  1. Hello everyone, this is my first participation in a challenge. The MOC is part of the dwarf quest - A: Ancestors and Heroes. Three dwarves are visiting the statue of famous Bofur Silveraxe. They pray for strength in the battles to come. (One of them is the commander of the attack boats I presented recently) This is also the first time I have tried some mosaic technique for the floor. This is why the result is so "modest" - other builders are already much more experienced in this sector. All the best for you for 2015! edit: Can someone correct the typo in the headline?

    MOC: Thráin

It's the time of the year when the bearded fellow in red clothes travels around the lands... But this time he has a warhammer instead of sack of presents and he shouts "Baruk Khazad! Khazad-Ai-Menu" instead of "ho ho ho"... This is based on the armor Thráin, father of Thorin Oakenshield, wears in the Battle of Azanulbizar near the gates of Moria. It is slightly seen in the extended cut of Desolation of Smaug. I'm very happy with the shaping of the armor - Had to buy a bunch of odd-shaped dark red parts on Bricklink before building... There are more photos on Cyclopic Bricks; Enjoy! And merry Christmas to everyone, and lots of rattling presents!
  3. Wyndor's Saga: See what happened prior to this: Returning Before leaving Dalig Ulv, Rothgar took time to visit the statue of The Laughing Dwarf found just outside Treacleheim. OoC: I really wanted to get a different feel for my statue than what had already been done. Let me know what you think of the result.
  4. Good evening! I am happy to announce that my project to build the company of Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit films. The project began 656 days ago in a land of which kind no longer exist in Middle-Earth when I posted bust of Balin in November 2012. It sort of grew into a full Balin, and got a brother Dwalin, and a cousin Oin, and some random Bifur guy... And well, I decided to build the dwarves, and then somebody asked (probably here on on EB) asked if I'd build Gandalf and Bilbo. And well, I did. You probably remember some of these MOCs (Kili even made it to the front page). The new ones here are Ori, Bilbo and Gandalf. Of course the story of the company doesn't end here. There will be conventions and exhibits to visit with these guys. There's heaps of more photos on my blog. Enjoy. At least I did enjoy building them!
  5. Long before the cities of men had sprung up across Historica, the dwarves had already begun to shape the world. Unable to resist the call of the ore from deep within the Mitgardian mountains, 4 of the most influential dwarvish clans claimed territories amidst its peaks, and an age of prosperity soon ensued amongst the dwarves. The oldest and wisest foresaw that all good things must come to an end, and in preparation built a watchtower with intentions of holding the pass to the Mitgardian mountains. And his wisdom proved prudent. The richness of the clans soon drew the attention of the wild orcs from the Western Orcish Marches. Attack after attack came, and while the individual orcish clans were always beaten back, he knew that it would be a matter of time before a shaman united the clans and with their combined might the tower would not hold. Calling upon the elders of the other dwarf clans, a plan was hatched to fortify the tower. Each of the 3 remaining clans sent their best masons and builders, and whatever else they could spare. Thus, Gathul Khazad, the fortress of the dwarves, was bricked. Banners were raised, with a simple embalm representing the four clans, and soldiers were sent to forswear loyalty to no individual clan, but for the greater good of Mitgardia. Each clan had built in their own unique style, but what emerged was a fortress capable of holding back the orcish clans. As the centuries passed, walls were damaged but never breached, and always repaired. As unrest grumbled in modern Mitgardia, the call to arms was made, and soldiers prepared to move out. No firm orders had been given, but it was rumored that they would be lead by the mysterious stranger who had traveled far to reach Gathul Khazad. Unusual it was, but the troops had been trained to obey, and if that was what the commanders had decreed, then it would be so. As they lined up to march, many glanced up at the stranger, who would spend a further 3 days in the fortress before making haste to catch up with the troops. Until then, Dorrim was in charge of marching the forces through the treacherous mountain paths. I initially built and finished this for the HoM Challenge, but real life happened and simply never had time to photograph anything. In building it I wanted to try out different towers mashed into one castle. It's also my first real big castle moc, and my first round tower as well. Also wanted to play around with using wargs as beasts of burden. Couldn't have done it without all the inspiration and insights gained from all the great builders here in GoH and Eurobricks in general, so thanks to all. Sigfig Nivre can be seen in the white hood, and there are a few more pictures on my Flickr stream. Comments and criticisms more than welcome as usual. Also - Tall dwarves. They're a thing now. Precedence set by Ecc, thanks bud.

