It could replace the sail barge at around that price point since it's retiring this year. It's probably the most due for a remake as far as big sets from ANH go. I think a UCS Tie Advanced is also likely for the may 4th set. More like $40 set . The original would be around $10 adjusted for inflation and Lego definitely wouldn't make a model that basic these days. Those would make sense- though personally I would want the Tantive IV to be $500-700, just a huge model for ANH's 50th given it's the first ship we ever see onscreen. They could downsize a bit- the escape pod is a set that makes sense to be as small as possible, and if they use those 3x6 half-cone pieces they could definitely pull off a $10 price point set with modern era design schema that could fit the two droids. 1 hour ago, BrickBob Studpants said: EXACTLY. I didn’t dislike any of the shows, but 3 seasons of Mando, 2 seasons of Andor and Ahsoka, plus TBoBF, SC, Kenobi, The Acolyte, and all the animated shows and miniseries were a bit much for a relatively short time period. They overdid it with the streaming content, and Marvel is even worse Granted, I liked all of the SW shows way more than most of the Marvel ones, but it was still overkill. I think they learned their lesson since the 2028 slate is still empty. And your perspective is someone who DIDN'T dislike any of the shows. From my perspective, while Andor was good, S1+2 of Mando were good (but S3 totally dropped the ball- why was the retaking of mandalore- something that feels like it could be the finale of the entire series- not the movie?), but the rest were generally very controversially received. I liked Ahsoka but a lot of people didn't. TBoBF and Kenobi both had some major out-of-character or canon-stretching plotlines. Skeleton Crew was fine, but nobody's going to remember it. And Lucasfilm WISHES nobody would remember Acolyte. From a level of how many things are coming out, it may seem like this era has the most content, but from a certain point of view that's not even accurate- plenty of the disney+ years are beaten in runtime by, like, a season of TCW. If Mando had 20-episode seasons that kept people subscribed for longer than a month, disney would be raking in the same amount of money as these random miniseries drops, so it's not even a financial thing. But they've pumped out so much sludge over the past 7 years that they've diluted the feeling that star wars is special. It's also part of what's kneecapping TMAG's box-office projections- sure, this is the first new theatrical movie in 7 years... but we've seen live action star wars as recently as last year. Mando and Grogu themselves are so saturated in the popular culture that the movie doesn't feel special or new. I've said in the past things like TMAG or Starfighter are necessary to try and claw a bit of goodwill back before swinging for the fences, but now I wonder if a full-stop in the live action department would have been better. Especially if they've got MSL on the animation side to keep fans happy and disney+ subscriptions paid. Edited May 13 by Mandalorianknight Quote
BrickPrick Posted May 13 Posted May 13 (edited) The Cad found a new home. That's three Bane's down, one to go! Pretty good condition for being used and potentially thirteen years old. Though I do despise it when minifigs come with their parts assembled. At least give me the illusion of a fresh building process. Anyways, with how predictable the Lego Star Wars theme can get nowadays, having recently watched several reviews of the new Razor Crest, do you guys sometimes think you're watching this stuff just for completion's sake at this point? Like these reviews, fairly measured and finely put together by any stretch of the imagination, don't tell me anything I absolutely didn't expect beforehand. It's obviously a significantly smaller model now with very limited interior space. It's very well designed and super sturdy. The minifigs deliver that one trademark highlight you wanna consider buying this set for. The price is very steep and demands the usual discounts. The same procedure as nearly every modern downscaled set, I guess. Edited May 14 by BrickPrick Quote

Ideally it'd cost $10 but realistically a downscaled escape pod would probably still cost $20. 15 minutes ago, BrickPrick said: The Cad found a new home. That's three Bane's down, one to go! People are now used to cinematic, serialised shows on par with movies in terms of effects, costumes, and so on. I doubt most people would sacrifice that for more and faster-produced episodes Quote

Mando being Mando might not be the best indication of that. Will they treat it like any of the Disney Movies from last decade with multiple waves or more like a regular Disney+ Show with coverage of just two to three sets and that's basically it? I wouldn't exactly be shocked if it's the latter. I know this isn't a bold prediction at all, but I feel they'll definitely do a bigger wave than they typically do for a TV show. Starfighter is primed to be wayyyy more popular than anything they've done since Mando, and even if it does just fine for a movie, it'll still have way more eyes on it than almost all the Disney+ shows. A wave on the scale of the sequel ones seems unlikely but I think 6 sets would be very reasonable (plus maybe one or two spoiler sets later on). 11 hours ago, Kaijumeister said: Also, I doubt we’ll get Shadow Lord sets next year. If Lego decide to make them in response to the show’s popularity, then factoring in the development cycle for an average set means there’s no way we’ll see anything until winter 2028 probably. Otherwise I can’t imagine why they’d choose not to strike while the iron was hot with the show actually being released. Agreed, and if they're waiting that long then they may as well just have it (maybeeee "them") tie in with season 2. Probably not what most people want but that just seems way more realistic then them waiting until to cover season 1 until it's two years in the rear-view mirror. Quote

I know not to expect 23 episodes but even the HBO standard of like 13 episodes a year seems to have gone as well. Game of thrones managed to do it for 6 seasons. Do expect some P2 clones to come back at some point now the AT-TE is retiring they can do the Utapau, the kashykk at some point but more desperate for something imperial. Hoping with mando film and Ashoka S2 we get the remnant BP. watched a few promos for the Mando film now latest one has Sigourney Weaver sending them out to look for a a generic Imperial. Sounding like without spoilers they might be the actual big bad of the film which again could mean more sets for the future. I feel like I’m the only one excited for the Mando movie everywhere else I see and read people are just so negative about it already. Quote

