  1. Name: Apeface Allegiance: Decepticon Subgroup: Headmaster Horrorcons Alternate modes: Jet plane and gorilla Motto: Obnoxiousness is not a problem. It is an art ========== Actually this guy was never in my to-built list.. but since this is "year of triple changers" for me, and Apeface is sort of a low-hanging fruit compared to other triple changers when it comes to complexity, I give that a shot. Compared to the original G1 Apeface.. some compromises must be made in the form of a different-looking jet mode. Hope you guys like my rendition! The ball joints used for the gorilla rear legs are too weak to hold his body up. So he can't stand upright . With LEGO Snapdragon I rebuilt few months earlier. (He's not a Headmaster though). To view more photos especially how he transform between modes, proceed to my blog entry below: https://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2019/10/lego-triple-changer-apeface-part-2-of-2.html Follow me in Instagram please! https://www.instagram.com/alanyuppie78/
  2. Hi guys, In between my major LEGO projects that sucked me many many weeks (months even) of time to complete .. I took a breather by grabbing a lego set and build (yet again) a LEGO Transformer. LEGO set 70842:Emmet's Couch Mech is from LEGO Movie 2 theme and only recently I managed to get it at 50% off. What a bargain! Since the set itself is officially a mech, so most of the parts are useful to build robots as well. The core design was completed by day 3... and I spent another 2 days more to refine it. A microscope mode was created purely out of experimentations since this lego set doesn't have wheels (for land based mode) or adequate number of wedge/slopes (for swooshable plane/space jet mode). Transforming between modes doesn't require reassembly of parts. I'm very pleased to discover this set has parts for me to build the robot fingers as well , compared to just knuckles with holes in them. No wheels ? No problem! here's an extra hover tank mode. INSTRUCTIONS BELOW! Note: children might require adult supervision though. If you're having problems following the building instructions above, you can pay a visit to my blog link below where I posted a detailed instructions with more detailed steps for beginners to follow: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2019/08/instructions-for-lego-transformer.html Have fun!
  3. Broadside is one of my favorite triple changers ever since I set my eyes on his G1 toy photo decades ago. I had a chance to acquire Chinese KO version of him many years ago (bundled together with a few KO combiner limbs) but sadly missed out on it. So I never owned / played with this toy to understand his notoriety as a brick-former in the TF fandom. Anyway... 9 years ago I attempted LEGO Broadside version 1 (below) . VERSION 1 As you can see... the ship mode looks fat and the plane mode has saggy wings. duh! VERSION 2 Few months ago I started this v2 project after I saw a photo of Macross Valkyrie in my FB feed . That's an eureka moment where I kinda got the transformation to jet mode figured out. From there , I took a few breaks in between to retreat, rethink and redo it to get the right shaping in both his alt modes. Inspired by USS Nimitz, the back of the ship mode must be symmetrical to provide more mass to form robot legs, unlike an actual ship show above . Compared to v1, the ship mode v2 here is missing armaments on the deck. This is a nod to G1 Broadside's bio about "his vulnerability in ship mode and the need to rely on his passengers to protect him." USS Titanic is a Transformer too :) One of the transformation step: fold the ship deck to form the jet mode's rear. JET MODE Jet mode was inspired by F-14 Tomcat. Since the ship mode is long, this causes the halved deck to form pretty long wings for the jet. ROBOT MODE! In the actual G1 toy of Broadside, he's equipped with an Axe and also a gun. Here, I've decided to integrate them both as a single weapon (Axe turning to gun)... and it's named Hull-Raiser. :) When not on active duty, he tend to his farm and crops. With fellow triple changers that I built recently, Rodimus Prime and Snapdragon For more photos of Broadside v2 and clearer visuals on how he transform between modes , click on my blog link below: https://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2019/08/lego-triple-changer-broadside-v2-part-2.html don't forget to follow me below! http://instagram.com/alanyuppie78 https://www.facebook.com/alanyuppiebrick https://www.youtube.com/user/alanyuppie
