It has been a while with all those sci-fi builds, but I`m back at last to building for Guilds of Historica, and tying this build for Age of Mitgardia in with the continuing Algus Saga. Bravely, the young hedge knight Lorastan approached the large house. He had heard the tales, he had the scroll he found in the old library with him. "A blade forged by a dragon". That was it, that was the solution the North needed to fend of the invaders of the Frozen Beyond. And he had tracked down this master smith for just that thing. Arriving at the smithy, he was greated by the master smith. They had sat down and he had told him of the stories he had heard, that he needed to find not only a special ore, but would have had the blade bathed in the breath of a fire dragon. "Nonsense!" the smith had declared. "What that scroll implies is that you need a sword forged by ME, the great smith El Dragao! Ages ago, I learned the craft from the big firewurm Flambretsky himself, mightiest of the dragons of the roaring flame!" "But it will cost you a hefty sum though" he had added. Lorastan considered his options, and he agreed. Surely, this blade would cost him not only everything he owed, but would leave him indebted to the smith for years to come if he failed. But he wasn`t going to fail, no sir, he was going to defeat the Algus, and the riches and fame would make him one, if not the, mightiest knight of Mitgardia. He watched with enthousiasm as El Dragao set to work. Later, on some frozen wasteland.

So here is the catergory A entry, the Osuzumebachi (Japanese Giant Hornet in english), a sleek and fast spacefighter. *** Start Log *** Julali 24th, AD 3825 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting "Wow, this thing is fast!" Testing the `Giant Hornet` class fighter, Thesseus was impressed by the speed of the small craft. A while ago, a call from the high ups had come in that the Kawashita forces where being mobilised to face `an Unknown Menace`, on which, well being unknown, not much was known. The Pale Lady had granted him one of the newest types of fighter vessels, the Osuzumebachi class infiltrator fighter. A small and sturdy vessel, though lightly armed with two small blaster cannons, but powered by two very large ion engines... "This should get the job done", he reflected, "Thesseus, 3, 2, 1, ...UCHIAGE!" *** End Log *** The engines are glowing hot and leave a trail of ion energy as she shoots forward. Layered wings showing off the Kawashita colour scheme. I really enjoyed building this small vessel, and won`t be recycling it anytime soon... now hopefully it will be granting me some nice stack of credits :-)

Seeing your figs, I was spontaniously thinking about Chevalier D`Eon actually (Lorenza and partner) -
This is one of the last weekly builds in a while I`ll be doing for Andromeda's Gates, and unfortunatly it`s a small one that doesn`t grant me much hope of lots of points. The reasons are not that I`m bored with it or such, but it`s school holidays, which throws the whole calendar in disarray, as well as the fact I`m having to focus on building a lot of other things first. GoH builds for the Algus Saga, displays that need to get finished for Brick Mania Antwerp in november, the Harry Potter `family collab`... so much to do, so little time. And then there is that new Challenge for AG, consisting of 3 categories: build a fighter sized spaceship, build an interior of a spaceship room and build a bigger spaceship, all on minifig scale. I`ve been spending the last days to build those, so together with a new entry for the Algus story I`ve finished no less then 4 bigger MOC`s for the coming weeks. Unfortunatly, that means as well I`m running dry on material for AG now, having one more `behind`, but I`m trying to keep that one for a more opportune storytime moment. *** Star Log *** Julali 17th, AD 3825 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting We find ourselves on the arid desert planet of Volfort. I have been dispatched to search the rocky undersoil for Biomass, probably left here by the sparse life that died and sank into the sand. It seems like a *Cchhh crccchhh chhhh* Thesseus, Thesseus, do you read? Thesseus, come in? Thesseus here, I read you. What`s up Grumpy? Scanners show activity near you, of the bad kind. You better get yourself ready... Activity? What kind of activity? I got no idea, but I`m reading energy signals and heat signals, so I guess it might be an armed scout or a pirate. *BADOOOOOOOOOOOM ZWIIIIIIIIIIUUUWWW* Thesseus? What`s going on? Thesseus? Thesseus? No worries Grumpy, still here. What happened? Are you under attack? Yes, but no worries, I managed to stave it off. Apparently, some sort of MANTIS raider or prospector, he drew his gun on me. His gun? Did you manage it? Yes, it`s all under control, but you can already note I did manage to get some Biomass collected. *** End Log *** But one thing is for sure, after this week has ran it`s course, at least I`ll have attained my personal goal I`ve set in the AG story... so it`s back to the medieval times now first!

Mijn Blokje overhere in Belgium prints and engraves in various lettertypes, as shown on my badge here (they did everything bar the Crazy Bricks one, thats from a Kickstarter project): You can find their page here, for 1x8 you do need to mail Cathy first. She will tell you how to proceed (usually, order 1x6s and she will modify the order to 1x8s which will show as such on your order form) -

In this weeks efforts of the Kawashita Corporation to dominate the Andromeda's Gates galaxy, I made planetfall on Aeristus, located on grid C04. For the build on this foresty planet, I wanted to build a woodcutter vehicle in the style of industrial vehicles you see in the Thunderbirds, big lumbering machines for mass industrial work. *** Start Log *** Julali 10th, AD 3825 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting Marching orders came in today, and we are headed out to the forested planet of Aeristus. Located on the western coreside arm of the Andromeda's Gates galaxy, it`s a planet dominated by big forests and grassy planes. Our job there is to put down some of those ancient trees and extract water from the soil, and for that we decided to make use of what we call the `Woodcutter`. This old ice slicer is suitable for the environment with it`s big stabilising wheels, and the saws should have an easier time cutting down trees then they have at times when we hit eternal glaciers. The front and back saws are honed to perfection and should be giving no problem at all. I will be in constant contact with The Pale Lady as works progresses. *** End Log ***

Having years of wargame painting competition judging under my belt, I actually `understand` the reason it *seems* Octan might feel are rated higher. In every judging effort, there is something as a `wow factor`, the personal first impression you get by looking at something at first glance. They have a vivid and lively colourscheme in their white / red / green compared to the darker, duller looking gray / dark red and black / lime green colourschemes of respectively Kawashita and Mantis. That might sound odd, but this happens to make Octan builds stand out more to the background they are on. Take for example a grey rocky planet, the Octan scheme contrasts excellently with it, while the other two`s darker colours tend to blend in more to the surroundings. I saw this happen in wargaming a lot as well, bright and coloured Warhammer Bretonnians or High Elves on average got slightly better points then equal level painted dark and gloomy Dark Elves or Chaos Warrior forces. It`s just, well, a thing, that happens in the brain when you first lay eyes on it. Is that a critique? No, just something the human brain does to you. On Lego conventions, M-Tron builds tend to capture the eye more then Blacktron builds as well due to their vivid red and trans greenish / yellow parts then black with `bland` yellow transparent pieces. Happy colours give a feel good mindset. This might not make a big difference per se, perhaps giving a 4 where an equal build of the other two corporations get a 3, but this can cause a small shift in the tallied up and rounded out points afterwards. Personally, I don`t take to much offence on the scores. Sure, i might have thought left or right something is rated one to high or one to low, but in the end, I just build for my own pleasure and I just like being `part of something` with a story and some tactics, but I think that once all planets are `dominated`, the whole game is going on a total overhaul anyways, as people will be building a bit less frequent as `immediate result` aka a planet gained will diminish and then we will be seeing a more consistent line of judging because the amount of MOC`s, in my expectation, every week will fall from 45+ to around 25+. Just my 2 cents
