  1. The movie has so many flaws, but holy crap they did a great job making the rahkshi menacing. Thank you! I went outside and got a good picture of my kurahk in the snow I really want to get pictures of all my rahkshi out in their respective elements, but I need to wait for winter to end...
  2. So shapeways had a decent cyber monday sale, and a I grabbed a couple the G2 style Vahi's. I wanted one for a moc and wanted to see what worked best, and the thoguht of an upper half to the old mask was just fun. I'm putting pictures here so everyone can see whats out there and how well it works. I just had them all printed in orange smooth and polished, its close enough to lego's color #1 G2 compatible upper Mask of time (https://www.shapeways.com/product/2GH9GTYAQ/mask-of-time-gen-2-clip?optionId=60904349) (Image courtesy of biosector 1) Accurate to the comics, looks great from the front. Its pretty thick too, not any real risk of breakage Looks good on the head and fits well, eject feature works. This mask ONLY fits the G2 head. you can wedge the original mask into the slot by the mouth, but its not really designed to fit. Here's the issue. its totally flat. he's wearing a cardboard cut out. The lack of compatibility to the old mask is also a drawback, and the clip loosens pretty quick from use. To be fair, its only ever shown from the front in the comic. Overall, a good choice if you like accuracy and the eject feature, and I imagine it would look good in gold paint. a poor choice if you want the combined mask (just doesn't work) or a 3 dimensional design that looks good from every angle #2 G1 compatible g2 Mask of time (https://www.shapeways.com/product/SC3CX93N7/completed-mask-of-time-for-gen-one?optionId=61172468) From the same seller as before. Both halves are 3d printed, with the old vahi getting a long axle running through it to connect to the upper half and the old mata head. This one looks awesome combined and fits well. Its not a perfect fit on the head though, and doesn't fit the metru head (aka the best one) at all. there's some parts that rub against the mata head too, but it fits pretty well. you can also use the av-toran head, though again there are some parts that don't want to fit. The real issue is the axle on the lower half. Its a little bit too small. Unfortunately, this means you can't fit regular axles into the 'mouth' of the upper half to connect to a head, and the connection on the lower half by itself is very weak The mask looks pretty good from the side, without the clip, there is a smooth helmet at the top that makes the 'g2' half look and feel more 3 dimensional. Th 3d printed g1 vahi is pretty nice, only one or 2 things out of place (no mouth hole for example), it would be hard to tell them apart if it weren't for that texture. Basically, this one is a good choice if you want a neat looking mask with a solid combination. but its compatibility with actual lego is poor. So while its really cool looking, I'd wait and see if the artist updates it with a slightly thicker axle. The helmet at the top also keeps you from using the head you want. (the metru or G2 one) #3 G1 style Vahi upper half (https://www.shapeways.com/product/8L3Q9QPW6/vahi-mask-of-time-upper-half?optionId=61153284) The strangest, but, in my opinion, coolest option. This tiny piece rests on the top of a mata head... And is then held in place by the original vahi! Its a bit fiddly, but it stays on really well And looks awesome Look at how it lines up with the eye holes and 'bubbles' in the old mask. its pretty clever. Its also the cheapest option, since there is very little thickness to it looks good from the back too, a really well though out shape. Of course the drawback to this one is the compatibility. mata head only, absolutely no way to attach it to anything else. Its pretty close to the comic apearance but has no way to interact with the g2 head. #4 G2 head adaptor You can also just connect the original mask to a g2 head using this G2 adapter (https://www.shapeways.com/product/NBGJH9DEY/mask-adapter-round-hole-with-ejection-feature?optionId=60141695) These have been mentioned in the Shapeways MUP topic, and they work quite well; Though the vahi looks strange attached to it, you kind of have to blame the vahi's odd shape and small size for that The clip works perfectly. might wear out over time, but its the best fitting clip so far for a shapeways mask. The only drawback is that it only fits 2001-2002 masks, none of the axle mounted ones. Its available without the eject feature as well. So there are most of the current options for shapeways masks of time! I like the tiny G1 version the best, but they all are neat, fun designs. If anyone is in the market for a g2 mask of time, I hope this helps! Also, a special thanks to the shapeways sellers that made these masks. I will be using all of them for something.