  4. As the title suggest, Titanicus transforms into RMS Titanic ,the tragic ship that sank more than 100 years ago. The length:width ratio of the ship is about 10:1 ... so I've decided to use a LEGO scale of 38 :4 studs to build this. Actually I really enjoyed "sculpting" the front and rear hull of the ship. They took me many iterations before I am finally satisfied. One man's (lego) flower is another man's propeller I'd say! One of the final additions to the ship were the masts at the front and back. This required me to redesign the robot arms to accomodate these masts. STORY TIME! How's the Ice-breaker mode? Looks pretty cool eh despite being an "after-thought". Since the ship is only 4-studs wide... and 2 studs were allocated to form the hull/side panels... I'm left with 2-studs thickness to work with when it comes to designing the inner core /structure of the robot mode. Reinforcing the core requires me to slide a Technic axle inside the core as a backbone (think Kebab). *Ship funnels played important roles in padding up the hollowness of the shoulder. 2 of them helps to hold the back kibble in place ,preventing it from drooping. *funny though . Earlier in this project, I started building the funnels short and stumpy coz they kept getting in the way during transformation. After I redesign the transformation method, those funnels become helpful. Ok guys, hit my blog for more photos and visuals on the transformation: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2019/04/lego-transformer-uss-titanic-ship-aka.html Don't forget to subscribe my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/alanyuppie And follow me in IG too! https://www.instagram.com/alanyuppie78/
  5. Well, this year's LEGO offering has been good time me. As a starter... I immediately took a liking to LEGO Creator 31090 due to the prospect of building a LEGO TF from the parts inside. So here we are. BumbleSea is a low profile sibling of Bumblebee and he transform into an undersea sub with salvage and recovery abilities . Transformation doesn't require reassembly of parts. One of my biggest challenge was implementing the windshield on his chest (like Bumblebee), which connects pretty near to the pelvic balljoints. For building instructions, pay a visit to my blog below: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2019/02/lego-creator-31090-underwater-robot.html For building instructions of my other LEGO Transformers ,especially those made from a single LEGO set. go here: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/search/label/instruction
  6. Name: Stitchmaster Motto: I came, I sewed, I conquered Faction: Decepticon Role: Master interrogator Strength: Ability to coerce captured enemies into revealing secrets by applying various torture techniques involving needles Weakness: soft spot for soft toys. Tend to be distracted to help mend them instead of going out for battles. This LEGO Transformer was built at record speed of 3 days ! Not only that, I spent one extra day to make another copy of it just for photo shoot! Hope you guys enjoy 'em. For more photos showing the transformation steps, please visit my blog link below. Thank you!! http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2018/07/lego-transformer-sewing-machine-aka.html And here's a video of him in action!
  7. I really really love Pointblank's alt mode (the cartoon version) , so its only a matter of time before I finally decided to build him. However, I really dislike the partsforming element from the toy.. So I decided to improve that by having the rear engine stay connected between transformation. That engine was the last component I built before I wrap up this project actually. The 3rd party version did a really good job there, which I took a few design inspiration from. TRANSFORMATION ROBOT MODE His crotch and thighs is black all over and that looks very plain... the least I can do now is mimicking his G1 toy sticker motif (os izzit spelled "motive") and apply a bit of red on his crotch . Luckily I found the right LEGO Nexo Knight's Crest for this purpose. The megablocks-engine is ready to be plucked off and then mounted on his fore arm. Actually I prefer his G1 cartoon/ head more than the toy /3P version. To recreate the blade-like spur on his head, I used a LEGO minifigure scaled pistol , with barrel pointing upwards . As usual, dozens more photos inside my blog ready to be viewed :) http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2018/05/lego-former-targetmaster-pointblank.html ALL TOGETHER NOW! 8. LEGO Transformer Chrono Swindler transforms into a Delorean (from Back to the Future movie franchise), without reassembly of parts and he's very poseable in robot mode too! This is an "accidental" homage to Swindler from Micromaster Race Car Patrol coz I discovered how much similarity it bear to Swindler ,altmode and transformation-wise , after I'm more than halfway done building it. - opening car hood and gull wings ! - With flight mode aka extendable wheels shocking even the bravest of humans - Thingamajig mounted on top car hood becomes robot weapon Check out my video as well too to see how the transformation goes! [MOC] LEGO dragonboat-former!

