I like how this turned out, I agree about the rear spoiler being a little flat and the interior needing a diff colour to make it pop. One thing I wonder though, since the whole look of this vehicle reminds me of a modern 8865, was that model in the back of your mind while building this? Especially the hood, general lines of the car and the lack of fenders (which I like) scream 8865 to me. If the 8865 was indeed an inspiration, I'd defintely suggest blue seats White would be cool too though.

Generic Contest Discussion

Plus the crazy amount of posts trying to find holes in very clearly stated rules. -
You keep hating on those minibuilds, but imo they add more to the model than your "lifeboats". The reason for that being that they at least have something that could qualify as a Technic function on their own instead of being just a prop like your boats. Other than that, keep it up, except really need to move that BB or engine though. It looks really weird imo.

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
Appie replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Considering it's a modern version of the car chassis of 1980 and not 1977, I'd say it's better to leave it as this, because celebrating a 40 years anniversary with a 37 year model as a an actual set would be super weird imo. It's still a little weird as it is now, but now it can at least pass as a nice gesture, which I still think it is. After all, they could have done nothing too. -

OH no no no, NO!!! 5 second mark.... look at 2003, that's not the 8455 Backhoe! The backhoe of awesome pneumatic glory, thats the 8069 from 2011, the backhoe of crappy LA's. Shame on you Lego! -
Technic 2017 Set Discussion

Well for a RC model it actually has the biggest part count? 8275 was 1400ish? 8043 was 1100ish? 9398 was 1300ish? 42030 was 1600ish and now this with 1800ish. Besides more parts adding weight which would slow a model down, all that PF equipment has a price so they put less parts in the set to keep the price of the set in check? -

Oh, don't worry. I will be building this. For the people who consider building this as well. Rebrickable suggestions for additional sets is nice info for this creation. Besides having a Porsche, sets like the Claas or Arocs will bump you up from 62% to 75-76%. And if you have both and something like the 42054 you are looking at 85% or so. With the majority of the missing 15% then being system bricks, which aren't expensive or (very) rare. -

Could you tell me how you made this missing part list? Because for the life of me I can't figure out how to get this site to simply remove all parts from this DB11 part list that are already present in a Porsche... I am probably missing something so simple, but I don't see it and I already wasted enough time (thanks slow loading of rebrickable) on this to do it manually by now... Edit: nvm figured it out. Or well, at least a method through custom list did the trick. Edit2: Hmmm 91% after adding a couple of sets that I already disassembled. -

I made the model as well, but from my own Lego and modded the drive to 2x L motors with 1:3 speed up. It's pretty fast, but the lack of torque makes it struggle a bit on carpet at home to turn in its spot compared to direct drive L motors, but on smooth surfaces it's a lot of fun. -

Love it. I really like how the lines flow in the topview. I might steal that that aerobrake system for something of my own :) -

Looks very good and the convertible roof is very well done. For something that gave you the most headaches apparently it has a very cool mechanism. Great job! -
The mini builds at least come with their own functions as well, which also adds to the playability. Of course these functions like those of the ship are pretty basic, but for kids who are tired of moving everything manual in City sets, I think this set would be a nice step up to see what axles and gears can do.

42009 vs 8043
Appie replied to jotta93's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
While I appreciate the 42009, it doesn't even come close to the awesome-ness that is the 8043. The amount of ingenuity in that model is of another level. And as pointed out, great playability. Get it. -
Maybe I missed it in the review, is the IR receiver a V1 or V2? I don't expect a V2 since it isn't needed for this PF setup, but it would be nice to have a new source for V2's after the 9398.

I am sure you'll figure it out for the trunk, because looking at that topview and the sideview: the flow of the hood to the doors to rear wheelarch is awesome. Those panels complement each other very well. The system bricks do flow with the wheelarch in the rear from a sideview, just not the baby panels below it when looking at the rear. Perhaps replace the baby panels with more system bricks that link up to the bricks above it gives a better flow? Or maybe make an angle on the baby panels so it it flows downwards, in line with the system bricks curve? I have no clue if you have space for that around the rear lights, but just an idea. Or maybe, after looking at that video again for 10 times of the DB11 unloading from the trailer: put the baby panels upside down (and maybe push them back a little into the rearlights, so it makes the smallest kind of spoiler)? It does have a little spoiler kind of thing going on there with it going up. Perhaps this also gives room to make the curves more connected between system bricks and baby panels? -

I think he mentioned that after adding a dash and whatnot around the paddles that it got alot more rigid and works pretty well. -

Great improvement! It's coming along very nicely. I don't have much to comment except that the silver flex axles from top view would look better I think if the spot where you put the silver #1 connectors is moved inwards half a stud. What part would I use for that? I have no clue sorry, but I think that half stud makes it flow. The rest of the body flows awesome on that top view, except those axles. As for the rear, same problem I think, it lacks flow. Looking at the video above with the Aston on the trailer, every curve is silky smooth while yours so far has a couple of system bricks stickin out? Considering you already made an amazing improvement on the rest of the body I am sure you will figure this out as well. Keep up the good work. -

Yay! He's back! Congrats on your new job. Your new model looks cool. -
Ok, must be my eyes then for the brick As for the prices, they were listed on the Lego webshop for a while with a release of "20 december", they were taken down though last week, but the prices they had can still be found through sites like https://www.brickwatch.net/nl-NL/set/42061/Telehandler.html, which lists the german, dutch and brittish prices for the Lego stores when they were up (need to click "niet leverbaar"/no longer avaible tab to see them). Perhaps these prices are wrong, I don't know until they are back on the official Lego store.

Thanks for the great review Sariel I really like this set. That steering solution is pretty cool. The bucket tilt does look like it could use a knob, I'd struggle with that as well. I am pleasantly surprised this set is advertised as a 20 euro set. (nvm the set is advertised as 30 euro's, price as per the norm) That's quite alot of good parts in a cheap package (and I am not even looking at discounts on that price for that). Also, is it just me or is the 40 year brick slightly off white? It doesn't look as white as the stickers besides it, but maybe it's just my eyes.

I personally think it's a little busy on the bonnet now too. I think the perfect bonnet is somewhere between this version and the first. I think if the baby panels were replaced by 2 soft axles it would look alot better. I rather like the panels above the wheels, especially from that angle since they match the headlights shape and it was pretty empty in that space in the first version. I like either style (panel or skeleton soft axles) or a mix, so I eagerly await the result. -
Congratulations to the winners! Well deserved. I am pleasantly surprised to see that my entry came in 4th place with all all these great entries as competition. Thanks people for voting!

Great looking Ferrari! Just part it out. Unless you feel like building an inferior version first compared to your MOCs and especially the Aston. Even with Didumos' and the community's excellent work on fixing alot of problems with that set, it's still a Porsche with 4 speeds
