What I also like from this contest is how much fun you can have designing and building Mini models and cramming some cool stuff into them. MOCs usually tend to be big things (just look at most MOCs in this forum), but making something on this scale can be a blast. And that is something that all the entries clearly show. For myself it's a scale I want to play around with some more for the next few MOCs

Been on the fence a few days, but also decided to back this. It has great potential and Sariel made that potential very clear in his video too- 771 replies

[MINI] Deep Sea Expedition Ship
Appie replied to Gabor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool model and with a cute little submarine no less. I am glad somebody made a boat for this contest, because I felt we were missing one in the line up of entries Great job! -
Great model! Love the use of ropes and the video shows what the model can do very well. Since it was late for you, I counted the parts on your image, it is 200 if the turntable counts as 1. If the turntable causes issues with the contest rules you could remove one of the 2x4 tiles? Easiest fix I reckon and it hardly affects the looks.

[MINI] 8852 Robot

Very cool steering solution, I like the Mini even more now that it has that function from his big brother too and in the same style no less -
Dump Truck question
Appie replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Well I wouldn't call it "illegal", but it also isn't very sturdy. It's fine on things that are only on a model for looks imo, but this is attached to the bucket, it might let go. Maybe try to work with another part to off-set the required half stud? Technic cams come to mind. Would need to make room with the 2x4 liftarms that are connected to the chassis, but you can work something out probably. -
Model Team Definition
Appie replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My take on Model Team was back in the days (and still is): very detailed models with steering and/or other minor use of technic parts, but being mostly build from normal Lego bricks. While some models of the Creator series are pretty nice, they don't quite reach the level of detail of the old Model Team nor the scale of some old Model Team sets. The Volkswagen T1 and the new Mini Cooper definitely reach and go beyond the level of detail of old Model Team sets, but lack the basic function of steering (out of the box anyway ) that old Model Team cars had. -
I'd like to thank you very your very detailed pictures. Few weeks ago I already ordered an extra pump for the bed, but never got around to installing it and I wasn't even sure how I would install it, but you provided a very good way for me to do so. Love your other mods like the switch, double pump and functional steering wheel too, might use those too Of course also a big thanks to those people whose MODs made or helped some of yours.

1. Truck with Trailer and Wheel Loader Entry name: Truck with trailer and wheel loader Part count: 200 Short summary of the functions: The truck has HoG steering, functional rear suspension and a fifth wheel that can lock the trailer into place. The wheel loader has articulated steering though the gear on top, can lift the bucket through the gear at the back and can tilt the bucket with the hinge. The trailer can lower its ramp, has a functional stand which also doubles as a locking mechanism to lock the wheel loader in place during transport. [MINI] Service Truck
Appie replied to CharlieBravo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool truck, takes me back to the 90's I like the use of 40T gears, that gear wasn't used enough by Lego imo. If I could give 1 suggestion it would be to vertically reinforce your model with technic bricks and pins, like Lego would do. -
Thanks everybody, I like how cute it came out too Goldvillage, I have seen that problem with 3 wormgears, I solved that by giving it less room to move between the liftarms it was locked into (but still 1-2MM of space around the liftarms to keep it running smooth). Problem didn't occur at all with 2 wormgears.

Thank you all very much for the compliments I was thinking the same thing half way during making this entry and even thought about making a forklift instead of a wheel loader, but I liked the idea of a wheel loader more. Though since you mentioned it, it has been in the back of my head to make one anyway, just for fun. I finally had some time today to mess around with it. First I wanted to try to make it out of the parts from the wheel loader, but even though I tried I knew it would end up looking silly due to the size of the tires. So I made this with parts not from the wheel loader (nor was the rest of the entry harmed in the making of this forklift ) It can steer and move the fork up and down thanks to 2 wormgears. It has 68 parts. I don't have any intention for this forklift to replace the wheel loader though, just made it for fun and as a little (pun not intended ) tribute to the 8872 which I remembering building from catalog images back in the day Trailer is a little bit too big for it, but the locking mechanism also works for this forklift Picture of the whole "family" I still have plans for a "B-Model", had a few ideas, even tried to work one out, but it wasn't to my satisfaction, so I scrapped that. I had a new idea this past week which hopefully works out with the parts I have available to me.