Hello everyone!!! I'm here again with something I kept under the radar for almost a month now. This dragonboat transformer was built to commemorate Chinese New Year and meant as my contribution to a CNY Oriental Themed LEGO diorama at a local mall. I never built anything with an Oriental feel before so I treated this as a challenge for me! The tail-end of the boat took me mere 1 hour or less to design while the front-end is where I faced most of the design challenges... how to convert the dragon head, neck and all to form the chest and arms and tucking in the robot head as well... That took me 2 weeks /80% of the building time there. If the dragon head looks familiar to you, that's because I plucked it off an official LEGO Ninjago set and performed fair amount of facial reconstruction on it. Transformation Robot mode One of my favorite photo from the whole lot, he's replicating a very famous Kung fu stance by a Chinese Folk hero/Martial artist . No points for guessing correctly who I am referring to! He's very well disguised in the Oriental Village scene below. Here's a nice short video on how the transformation goes... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPuCQIqp-ns As usual, hit my blog to view more photos and writeups on this creation: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2018/02/lego-transformer-dragon-boat.html Thanks guys!

    [MOC] Transformers Rodimus Prime

This LEGO project started immediately when POTP Rodimus official photos was revealed few months back. Instead of replicating POTP Roddy design (Hot Rod merging with his trailer to form super mode) ... I have chosen to integrate all of his vehicle components in robot mode, not unlike 3rd Party version of him, DX9. Initially he would "merely" transform from vehicle to robot mode but halfway through I decided to throw in a base mode after some tweaking. I relish on giving myself extra challenge there to kinda prolong the building process. Recently I got hold of a phone that could capture decent HD vids so from now on, instead of snapping photos of the transformation.. I will capture a video showing my nimble hands transforming my LEGO TFs. Please please please please subscribe my youtube channel..!! PROMOTIONAL PIC VEHICLE MODE BASE MODE Being a fan of base mode TF... I love to arm the base mode of my LEGO creations with tons of weaponry for defensive and offensive purpose. ROBOT MODE Before I get started on my LEGO TF project, I usually set in mind a few challenges/aims for the final design of my creation. For this Roddy: - Better proportions and neater kibbles not obstructing his waist , for a sharper looking silhouette - Curvier and less blocky legs derived from a blocky trailer. - I wanted less red (and more black/gray) for the legs from the primarily red vehicle mode. This means turning the trailer panels inside out to form his legs. - getting the vehicle cockpit to fit a lego minifigure - Chest to store the matrix. A definite must! - Forearm mounted cannons. Due to design limitations... his forearm cannons doesn't come from the vehicle intakes/exhausts. The arms are concealed inside the trailer together with the cannons. I am forced to distribute the intakes to become his shoulder mounted cannons instead. As usual.... hit my blog to view more photos ! http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/11/lego-rodimus-prime-part-3-of-3.html And follow me at facebook to get updates on my work in progress! https://www.facebook.com/alanyuppiebrick/ Thanks guys!
  11. Well it was early last month when I was done wrapping up my previous LEGO triple changer project . Intending to build one more (triple changer) ... then I saw the upcoming TLK Prime, improved/remolded version of AOE Voyager Prime . Well, I was expecting more.. since its been 3 years anyway ( I remembered ROTF Prime was waaaay better than it's predecessor from earlier movie). I really hoped the kibbles could be better managed with few extra hinges. Anyway.... so I decided to build my own , as usual (evil laugh here), with a few main challenge to overcome: > minimize the back kibbles to ensure he has a nice silhouette > tuck in the wheels as much as possible in his legs > decent articulation for cool poses > no stickers... just good ol' lego parts to "replicate" the flame motive on his truck body. My initial design for the shield was pretty elaborate but it failed the "wield test". The elbow joints can't take the load .. so I'm forced to simplify to what you see below, after reluctantly removing a dozen LEGO parts from my design: A few notable photos of the transformation: ^ The multi hinged panels allow for various ways on how the legs can be formed. I end up with the above where most of the mass delegated to the ankles and feet (I can choose to fold some panels above to form huge kneecaps but it won't look good). ^ Those pesky smokestacks took me many days to perfect to allow them to be folded to the back of the bot mode. ... and they follow the roof panels as they are lifted. Windscreen rotated 180 degree revealing the head underneath. He's ready to rage. Only after transformation to bot mode... the chest cavity is formed, but still not big enough to conceal that godamn pointy Matrix. However.... this Prime is bestowed with Matrix of Readership....an ancient cybertronian artifacts /e-book-of-some-sort that will bore the kids to death with bedtime stories. Warning: the following is NOT CANON: Here's something up his sleeve, literally! The smokestacks in many other Primes doesn't serve any purpose besides