  3. These are some mods to Exoforce set 7721-1, Combat crawler x2. This was a set almost no one bought, It was gappy, weird, hard to find, and expensive. I managed to get a sealed one for less than 30 dollars after the series was cancelled in 2009, and rather liked the idea of the model. All legs are now jointed, canopy added to the front for the main pilot. the cannon at the top has been adjusted to fit the gunner better, The middle pair of legs has been connected differently both to accomodate the joint an so they line up with the front and back pairs of legs. Extra armor has been added to the chasis as well, though its not too noticeable, this set was actually pretty beefy for an exoforce model Combat crawler now has a retractable frame on the front that covers the secondary cockpit. the connection between the 2 models has also been fixed so it doesn't fall apart from use. I love that it has stabilizers for its giant artillery piece. Added a roof to the prison so the pilot couldn't easily climb out The drone has a reasonably well defended seat up here. the controls were on the original set, but it only came with the 2 robots. Also, the original gun hinge caused it to smack the robot in the head if you decided to pivot it, and had an ugly connection with a bionicle piston The Viper x2 (as I so named it) recieved a lot of attention. It had a neat leg design, but the execution was really sloppy, Gaps have been filled in everywhere, and I added an actual cockpit. Feet were shortened I removed the technic plates on its legs to get rid of the holes, The connection on its back was heavily reinforced and can no longer slide off. All parts on the back have been swapped out for black, including the technic bushing. The Combat crawler showing off its rudimentary leg joints. Thanks for looking! any comments or feedback welcome.
  4. My most extensive Set modification ever, Mobile Devastator was modified over the course of about 3 years. The main goal was to fix the colors and add armor, the set was a good design to start with, despite the skeletal look. The review for the original set can be found here, By ReZourceman http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/9695-8108-mobile-devastator-picture-review/ The most noticeable change is the armor, The blasters on the back have been repositioned to clear the doors, the troop compartment doors have been raised and have the rubber bands removed. Much of the frame has been recolored to eliminate red, dark grey and yellow. Command Tower extends like before, Mecha One's cockpit has been filled in to eliminate gaps. The side armor can be seen clearly here, its connected with balljoint bricks and click hinges. The gun turrets are mounted on hinges on the sides so they can aim at something other than the wheels. The armor wraps around the front too. I was extremely thorough. Cockpits have been redone to support the pilots, and add armor. Controls were added to the front cockpit, along with a view screen The Detachable Venom Gliders have new designs that look the same but fit the whole robot instead of needing to detach the legs There is a hatch at the top, and a ladder that goes all the way down. The roof and floor are filled in as much as possible, it's pitch black inside The side doors open, allowing the troops inside to disembark. 3 extra Iron Drones have been added to the crew, The rack for the inactive drones has been redesigned with sturdy technic parts. Rockets flip up while the troops are deploying, providing cover fire while the interior is vulnerable. Gun rack was also redesigned, and the interior is wide open instead of a cluttered disaster The back armor plates flip open (for access). There is a single prison pod with 2 torture devices. the interior is decorated with vents and slopes carefully placed to eliminate gaps from the outside when its closed. This picture is fuzzy, sorry. It just shows the ladder leading up to the hatch at the top. And that is my second biggest Lego project! (first is Eclipse http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/140733-moc-ufo-flagship-eclipse-picture-heavy/) Blazing Falcon was also modified, will post it later... Thank you for looking, any feedback is welcome!

