  1. TBH, I think you best contact the club through belug.be about that
  2. It`s that time of the year again, when my `local` Brick Mania event is organised by BeLUG. The 14th and 15th of November, this will again take place in the Waagnatie in Antwerp, Belgium. For myself, I`ll be present exposing my Display builds, MOC`s and vignettes that have past over on this blog this year, so hope to see you there and have a chat :-)
  3. My latest, and probably final build for Andromeda`s Gates as I just can`t get the knack of building good spacey models (curvatures are my curse), this one is a bit of a special thingie I put together. Well, unless of course with challenges, and if I have the time to do so. The Machine Buffalo was the mobile base of the 80s japanese Super Sentai show `Liveman` (that what would become Power Rangers in the western world) which disgorged the small animal vehicles that would combine in a giant robot. Now, I went with the looks and design of the vessel, and included one of the beasts as well, as a sort of `mobile battle tank` for my adventurers in the tale. The vessel is armed with big plasmablasters, as can be seen as this one fires his deadly load towards the enemies of Kawashita. The top hatch opens to be able to launch the Talon, a small birdlike scouting drone to do reconnaisance over the surrounding area. The large front hatch opens to reveal the command center, where the operations of the tank are controlled. The rear hatch is the ammunitions depot, featuring blasters, electro sticks and the likes. It was rather fun to build and challenging to get the angles consistent with the original vessel from the television show, but now I have to erect some castle walls again ;-)
  4. The curvature of the roof is just fantastic and the details in the floor gorgeous, awesome work
  5. LOL "You mean this isn't an anime convention, sir?" Hilarious story once again, and great builds
  6. Ever since I was a wee little lad and I read the The Hobbit for the first time, Bombur has always been my favorite dwarf in the Company of Thorin. Maybe it`s because I can relate to him due to physical errrm qualities, or the fact he was, well, just not a warrior at all, I don`t know, but I was excited to see how he turned out in the movie trilogy. The breaking of the gates of Erebor is by far my favorite moment in the whole series of films, with at the moment of desperation, Bombur blowing a mighty horn and the bell crashes away the barricades. It visually, and epically in music, struck me. So needless to say, I just had to have a little vignette of Bombur, unfortunatly they didn`t release armoured versions though of most dwarves, while he blew the horn. I think it worked out rather okay, as there isn`t a `bend horn` in Lego to wrap all around his girth, so I had to create a mouthpiece, but it does represent the scene for me. Now to one day build the actual smashing of the barricades ;-)
  7. Fantastic work on those controle rooms!
  8. You are absolutely, positively, the commander of the Arkham Assylum in space Great build and another fantastic story
  9. Those are some mighty impressive builds, awesome work!
  10. It`s gorgeous, if feels like `Elves in space` (which I mean like a good thing, I love that theme)
  11. Hmmm indeed they could... indeed they could Thanks for the tip!
  12. Great looking build, well done all three of you.
  13. Aye, thought it turned out okay. I had that image from movie 2 in mind when i set out the build, with Harry and Ron gently landing at The Burrow. I just tilted it like a few scenes before because I thought it would just look cool. @ all: thanks for the comments
  14. And it`s done! The first `family colaboration` we did in Lego, a display like I do for my Tolkien sets, for Harry Potter. The idea srang from my GF`s mind when she was at Brick Mania Wetteren, in that she wanted to have something displayed as well (read: which I can take along), and I offered to do something with the The Burrow set, as it is a nice presentable thing. Now, while the GF added the idea (and two flower pieces she bought in the Netherlands a few weeks ago), the Smurf `donated` his The Burrow sets core (sans minifigures, and I didn`t need the catapult and the chimney thing), while I spend the money on minifigures for the set, the printed name tile (made at Mijn Blokje) and well, all the rest :-) I then started to watch the movies at last, and came with the idea of having the Ford Anglia from the Hogwart`s Express set included, as Harry and Ron fly towards the Weasley house in the Chamber of Secrets. The Harry hanging out of the door was just an idea I had, even though it happened a bit before in the film, as I thought it would look cool. The area surrounding the house was then dressed up by a small section of the stream near the house, and a tree in front as they live near a forest edge. Friends animals do lend themselves well for the Harry Potter scenes I found out, adding that certain "children`s cuteness" that was prelevalent in the first two movies, who are rather innocent compared to later instalments. I also went for the corn to make the borders of the build alternate from only grass patches, and used the same method I tried over a year ago in a GoH build, something I was rather pleased with for result. I`m rather happy with how the display turned out in the end, and right on time to take it along for FACTS already, while it`s initial `deadline` I had set for myself was Brick Mania Antwerpen in november. But building it `side-by-side` with the Rivendell display I showed last week, this went swifter then expected and now I`m all set with the displays I wanted to build for myself in 2015... so that is a goal Completed on the marker :-)
  15. You and Big Sal, my two favorite storytellers in the Gates hehehe Another hilarious adventure, and well build
  16. They can be found on this page on my blog
  17. Okay, success, I managed to get my third display for the Tolkien franchise done this year, and in time for FACTS. Now, I like building these kind of things, to grab an existing set or sets that go together (like my Lake-Town), and build up a display base around it. For the Council of Elrond set, and the videogame Elrond fig, I grouped them under Rivendell (to be sure it fitted on the brick to be printed), and went for a look from the Lord of the Rings videogame. The terrace where the Council takes place, near a cliffside, and with a waterfall and stream bridged by small, borderless bridges. I think it turned out quit alright... CnC welcome
  18. Very stand out colours, making it look really vibrant Great work!
  19. The lights are a nice touch, and I love how you `mitgardiased` it by adding the colours into the roof
  20. Great build and fantastic retelling of the tale
  21. Very lovely build, the woodwork is awesome
  22. Love the B-Wing style of the ship, great build But I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but didn`t you miss the deadline?
  23. Yurps, but not that much though, was waiting for news if there would be one. However, I can chunk down the displays next to the lay out if you want, giving an extra `pair of eyes` and an option of escape for those that want to stroll around, so I`ll get in touch once the forms roll out
  24. Definitly will, it`s a fun story and game, but it won`t be on my `priority one` position. I still have a dozen builds that need to be sorted out first before I can go back to `all weekly`
