has to go through the process of making new color for the parts. If someone wants to replicate the color of the actual car, I think you could airbrush authentic color pant onto all of the panels.
  18. it's a very eco-friendly Porsche, it runs on a very small scale LPE.... Who want's PF when you can run on air... no need for batteries. The fuel tank would be on the front passenger side of the car. It would be cool to see a version of this with added brake lines and fuel lines.
  19. I reduced some of the noise and messed with the lighting and saturation. 911 Chassis WIP by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  20. I went through the page source and found the original image without the text. also look up in the right corner, another prototype, or another car? Also there are differences in the steering setup, I will try and enhance the photo to reveal more of the chassis.
  21. I think it's impressive how much of the model that was designed based on less than 10 photos of the model. It's ironic, as there are still people that think there is PF in the model on Facebook.... and the whole chassis is visible.
  22. I got some more stills of the paddle shifting mechanism I need to rework my model, as I attempted to animate a small portion, and there was collision errors with the changeover catches, it seems that the knob gears are moved back one stud and are at a 45° angle, this creates the issusion of them being placed one stud forwards lego porsche 911 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr the progress on the animation, I think I got most of it correct, but when the knob gear on the paddle linkage travels beyond 90° it clips through the other knob gear. Animation here
  23. Thanks, I wish someone could test this in real life, as I would rather not spend lots of time on something that conceptually seems to work, but doesn't in real life, I have to think about this one for a little bit and make sure that those changeover catches are functioning correctly.
  24. I will see about working on it later this week, I have finals, then 4 months of summer for mocing.