looking cool. As for my Prime here... his 'stacks can be folded up to form multi-barrelled surface to anywhere cannons..! At the same time.. since it's no longer 80's... his shoulder pads will tuck in nicely on his back awaiting the next time round when it become fashionable again. Boy I really love LEGO Mixel balljoints making this possible! I haven't watched TF5 yet when I posted this... I assume the following scene will happen (except intervention by another Prime of coz)? I've uploaded a bunch of photos in my blog links below. Do pay a visit inside to see more especially on detailed steps on his transformations. thanks guys! truck mode: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/06/lego-last-knight-optimus-prime-part-1.html bot mode photos: http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/06/lego-last-knight-optimus-prime-part-2.html bot in raging madness photos http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/06/lego-last-knight-optimus-prime-part-3.html
  12. Arcane arrives! This LEGO TF took me almost 2 months to complete .Arcane transform into a crane ,and *hic* ... a crane . The idea to make this guy came last year and it's been bugging me since , like a song that keeps repeating itself in my brain. I only managed to think of a name for him last week and to my suprise..... "Arcane" (despite being a pretty decent name for a Decepticon, on par with "Bludgeon" ) was NEVER used before in TF universe. Crane Mode My prerequisite for building this mode was that it should have basic functionalities of a typical mobile crane... the boom is able to be raised in excess of 60 degrees and full rotation of the crane using the 4x4 turntable plate. It's a pity LEGO has yet to produce a frictional turnable with maybe steps of 22.5 or 11.25 degree perhaps, as it would be very useful here for me. Crane Mode :D The slender legs of this bird are unable to sustain the weight of this MOC especially when the wings are spread further out. The tail helps alot here to ensure the following poses are possible: Robot Mode One of the last component to be built was the targetmaster chick. Before this I thought of making the weapon/gun to be concealed as extensions to the bird/crane's tail.... but then again buttmaster doesn't sound right. So it's scrapped. NO. Its not a partsformer . Transformation doesn't require parts to be taken off. I would say when it comes to building triple changer TF... Arcane is my tour-de-force. I am very satisfied with how the back kibble looks (thanks to the flexibility of crane neck allowing it to be tucked in fairly nicely on the robot mode's back) . Another thing I enjoy doing is "sculpting" a tight and lean abs for him. Drop by my blog to see more photos and how Arcane transform between modes! Thanks! =) http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/05/lego-triple-changer-arcane-part-3-of-3.html My days are numbered after this. So I instead of building unique LEGO TF from scratch.. I will be improving/upsizing my past LEGO triple changers .. starting with Springer & Broadside.
  13. Oh boy I'm glad I finally put a closure to this. As this MOC (and his accompanying subMOCs minions , Sixgun ,Scamper and Slammer) took me bout 3 months to complete. My Metroplex is an fairly articulated transformer ,turning into a mobile battle station and a base. MOBILE BATTLE STATION 8 wheels is not enough . I have to implement 2 more hidden wheels at the center of the vehicle for me to roll it back and forth without scraping the surface. One notable transformation step is 2 of the back wheels detaches and folded up to for the back mounted cannons in robot mode. ROBOT MODE BASE MODE The above shows how the chest unfolds to form the helipad, and the right arm is shifted to the back to form the tower. sixguns various components /guns can be connected to the base mode to weaponize it. For complete set of photos and also transformation steps , do check out my blog link below. thanks =) http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2015/08/lego-metroplex-part-1-of-3-mobile.html
  14. Sixgun was meant to be a complementary project for my upcoming LEGO Metroplex. But I kinda got carried away and spend almost a month just to focus on him. He is designed to be able to interface with Metroplex and his various modes. Initially I planned to release Metroplex with Sixguns (and other minions) in one shot, but I think Sixgun deserves a spot on his own here. I'm excited to complete my Metroplex this weekend .. so I won't be babbling many stuff here.. hope you guys enjoyed the photos....! 2 of the guns are modelled by my LEGO Blurr with modified hands (to peg properly to these guns) The red guns/legs took most of my design time. Hours before I finalize this guy for photoshoot... I redesigned these guns from scratch after a short relevation in the bathroom before (A better technique /implementation for the knee joint). These guns were made bulkier since they become the robot's legs. ROBOT MODE JET MODE Yes.... ! I love to improvise and see what extra things I can implement into my LEGO creations. It took me a while to make sure all the 6 weapons connected firmly in this jet mode, by retooling them. I have uploaded some photos in my blog entry below ,and show how these weapons combine as well: Alanyuppie's LEGO Transformers: LEGO Sixgun , minion of Metroplex Part 1 of 2: Weapons mode Alanyuppie's LEGO Transformers: LEGO Sixgun , minion of Metroplex Part 2 of 2: Combined modes Ok. .I'm off to complete my LEGO Metroplex hopefully by this weekend!
