  1. The 7th and last rahkshi for my bionicle 2017 project, Spectrahk probably ended up with the best color schemes. I wanted a spooky, glowing look to it, as befitting something that can float through walls. The blades on the staff are really sleek and thin compared to my other rahkshi. It has the same features as the others, flight mode, G1 kraata, swiveling waist, and adjustable staff. The staff blades are a bit wobbly due to the build. I liked the look of them too much to change it though. The staff is actually modeled to look like the one on my G1 spectrahk, which used the old vladek swords And with that, rahkshi project 2016 is finished. Here is a group shot of Makuta with his sons; forgot to use the flash for that last one... As always, comments and feedback welcome! Thanks for looking!
  2. The 6th rahkshi in my group, Gurahk ended up with a really neat color scheme. Transparent orange felt like a good fit for the disintegration power. I also designed the staff to be reminiscent of the original gurahk's staff. It has lasers embedded in the center. The flight mode looks really good on this one. Rahkshi project 2016 nears completion, here's what I have so far for the last one, Spectrahk; As soon as he's done, I'll take some group shots. Thanks for looking!
  3. One of 3 g2 rahkshi I've been working on, This one is based on the old rahkshi of chain lightning, which sadly never had a story role but did officially exist. This model has a swiveling waist, functional kraata compartment, a flight mode, and mean looking staff that can split in half to form swords. There's a stage 1 chain lightning kraata in its back. I'm almost done with a Vorahk and just started making a Turahk. might do a gravity rahkshi too, it had blue and silver colors, and I have a spare dark blue head. Also, does anyone know how to embed pictures without them being giant?

    Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion

some break, some don't, most g1 joints were fine up until they introduced the longer double socket with the visorak. My 2008 takanuva's joints are still undamaged, my toa Ignika went through 3 sets of joints before I gave up and gave him the older style. 2007-2009 was the worst of it.

    Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion

The only ccbs I've ever had break was a joint that was strained from being stored badly, and I have every Hero factory and G2 bionicle set. But late Bionicle G1 sets snapped as you put them together... The joints were too thin on the sides and the material was too brittle

    Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion

I like them both, but I love not having joints break left an d right with ccbs. ccbs is a little more user friendly, but doesn't look as unique. I hope future lines use a blend of ccbs' versatility with bionicle's personality.

    Future of constraction

yeah, marketing was a big part of g1's success. G2 was a confusing mess, marketing was sparse and aimed at adults while story and content was made (poorly) for kids. The action figure market has kind of died down in general, so getting a new theme of the ground is actually a risky investment. even the star wars constraction is selling poorly in my area. I collect other action figures as well, and I've watched as the shelf space for them has gone from entire aisles to tiny strips hidden off to the side.Lego also barely marketed the last year of hero factory despite a radical change in play style, which in part led to bad sales. As someone responsible for ordering and stocking, I remove things from my set that don't move (I manage a dairy). So bionicle G2 comes on the scene, and no one wants to carry it because of all the slow moving hero factory sets from the year before. Unfortunately, a new theme within the next year or two would likely have exactly the same problem from retail. Lego needs to wait, and come back with a theme they're willing to actually market, after retailers forget about that one lego line that didn't sell.

    Makuta Master of Shadows

Clever foot design, and nice hammer. If there was one good thing that came out of g2's cancellation, It was the fantastic makuta mocs it gave rise to.
  9. Thanks! I need to stop being lazy and take some more outdoor shots. They're really fun to do

    [MOC] Poison Beast (G2 Lerahk)

See! Someone else used tiny feet for a rahkshi model! Vindicated! Lol. Nice build, simple and clean, fits g2 style. Your head build is weird but works well for a rahkshi.

    Kanohi masks on Amazon UK

Also depends on the specific mask. early mask pack kanohi are pretty common, masks included with smaller sets are common. Later masks like the Nuva are a little harder to find, the silver Nuva masks are almost impossible to find. Buying a lot is probably the way to go, I got half my g1 mask collection knocked out by buying a lot with about 30 masks and the old toysrus collector book.