    8108 Mobile Devastator Mod (Exoforce)

Okay, here's the Blazing Falcon (The extremely crappy orange and white pile of parts you get with the mobile devastator) I removed a lot of unnecessary colors, stripped most dark gray, light gray and black, and got rid of the stupid engine blocks and clips everywhere. ugly ehlek claws were replaced with Inika Claws, and armor was reinforced and smoothed down Thrusters were moved to the back, leg armor was redesigned. The feet were stripped down as well, The biggest change, though, is the cockpit being replaced with the shorter canopy piece, and the torso being shortened to fit it. no more horrendous gaps! I mean, there's still a gap, but you can't fit a robot minifigure through it anymore I've gone from hating this model to loving it. It took a lot of work to get it looking nice.
  6. That looks like GW auric gold, its a perfect match to lego gold. And yeah, the 2 main ones I bought are very flat and 1 dimensional, If I had known cyberhand was making one, I would have waited and bought that. PrimoUltimo, What color did you print that in? is it the regular plastic or hi-def achryllic?
  7. Yeah, Thanks! This guy's color scheme and parts came together really well.
  8. Thank you! I really wanted some intimidating bad guys for the toa to fight. The rahkshi were some of my favorites from G1
  9. Of course not! That mask is awesome, the paint job looks great! So the old vahi just fits on?
  10. They had a Cyber Monday sale. I got a bunch of masks for about 30% off. It really depends on how much material and what kind, but yeah, shapeways can be expensive. the little tiny one that fits under the old mask is light and thin, cost about 8 I think, the Other 2 were 10 and 15.
  11. I came up with the idea for this character while brainstorming Ideas for continuing bionicles story. Velika in G1 was a great being that chose to stay in the matoran universe to keep an eye on things in the guise of a humble matoran. He was rather sinister it turns out, and I liked the idea of a morally ambiguous character training Makuta and ekimu. based on the mask maker/protector build, but taller with longer limbs. Uses a shapeways mask in addition to the original mask of time. Velika gave Makuta the mask of control to curb his ambition, and Ekimu the mask of creation to boost his creativity. Thus, the masks weren't bestowed to his favorites, but to compensate for his students flaws. The figure is pretty well balanced despite the odd proportions. That hammer turned out beautifully, took longer to design than anything else. The right shoulder is geared. Facing off against his one-time student. There's a 3dprinted mask adaptor on his back to allow the old vahi to be used by the other characters. I will be changing the eye color to light trans-blue as well, waiting on the eyepiece and head. Thanks for looking! Hes a fairly simple moc, but it has a lot of personality. The shapeways mask makes a big difference too, gives him a really unique head. You can find it here; https://www.shapeways.com/product/8L3Q9QPW6/vahi-mask-of-time-upper-half?optionId=61153284

    Velika, Master of Time

I used the tiny double socket piece, the ball with the axle hole all the way through, and these 2 pieces; https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=24316&name=Technic, Axle 3 with Stop&category=[Technic, Axle]#T=C https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=22961&name=Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Hub with 1 Axle&category=[Technic, Connector]#T=C

    Bionicle 2016 Sets Discussion

Toysrus has all bionicle on sale for 30% off this monday! http://www.toysrus.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=137674nov16&keywords=137674nov16&origkw=137674nov16&sr=1&ppg=96&camp=CME:TRU:EM112616C_TRUBRUCyberWeekStartsV1Reblast&csep=2999846c-6030-4362-990d-6f1f243da1e4&dtm_em=702d641b4b94548cdd7ca75698d1c7b4 If you don't have all the sets, good time to grab them. They also price match, My local TRU is trying to sell Ekimu for 25. I showed them a link to the set on SEARS website and got it for 15.
  14. That's a fair criticism, they like to tip over a lot, though its more due to the weight on the ankles. What part would you suggest? anyway, thanks for the feedback!
  15. A project of three years or so (not continuous), this ship has gone from average size to just under three feet. The UFO series was one of my favorites growing up, so after going through my old legos and putting the sets back together, I started building this monstrosity. It breaks apart into 23 different pieces, many of which are designed to function indepedently, and all parts are modular. The Ship has electronics integrated in the middle, with a 9 volt motor, a 9 volt battery box, the old fiber optic assembly, and the double flashing light brick. It has a crew of 13, 1 of each classic alien, 3 of each robot, and 4 custom figures. There's also a pile of weapons, all stored on the ship in various places. r. If anyone is interested, I will post more pictures, as there are a lot of details packed into each part of this model, and I didn't want to flood the topic in pictures

    Shapeways MOUP

I just ordered the mask of time from this guy (https://www.shapeways.com/product/2GH9GTYAQ/mask-of-time-gen-2-clip?optionId=60904349&li=ostatus). Its flatter than I would like, but if everything fits well, it'll be a good mask for the character I want to build. I'll post pictures once it arrives.

    Exoforce Sledgehammer

You can probably guess which side I favored at this point, I generally like bad guys more, plus the robots were so cool. This Mech was designed for Mecha One's second in command, who I never got around to naming. Like just about everything I build, It has lots of armor and lots of guns, but the cockpit on this one is especially cool, plus it has an epic feature built into its feet. I also used carefully trimmed stickers to add detail so it fit the theme better. Meet the sledgehammer; The cockpit is a 2 part design, with the canopy flipping up first, followed by the frame. Th side view shows just how bulky it is, plus a good look at the stickers I put on its arms and wristblades The main feature, of course, is the feet can fold up and it can roll on wheels. The thrusters on the legs are just there for extra speed, not flight. It obviously can't balance on its own in this configuration, but it rolls really well. The trick of course, is that most pilots wouldn't expect such a bulky battle machine to move so fast, causing them to underestimate it. Thanks for looking!