[MOC] Corvette C3 Stingray
Appie replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great job capturing the lines of the car. Like the mechanism for the front lights and the nice touch with the targa top, looks very good. -
I was already looking into a red or black version yesterday, seems doable, but I have to agree I do like the colour scheme on the "basic" version more than the deluxe version (not that it doesn't look good too). I might make red the main colour and make the red parts of the basic version white, for that dutch patriot feel Late edit: Seems the soft axle used on top is missing from the parts list? Looks to be a 12L soft axle based on the video, which are pretty available thanks to the 42025. Or is was that altered out at a later stage? Seems to be gone from the basic version too by the looks of the video.

Great looking model! (insert clapping smiley here) This just boggles my mind. I love it! I must know how this exactly works. It looks like I am building an awesome truck in the near future

Awesome looking car. Really great lines! Cool idea of running the HoG steering through the gearbox. Pity that the past few weeks it seems there was suddenly a buying spree on white 19L's soft axles, because this car looks awesome in white. I remember looking at the axles a few weeks ago, because I wanted some spares (I got 6 on the Mustang) and perhaps built some cars of my own in white with it in the future and there were plenty on bricklink, but looks like no spares for me for a while.

Sorry to be double posting on my own topic, was expecting some responses on my last edit, in the end I decided to stick to the original. The reason for this post though is that I took photos for the parts and the promo picture . As far as I know we are allowed to have small images highlighting the functions of the model in the promo picture. So I tried it in true Lego style with some white arrows Had to make a new icon for Lego to use on their boxes to explain the trailer stand locking the wheel loader into place And the parts picture: Exactly 200!

[MINI] ATV
Appie replied to VKTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it is a cute ATV. I like the pendular axle and bench Good to know this is prefered for the entries. I actually wanted to put images around my "box image" highlighting the functions. -
[MINI] Combine Harvester
Appie replied to nikolyakov's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
LA knob is fine yeah, I mentioned it in combination with the HoG steering, since those 2 axles would cross and easiest fix would to be move LA control to the side, but like I said, just a minor thing, seems perfectly playable the way it is. -

Looks great! Good improvements. Cool that you got the steering in too. -
[MINI] Combine Harvester
Appie replied to nikolyakov's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Really nice model and as Zblj pointed out nice technique on the head. If I'd give a little suggestion on this nice model is to move the LA control to the side and steering on top instead of on the back. Model is fine if you don't though. -
After I looked up that contest I suppose it could have worked for the triple contest, but I wasn't a member on this forum at that time. Nor did I have the parts or ideas to make something if I did know, since that was like a month (I see the contest was in november) after I came out of my 'dark ages' I will try this thank you, but would like to add that making it taller would make it even taller than the wheel loader. The truck is at this time 1 stud higher than the wheel loader. While I haven't looked at pictures of average truck heights and average wheel loader heights, my aim was to keep them close together in height. I could also try to make the side of the truck cabine 4 studs instead of 5, that should make it look taller too. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the tip. And of course thank you everybody for the kind words I hope it does well in the contest. edit: Not sure if I am allowed to double post, especially since my original post was a few hours ago and considering this is a contest, it might be looked at as "bumping", but the reason for this edit is that I gave Drakmin's suggestion a whirl and these are the results: This is the original besides the wheel loader, they actually differ 1/2 stud in height, not a full stud: This height looked pretty solid to me in scale. Decent sized wheel loader besides a decent sized truck. I chose the slightly smaller tires (24mm) for the truck on purpose too, so the slightly bigger ones (30mm) of the wheel loader would pop more. This is the 1 stud higher cabine, ignore the rough edges (like the long pin with axle), it's just to give you an idea how it would look: This is how it would look besides the wheel loader, now 1.5 stud taller than the wheel loader: And here's my idea of making the cabine look taller than it actually is with a 4 stud long cabine instead of the original 5 studs: Again, just to give you all a rough idea of how it would look. I personally think it completely misses its goal. I think it makes the truck look longer, not taller and an obvious problem with this one is the wheelarches for the steering and the fact I need the liftarms (doesn't have to be 3x5 bent liftarm obviously) to the rear wheels for structural integrity or you could easily rip off the rear of the truck by the connectors in the centre of chassis. I am still leaning towards the original version, but what do you guys think?

Thanks everybody and yeah Lundgren it is very playable I have been playing with it since I finished it yesterday basically Pigpen, sorry to hear that, but if you're confident about yours, you should follow through with it. I was debating with myself if I wanted to wait making a topic for it, but I felt very confident about how the model is now so I made the topic. And maybe it inspires some others in their builts, like I have been inspired by other builders in general, may the best one win