  15. Back in 2009 , I made LEGO Springer* (v1.00) and kept it displayed on my shelf till now. Recently I took some of my best LEGO Transformers creations to be exhibited in a local LEGO event, and cloned them to show all their modes . *Springer is a character from Transformers G1 cartoon series with the ability to convert into 2 alternate modes. I hastily spent 2 days to retool my LEGO Springer to be more stable (scaring minor tremors made from excited kids on the display table might topple my exhibits). I end up redesigning 50% of him from the waist down, making use of the stronger balljoint parts LEGO offered from recent years. I took the chance to improve his land vehicle mode to be sleeker too. So LEGO Springer v1.5 is finally born! The exhibition ended more than 3 weeks ago. Only recently I managed to sit down and find time to snap photos of him to be published online. Like most of my LEGO TF creations, Springer transforms between modes without the need to remove parts, and he is bestowed with fair amount of articulations too. For more photos, visit my blog entry below: Alanyuppie's LEGO Transformers: LEGO Springer v1.5 (updated with building instructions!) While I'm at it... I am in the mood to share the building instructions with you guys (link below) https://www.dropbox.com/s/m4ud2vzq9irl9pp/springer-instructions.pdf?dl=0 ps: I noticed the current upper body of this guy looks kinda dated . I might revisit this creation again and improve his upper body if time permits in the future (as a filler project coz 2015 will be my "year of the Transformers Combiner (MOC)" )

    [MOC] LEGO Beast Wars Dinobot

Wrapping up my latest MOC, Beast Wars Dinobot. This one is a commission piece requested by a fellow Transformers fan, based on this guy below: Since I prefer to build LEGO TF inspired from G1 Transformers series (mostly cars or mechanical-looking beasts/animals), this MOC is a slightly different ballgame since the mode is organic-looking. I'm glad I got enough right parts in brown and similar tones to pull this through. One of the advantages of building LEGO Transformers with beast mode is that the robot arms literally form themselves without complex transformation ... like this Dinobot (or G1 Grimlock) where the dino legs become the robot arms easily.. The raptor arms were the final components I built. Without knowing how they will blend in, in robot mode, I'm suprised they turn out to be one of my favorite design techniques in this MOC (besides the raptor head which took me a while to built). The original BW Dinobot toy is pretty simple actually so its not hard to improvise upon it. But I dislike partsforming in any form (huge chunk of tail becomes weapons, duh). I took BOTH liberties in replicating the tail-weapon thingy (its a commission piece anyway.. cannot detract too much from what's expected by the client) , and also continue my no-partsforming policy in designing (the tail can remain there in beast mode until it end up on the back of the robot mode when done transforming). Attempt to fulfil the latter compounded in extra 1 week of building efforts. I build the raptor arms without considering how they will blend into the robot mode. To my suprise... they blended/tucked in perfectly without any form of redesigning. How I wish the back could be the front/chest instead compared to a raptor head .. but this is a commission piece.. so I gotta stay true to the original BW Dinobot toy =) Without dismantling the raptor tail , transformation to robot mode will cause the tail to end up at the back , facing up. Dinobot once auditioned for 'V' but was rejected due to poor range (he don't have a human /Pretender mode) Visit my blog in my signature to view the transformation sequence and even more photos of this guy. =)