    Exoforce Shadow Stalker

The Bridgewalker (7713) is still one of my favorite lego sets ever. I really wanted another mech in that style, and after 3 tries, finally came up with a design that looked good. Amusingly, It uses parts from 3 earlier mocs. The Mech is very streamlined compared to the brigdewalker and only requires a single pilot. Its a little bit bigger than a Golden Guardian. I designed it with the jungle mission in mind, but it doesn't have a minibot (too hard to integrate without looking weird) Its a powerful search and destroy mecha, with advanced scanning equipment and powerful weaponry. The tubes thread through the entire torso, and add to the alien look the mech has. The legs are very sturdy but with extremely limited movement, Chicken legs are really hard on knee joints it turns out, and this thing is heavy. This cockpit (with a few modifications) has been used on 3 different mocs. I like to recycle good designs whenever possible. The head is well armored and covers most of the pilot. The laser cannon was lifted from another mech as well, I used the old chrome light cover as an emitter. The minigun spins, I used a rod instead of an axle to attach it. Here it is facing off with Hitomi's new battle machine, Shadow Hawk.

    Exoforce Dark Sentinal

I've been meaning to post my old exoforce stuff here literally since the theme was still around in stores. This is my favorite Moc, Dark Sentinal. It borrows Alien avengers Giant laser cannons on its shoulders, and insanely heavy armor. Its literally covered in weapons. The design was inspired by this silly (but awesome) thing; http://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/exofarce/images/d/d5/Obliterating_overlord.png/revision/latest?cb=20100602212643 It's basically a practical superweapon for Mecha One. Rather than having a giant battle station with an obvious weakspot, he went for a Supernova-sized design with impenetrable armor and heavy weapons. All made possible from stealing golden city tech. Top view better shows off the awesome shape and style. I disliked that all the robot mechs were basically animals in the last year of exoforce, so I went with something powerful and high tech. My spray painted iron drone Mecha One sits in the cockpit. there are 3 printed control panels inside, its quite roomy I used a castle turret to create the shape of the torso. Did not have enough angled bricks otherwise... The back is also heavily armored, and almost entirely done with regular bricks. The gun's barrel can swing down to reveal a functioning blunt shooter. Thanks for looking! I'll be posting a lot more exoforce stuff soon.

Moc: UFO flagship, Eclipse (picture heavy)

Thank you! Its the blacktron style torso form space police 3. Here are some interior shots, along with some details on the electronics Storage modules Warp core fiber optics and lights Mothership twin cockpits and interior. There's little ladders leading down from the cockpits to the bridge, top is held on with magnets rather than using a hinge. And the cockpit detailing in the emperor's personal fighter.
  21. I decided to do a new Ekimu model for my bionicle 2017 project, with a bit more of a takanuva vibe to it. It ended up being way too close to the 2016 set, but it has some really neat details. And I'm going to modify the legs as soon as I do another bricklink order. He uses his protector mask since Makuta destroyed the mask of creation in their last battle. his warhammer was also broken, so he crafted a new staff weapon. The staff is styled heavily off takanuva's staff in the mask of light film. it has a sleek, simple look to it. Rather than kill his brother, makuta destroyed his mask and scratched out the mask maker symbol on Ekimu's chest. I used a silver sticker that I cut for this. One of the cool things about the torso is the chain and rope I added to justify the really out of place looking belt print on his left shoulder. this is more visible from the back but it lines up really well. The gearbox is not functional, I used it to spread the shoulders out and store weapons. Ekimu still has his crafting hammer and saw shield. A disk of spare ammo is on the back under the shield The hammer can be flipped forward like a cannon. As a bonus, here is a kraata containment cell I designed. Its simple but cool looking. One of my spare shadow kraata lives here now. I'm still not happy about how close he is to 2016 ekimu, so an suggestions would be appreciated. I'm thinking of giving him the double sided leg armor that the master kopaka set had, with uniter armor on the upper legs or starters.

    Rahi Collecting Questions

Manas motors are kinda iffy, but they should last a while if your nice to them. Those old rubber bands are bad though, crumble away after about a year of use.

    Rahi Collecting Questions

Absolutely bricklink the 2002 master builder set, Its expensive. The Nui Ramu are a good start, tarakava are probably my favorite. Been a long time since I looked at prices though, I completed my rahi back in 2010 when bionicle was cancelled the first time.

    Shapeways MOUP

No, its fine. This is a purple smooth and polished, but no point in getting polished colors if your going to paint over it. The texture isn't very different, its not actually much smoother

    Shapeways MOUP

I'll probably grab one too. The hi-def stuff looks sweet. One mask to rule them all...