    MOC: Fili

Here's the newest - and the second to last - dwarf on my Company of Thorin Oakenshield project (which was formerly called Hobbit Dwarves project, but I am going to build Gandalf and Bilbo too, so...). Fili is brother of Kili (who made it into Eurobricks front page - yeah!) and nephew of Thorin Oakenshield. This young dwarf was a fun build as I had had 1 three-week break from MOCing bacause my summer job in nothern Finland. I's especially pleased with the face, boots and scabbard strap (which uses cord piece from CMF fishing rod). The hair was challenging: The only medium dark flesh pieces used are Persian arches, 1x2 bricks and 1x2 tiles, somehow held together via half-pins and other SNOT magic connections. The heirs of Durin: Thorin, Fili and Kili. There's more photos on Brickshelf, more information on Cyclopic Bricks and an overview of this project on Flickr set. This is also my 500th post on Eurobricks! Who's the knigh now! To the heroic deeds----->! EDIT: The heroic deed was to change my name into Pate-keetongu, the name I use in the most parts of LEGO community, without interrupting admins. But deep inside I'm still a pig. Better be a pig than a fascist pig, as Porco Rosso famously said.

    MOC: Kili

Here's the newest dwarf on my series. Kili is one of the younger dwarves, brother of Fili and nephew of Thorin. He has only a stubble, which was quite hard to achieve with bricks. Young and handsome face is more challenging to build than caricature-esque heavy-bearded heads of some older dwarves of the gang. Kili has his dwarf sword (not very sharp here though) and a bow and quiver. The quiver's strap is done using TECHNIC chain links. Check Flickr and Cyclopic Bricks for more. You can see the rest of my dwarves here. Enjoy!
  8. Hello Once again an entry for the MELOs on MOCpages. My category was to interpret the following quote: “Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn!" I didn't want to build the hundredth Helm's Deep so i build the battle of Erebor from the Hobbit. There isn't an interpretation of Peter Jackson so far. That allowed me to build my own one. Highlight of building was definitely the dwarf monument. Explore more details on MOCpages! I hope you like it! Jonas

    MOC: Nori

Here's the next dwarf on my project - Nori, the thief. Nori was an average dwarf to build expect for the head and its odd starfish hairdo. I specially like how the eyebrows came out. The beard braids use minifig legs as the array of brown joint pieces is rather limited. More on Cyclopic Bricks, photo on Flickr. Hope you enjoyed! I guess Fili will be next, but it might take while since I'm running out of dark brown pieces!

    MOC: Glóin

Hello fellow Eurobrickers! Here's Glóin, son of Gróin, brother of Óin and father of Gilmi, the newest addition to my Hobbit dwarves MOC line! The beard was the first part I built, as usual. I threw it together on the last summer if I remember correctly. Designing the torso invoved both some basic and some more complicated SNOT techniques. Glóin has some packs and bags on his belt as he's the money behind the operation. The arms and hands are posable. The shoulders have ball joints while the elbow joints work with T-bars. The boots are rather simple, but I'm very happy with the round shape. Sons of Gróin. See more on Cyclopic Bricks and photos on Flickr. Feedback would be pleasant.
  11. This is by far my largest build yet. I have been working on it for a couple of months now and I'm really happy with how it turned out even though there are quite a few things i would do differently were I starting over. Sadly, my pictures stink. I really want to get pics I can be proud of before I deconstruct this thing so hopefully I'll get to update the pictures eventually. There are quite a few more pics of some of the details on my Flickr. As always C&C welcome! Khor found the queen of the snow elves surprisingly eager to throw her people's lot in with the dwarves'. In Mitgardia they had made a home they did not wish to leave behind but still in their art and songs it was clear the loss of their forsaken kingdom was keenly felt even by those whose time began long after its passing. He was invited to stay as the queen's guest for a few days while she sent word to friends in the west that might also be willing to take part. Of the five kingdoms approached, two sent a detachment back to offer their support and help plan the group's next step. Khor immediately instructed a messenger to make haste to Bâra-Kìr with instructions to prepare to welcome the elves in two days. This news was not well received but the king knew they would soon need allies and was determined not to let his people's stubborn predisposition jeopardize their best chance to stop the Drow threat. The following day was a flurry of activity as the dwarves prepared to welcome the unlikely guests into their ancient halls.

