  1. Nice model, but in my opinion it looks a bit boring. Some grey, with added grey and a bit of grey. Probably very authentic though Btw, If you need any help with LDraw/instructions, you can PM me or post a topic here.
  2. I personally don't mind if non-existing colors are being used. Although, when I build something digitally, I always use existing brick/color combinations only (in the case I want a real-life version of it), I can see why a lot of people don't mind. You know, everyone enjoys Lego for their own reason. Some people just like to be creative and digital building is the perfect solution: endless amounts of bricks in ALL colors. Some people love the challenge of building something with restrictions. Everyone has their own reason. In this case, in my opinion, their is no good or bad, it's completely personal. And to keep within the Lego spirit: if you want to build something someone has made with non-existing parts, you can always modify it and make it yours
  3. I have used Technic pins for the exact same thing for years  They never broke and they held the planks with kilos and kilos of stuff just fine.
  4. Well, it's not a problem with LDCad, it's just that Brickstock can't handle the different parts numbers available for some parts. I recommend to use Rebrickable's 'Private MOC' feature to import LDraw models. Rebrickable's LDraw part mapping is much better (not 100% perfect either, but much better). After importing it to Rebrickable, you can export it again to a variety of formats, including BrickStock
  5. I'm using "Allit Varioplus Basic" series of containers. More specifically Varioplus Basic 54 and Varioplus Basic 47. I have mixed both the old and new version, because I started with the old version years ago and at some point Allit updated their products including the Varioplus series. So, I got 2 versions. I used to buy them here. It's a great shop with very good prices and shipping costs to NL is just something like €7. However, recently their assortment of Varioplus boxes has been drastically reduced. They used to have a huge selection, but now there's only a few left. The ones I always bought are gone too. I emailed them asking if they would return, but I got no reply :( So far, I haven't been able to find a shop that with the same prices and same selection :( I do hope that they return. The boxes are great and for the price at the prices at that shop are excellent (I believe about €13 per cabinet). Allit's own new catalog still lists the VarioPlus series including the VarioPlus basic series. However, in their newest catalog I did notice a small design change, so maybe they're just waiting for the new stock to arrive. I hope so... Also, the ones in the big closet are these from the Praxis.
  6. I don't have any insight in how many instructions of an average creation are sold. However, I'm sure not enough live from. At most it's a nice extra little income to finance something (e.g. to buy new Lego). But, when you compare the amount of money you get with the amount of time it takes to create (good, high quality) building instructions. The amount of money you earn 'per hour' is really low (unless you magically sell a lot of instructions of course ). Especially if you're a bit of a perfectionist (like me). I regularly work on (Technic) instructions. Not my MOCs though, always someone else's creation. I always leave it to the builder to decide if he/she wants to ask money for the instructions or not. I'll make the instructions anyway, because I enjoy doing that. And I think that's really important. It takes a heck load of time and patience to create good instructions (especially for Technic models!). If you don't enjoy creating the instructions, you're probably better of finding something else to earn a little extra
  7. Well, I bought it or got some as presents. I usually buy 2 or 3 Technic sets a year* and sometimes a big brick-based set (like the Tower Bridge or the VW Beetle). And a small bricklink order every now and then. And I rob a Lego factory once a month *this year will probably be an exception with a lot of great sets
  8. So, I've changed my workplace a bit. Or, actually not the actual workplace, but more the extra storage inside the closet. I did reorganize and rearrange a lot of parts, especially the Technic stuff. Technic went from ~8 of those drawer-boxes to 12 of those to make room for more parts in the future (so I don't have to reorganize everything every time I buy a set or a bunch of parts). In the extra storage I also changed a lot. I now have 6 of those boxes in the top instead of 2 that contain all kinds of misc parts. I won't go in-depth into my storage system (too lazy for that), so just a few pictures A few more pictures in this BrickSafe folder
  9. Well, the new-new Xbox controller (so not the 'old' Xbox One controller, but the new Xbox One S controller) has Bluetooth aside from the proprietary protocol. However, after a quick (really quick) google, the Bluetooth feature only works on Windows 10.