    Kanohi masks on Amazon UK

Probably one of the hardest ways to get masks... and probably more expensive than bricklink and ebay. Sorry, not very helpful. Which masks are you looking for?
  13. I wish I had a pearl gold kraahkan, but sadly that Alternate universe teridax contest happened and an already rare mask became disgustingly expensive. same with the mask of life. Ah well, there's always auric gold...
  14. its a paint designed to be used as a layer, so it works best if you spray paint the mask gold first. this will further help smooth it down too.
  15. Awesome. I need to get some more shapeways masks, been meaning to get the higher res achryllic MoUP and cyberhands mask of Time. They look so good in auric gold

    [MOC] Hot Springs Keeper

Nice, Love seeing a straightforward G1 style moc that isn't an overly complicated mass of parts. Reminds me of the Toa Kaita. Use of the hockey torso piece is impressive too. I'm not a huge fan of the split color scheme, but I can tell that was a deliberate choice. Good work!
  17. Thank you! The frame I came up with is pretty flexible, I'd do more but I got sick of ordering the CCBS ballsocket in trans orange... Anyway, was at the park during a rainstorm the other day (no one there to see some weirdo taking pictures of legos) and got some awesome photos. I've been trying to do this with each of my bionicle mocs, I was inspired by the cool art in the G1 instructions and packaging. The dim lighting made Gurahk look really menacing. A fun shot of Gali vs Gurahk Precariously balanced The rahkshi of gravity on a fallen tree trunk And an exceptionally cool flight picture. Also, The only justification I have for the tiny feet, they interlock with the head.

    Bohrok done right.

I like the shape and proportions, color is pretty good too.The regular hands are throwing me off though, Maybe try using the hero factory 2.0 shield piece, its nice and modular for different functions
  19. Everything looks pretty straightforward, except that torso. I bet it uses the Bohrok head frame, rather than the toa or bohrok torso parts.

Do you like voices in Bionicle movies?

Honestly, hard to say, they got makuta's voice down, but I disliked the matoran sounding like children, and the toa were hit and miss. I think the movies got batter as they went on though, the only voice acting I couldn't stand from the last one was kiina. So I think there's good and bad in all of them.

Where does the Copper Akaku come from?

Isn't that a komau? Akaku was kopaka's mask with the eyepiece. Either way, its one of the only masks missing from my collection due to the painfully high price, even 5 years ago I couldn't find one for less than 40

    Dinoponera gigantea

Awesome use of the Movie kraahkan, Lots of clever techniques here,
  23. Thank you! My goal was to make them look like sets, and I'm not a big fan of the huge complicated look. If my mocs are tied to a certain theme, I like to keep the general look of that theme as much as possible. @shakar; completely forgot about those parts, stars foot was pretty good. thought about the metru foot or the 1.0 hero foot too. I'll dig some stars feet out and give it a try.
  24. Did some photos up in the canyon today, with Voltrahk and Pohatu. Also just realized the powerlines in the first one, oh well. Note that I replaced my pohatu's awkward staff with a pair of nifty hooked weapons, so he can rock climb like Pohatu Nuva could. Didn't help him much though
  25. I kept finding mostly complete rahkshi at thrift stores, and started looking for things to do with them. I eventually realized that Greg Farshtey's Kraata chart included a number of color combos that could actually be done. after figuring out which kraata was which, I built this army. All the wild Rahkshi that can physically be built. (and heat vision rahkshi) no painted parts, custom parts, or pieces that deviate from the original rahkshi build (except heat vision rahkshi). Each rahkshi has the correct kraata, and canonical colors. (except fire resistance rahkshi). between the 12 of them, each original rahkshi spine is used twice, with a unique staff for each one. Genrahk, Quick heal rahkshi Cryorahk, Stasis field rahkshi Agirak, Dodge rahkshi Cerahk, Fire resistant rahkshi (should be turquoise, but no rahkshi parts in that color and it seemed a shame to waste an all dark green set of rahkshi parts) Transrahk, teleportation Rahkshi Thermrahk, heat vision Rahkshi. Trimmed head for mobility, and obviously a moc instead of a color swapped rahkshi. Voltrahk, Electricity Botarahk, Plant control Rahkshi Spectrahk, Density control Rahkshi Typhrahk, Cyclone Rahkshi Umbrahk, darkness rahkshi My favorite, Thorahk, Chain Lightning rahkshi Group shot with the original 6 rahkshi. Sadly because of the way the wild kraata chart is written, a lot of these are just color swapped between 2 rahkshi. I tried to make them distinct with my staff and spine choices, and managed to do a few solid color ones. Thanks for looking, apologies for the long post
