[MOC] HMS Midway

Recommended Posts

I don't build boats often for the Governors, or Blue Coats if you prefer, but I do on occasion. I actually built this last year, but only just got around to taking photos.

It may be one of my best builds yet, it certainly feels like it to me. I am annoyed at that fact, because it is a governor ship. They are easily the third, maybe the fourth favorite faction of mine. Imperials and Pirates being the top two (Not necessarily in that order) and the Governors and Armada vie for third place.

Tell me what you think!

That's really nice!  Nothing too complex, just a simple, elegant build.

I think you made your best build for the bluecoats because deep down in your subconscious, you know they're the best faction :-)

Or "Soldiers" if you're from the UK and it's former colonies... :pir-grin:

It looks good. The hull, bow, stern and rigging are well built.

Well I'm from Canada, so, yes on the former British Colony thing?

* Former British colonies outside North America.

Not sure about the Caribbean Island nations... or Asia... or even South Africa.

Hmmm... on retrospect, I didn't think that comment through.

Nicely done. I like how you created the hull shaping by offsetting the hull design by a plate at a time. What's the significance of the wizard hat for the bowsprit?

It was blue? That's about it.

Now, that's what I meant to comment on before I got caught up being a smart arse... then ended up a dumb arse. :pir_wacko:

The way hull is constructed gives the vessel some character.

I love this build. Very nostalgic. You really catched the spirit of the old Lego Pirate series and enhanced it. The ropes add much to the overall appearance.

Anything Bluecoats related always gets my interest. This is a lovely ship with some great shaping and coloring! Interesting way to close up the ports on the hull pieces, I don't believe I've seen that done before.

When I was a kid, they were called "soldiers".  (I live in the US)

It looks fabulous — no idea how realistic it is but the colour scheme looks nice and fanciful. I especially like the integration of the blue and yellow in the structure and windows of the aftercastle.