  10. I believe only the new Xbox controller has ('normal') Bluetooth connection options.
  11. Well, that's not really useful because LPub4 is not being developed any more. The successor is called LPub3D and is being actively updated. (https://sourceforge.net/p/lpub3d/) The author is most active on the LDraw forums though. @Rane, if you're using LPub3D and if you can reproduce the error (so it's not a weird one time glitch), you can report it here. Note that Trevor (the LPub3D author) is sometimes very inactive (doesn't reply for a week) and sometimes very active (replies almost immeadtly). Not that I mind, just wanted to let you know
  12. Eurobricks wide staff or just Technic forum staff?
  13. Looking forward to see what your magical building hands will do with pneumatic!
  14. Is it possible to use the old and new version at the same time?
  15. Oh c'mon, I finally have 2 sBricks (which is the perfect amount imho, because it's as much as 4 IR receivers, so you can 'sbrickify' any model) but then a new one is coming. Ah well, it's not that bad, I'm perfectly happy with how they are now
  16. This might be a nice new feature in LPub3D. I'll make a request tomorrow :)
  17. I think you're better of looking for someone in the theme subforums here on EB (in your case the special themes or the Town subforums I think). Most of the builders are there I think
  18. If you like to use LDD and find LDCad's camera hard to use, try to switch from TBL (trackbal) camera mode to SPN (spin) camera mode in the menu in the bottom right corner (with the 3 colored arrows). SPN mode is like LDD and I personally like it a bazillion times more than TBL mode. Also, regarding the UI. Yes, it's not world's prettiest UI (I personally can see LDCad looking very nice in a MS Office kind of GUI with a 'ribbon interface), but it doesn't really impact usability and easyness right?
  19. Just a little question before trying to solve your problem: did you actually turn part snapping on? It's off by default. To turn it on, go with your mouse to the bottom left corner of the editor (where the 3 colored arrows are). A menu should pop up. Make sure that in the bottom left corner of the menu, there's a green PS next to the green AEP. If it's a red GS, part snapping is turned off. Click it to turn it on. Also, a little tip if you're new to LDCad: try clicking (in the same menu on the right side) on TBL. It switches to SPN. TBL (trackball) and SPN (spin) are different modes of how to turn the model in the editor. Try both, I personally find SPN a bazillion times easier!
  20. You can place the windows anywhere you want. If you want the original GUI, drag (with CTRL) the color window to the side (yes, it becomes very high now). Then drag the part window the same side, but in the lower (left) corner, it should pop under the color window. Then just resize the two windows using the gray bar between them, like normal
  21. Regarding question 1: I think you have floating windows now. Select the top bar of the part or color window, hold CTRL and drag it to the side. Repeat the process with the other one. and drag it to where you want it. Then resize however you like it. After that, you can go to Prefs > GUI > Lock docked windows to lock them so you don't accidentally remove or replace them. I'm not sure about question 2 though. Never really thought about that one (now I think of it, I actually never had to use PF lights in an LDraw model)
  22. Yes, indeed. Using an inventory (I personally like Rebrickable) solves 99% of the color problems (although not sure when color blind...). Rebrickable also has a nice conversion table. But, the set in this case wasn't inventoried everywhere Yea, that's true. Although, it seems to have improved lately. A few years ago it was extremely awful. For some reason though, their old instructions (somewhere around pre 2000 or something like that) are in extremely high quality, they're mostly even vector images instead of raster images
  23. So, I'm back from vacation but you guys certainly weren't doing nothing Nice to see new people contributing. Welcome! Your model looks fine at first sight, but I'm not sure the colors are correct. It's difficult for me to make sure, because there's no inventory available anywhere and the image is just a box-art. But, after looking at (and based on 'experience' with Lego's color usage), I think (pretty sure) you need these fixes:First and foremost, dark gray should be dark bluish gray (also known as DBG and has LDraw #72) and light gray should be light bluish gray (LBG, LDraw #71). That's for all models since I believe somewhere around 2003. Secondly, your Light Yellow bricks should be Tan (LDraw #19). Lastly, the bricks you actually made Tan should be Dark Tan (#28). Aside from that, it looks like you've got some slight misalignment atthe light gray pin on the end of the cannon. Not really a big problem, it's difficult as hell to place parts correctly in MLCad. If you're interested in making more models, I'd really recommend LDCad. It has a modern, fast 3d interface and it has automatic brick snapping (so bricks snap into place, like in LDD). If you have anymore questions (regarding the model, LDraw, LDCad etc.) feel free to ask or make a topic here in the subforum.
  24. Do you mean part 4510 or 30586? You can find those parts by typing the numbers into the search bar.