  13. Through great effort, the dwarves had learned that the Drow ambushes were being made possible by a crooked Kaliphlin merchant divulging trade routes and schedules but of far greater importance was what the Drow purposed to do with their dwarven prisoners. They were determined to set the dwarves to work tunneling through the ancient mountains and deep dwarven fortifications that had denied them access to the north for so long. There didn't seem to be anymore information to be gotten in Kaliphlin and they still knew far too little to wander blindly into Nocturnus so they turned back to the north. After a few days of traveling at a feverish pace back across the mountains, Khor found himself in the most unlikely of places; at the doorstep of the snow elves, doing something even more unlikely; asking for their help. He had nothing solid to show the Mitgardian authorities and aside form that, it was clear that the guild couldn't do anything that might risk open war so soon after such destruction as had been wrought by Victor. These elves of Mitgardia had been driven from their fair forests in the West by the Drow centuries ago. The Drow poured out from the earth, behind all of the elves' defenses, and razed their city to the ground. There were a few still living who remembered that night and their desperate flight to the north. Khor knew that they of all people would understand what was at stake and hoped he could gain their support. The elf guard on watch was cold and hostile; immediately drawing his bow and shouting at Khor not to take another step. Khor set his shield and flail in the snow and politely asked to speak with their queen. The guard made no move to oblige and still stood unblinking, ready to let his arrow fly for the slightest reason. Now Khor called out in a loud voice, "I seek urgent council with the queen!" Shortly, two more guards came outside to make sure it was safe and then beckoned to the queen. (I'll change this photo out for one with proper flags soon. I took on but it turned out really blurry. ) This is my first snowscape. I was getting impatient waiting on the large build I'm working on to wrap up and the new arches from the Council of Elrond set were just begging me to use them. C&C please!
  14. This is Khudrin the dwarf's little shop in Valholl. He makes both weapons and jewelry for the people of Mitgardia though his finest works are heirloom weapons commissioned by the great and powerful (and those who'd like to think themselves so). He is surprisingly patriotic for a dwarf; owing largely to the great amount of coin he has managed to make beneath the guild's bright banners. Even with as little crime as Valholl has, it is comforting to him to know that his shop lies directly beneath a post of the city guard. This is my first build for Mitgardia (of many to come!). Comments, criticism, carrots?
  15. I will trade for unwanted fleshies and those Gimli's that seem to breed like rabbits. Here's a quick summary of what else I'm wanting and what I have. I'm looking for a few figures from LOTR, Marvel and TMNT as well as quite a few minifigure accesories. I have a lot of figures from LOTR/Hobbit and CMF and a few from various other themes. If you are looking for parts, let me know what you need and I'll see if I can help. Questions are welcome here but PMs are preferred for working out a deal. Thanks for looking! Hello from Moria!

Hello from Moria!I'm Balin son of Fundin. We are in the process of colonising Moria! Athough some people say we are all going to die!But I do not believe them.
  17. When darkness sweeps across the land, Choking life with blight Come forth from fabled Angel's Peak A hero of the light. Born a mortal, child of dwarf, Clad in shining faith, With heaven's hosts by his side, He'll vanquish evil's wraiths. As foretold by the prophecy of old, Nivre was born a dwarf, but that remains all he knows of his heritage. Ever since he could remember, he'd been raised in Angel's Peak, a sacred temple of light hidden high in the mountains, mentored by 3 of the greatest paladins of the era. One night, he'd awoken having dreamt of wandering in a world shrouded in darkness. When he had told his mentors, they'd exchanged knowing looks and told him of the prophecy. Within a month, he'd made ready to leave Angel's Peak to seek out his destiny.. I've been a lurking in these forums for a long time, having only really gotten out of my dark ages not too long ago. I've been in awe of many of the awesome mocs i've seen here and I'd love to be part of it all. As it is, I'm still deciding on a guild to join, what's holding me back's a low brick count (what you see here is about 95% of my usable bricks as it is). This is also my first real moc (rainbow castles almost 20 years ago aside ).
  18. Hello While watching 'the Hobbit' in the cinema i had it in mind to build this iconic scene. Check out all details on MOCpages Hope you like the scene. Feel free to comment. Jonas
  19. I noticed a lot of people were listing their favorite dwarves in the main LotR/Hobbit thread. I figured it might be nice to have a separate thread to discuss which is your favorite, as well as have a poll to vote so we can see which is the most popular (could I a mod please add a poll with all 13 dwarves?).