Things like HOTD’s 2 year intervals I can understand as it’s more CGI heavy. But the best part of 4 years to wait is just crazy. Even Andor (2.5-3 years) had the excuse of 12 hour long episodes and the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Ahsoka is 8 45-55 minute episodes at best. BrickBob Studpants Posted May 14 Posted May 14 I wouldn’t overthink the villain “issue” for the film Yes, it’s a bit strange we still don’t know who the main villain will be since Embo seems more like an antagonist rather than a villain, but there might be a good reason for that! The villains in SW always have great appeal and usually end up as fan-favourites, but there’s no reason to assume this won’t be the case for M&G Quote

Assumably this set would throw some on like the previous escape pods Hide contents Not any less complex than the other $10 licensed sets we've been seeing. It does contain two large panels, but also 10 fewer pieces than the Mando speeder and no cloth. (And if you consider the two large panels too basic, I'd point out that the last escape pod similarly used 4 of them for the main body, and that the $10 sets tend to be pretty basic- the technique I use her to flip stud direction even be a bit too complex.) This looks pretty great for a potential $10 set, nice job! I don't know how willing Lego is to actually put these kinds of sets out (I suppose time will tell if the Mando speeder was a one-off) but I feel like they're more important now than ever if Lego wants to keep kids interested in Lego. Also would just be nice to have a cheap set with both of them. If I'm not mistaken, the last time C-3PO appeared in a set under $50 was the 2022 advent calendar, and before that it was the 2020 landspeeder. Quote

They’re mostly very mixed and with some saying it’s ‘fun.’ Which in itself is decent but I fear the fact that this sounds very similar to how Love and Thunder was received at its premiere. Some people won’t want to dunk on the film out of fear of not getting invited to the next one. If the influencer-types pre-selected for that type of screening aren't psyched then we're in trouble. Hoping to part out my old 7675 AT-TE this weekend. It's the one I've been dreading/fearing. Probably my favorite set that I've ever owned. I'm gonna be super sad if I'm missing any difficult-to-get pieces. I do have Rotta still. So I'm the real M&G fan. Quote

You don’t mean that Smart Play was completely unnecessary and the answer to the growing youth deficit is just making more prices and characters accessible to kids? No way! 34 minutes ago, RyansRebuid said: I do have Rotta still. So I'm the real M&G fan. But is he stinky? Quote

The interior is also a bit small for my liking, the old ones had room for control panels and stuff and the droids could sit down. Still though I guess this proves they could make it $10 if they really wanted to. Mando's speeder had 2 figures and a cloth cape, is the only thing- we obviously don't know exactly how much stickers count for in a set, but I doubt it's enough to bring the price up $5. And yes, obviously the interior is pretty small- although like I said it was a first draft, I have figured out that making C-3PO sit down actually gets you enough room to put a little bit of controls in- but that's the comprise for the $10 set, which was what I was trying to show off. Lego doesn't really do non-gimmick sets under $30 anymore- with the exception of the $10 price point opening up, hence why I think they could throw this in next year. 12 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Either he or Ward will be revealed to be the real Gideon in a mask. I wouldn’t consider Dryden Vos, Reva or Morgan Elsbeth to be fan favourites. I can’t even remember who exactly the big bad in TBoBF was supposed to be. Was it Cad Bane? The Pykes? The Lannister Hutts? The bikers? Disney’s need for Grogu merch? The villains in that series were all over the place and they randomly chucked in Cad Bane at the end of the penultimate episode? I fear the fact that this sounds very similar to how Love and Thunder was received at its premiere. Some people won’t want to dunk on the film out of fear of not getting invited to the next one. I honestly wouldn't mind that (obviously not literally, but I'm totally fine with them bringing Gideon back. I made an outline for S4 YEARS ago that was basically "Gideon used the "retaking of mandalore" to make the NR think he was gone for good, gather all the mandalorians in one place, and extricate himself from the ineffective shadow council so he could secretly ally with a Thrawn interested in eliminating his imperial opponents. Thrawn makes Gideon a major player in the Spaarti program, and Gideon- due to his obsession with mandalore- wants to make mandalorian clones and be based out of that system, leading to an actual full-scale war for mandalore wherin Din has to go around recruiting people like Sabine, Fenn Rau, Boba, etc, proving himself as a leader.") Elsbeth wasn't great but I'd also consider Baylan, Shin, and Thrawn all excellent, so I think Ahsoka did just fine antagonist wise. If anything they did a better job with the antagonists than protagonists. But yeah, Dryden wasn't great, and that led to solo doing poorly. Reva was extremely poorly received, and while the fact that Obi-Wan and Vader bash eachother with laser swords a few times had the general audience pogging, I think she still contributed heavily to the show being so controversial. TBoBF similarly struggled from the lack of a set villain- Cad was cool but he's in like 1.2 episodes. Yes. The early reactions are always much more positive than the reception the film ends up getting, so the fact that they're this middling already is really concerning. 7 hours ago, BrickPrick said: That's a great recent example. These LOTR sets are very appealing to me. But for reasons you already stated, I'm aware I will probably never own any of them. Yet I still want to see everything they have to offer and hear people's thoughts on those. Yeah, I wonder if this ends up being a "it's fun, but why wasn't this another Season" kind of movie. And if you actually can tell this movie was pulled from a previously planned TV show and stitched together for a two hour+ runtime. Uh-oh... that sounds rather terrible, if you ask me. That comes across as "trying to be nice" to a movie that you may left unimpressed. Yup. It's nice to live through the reviewer sometimes and see everything about the set. Some of the reactions I've seen- even the ones saying it's "fun" - are saying it's pretty obviously two episodes of the show stiched together, which is not good news. 3 hours ago, Meaf said: Not really related to your point but these names are so funny to me. I think at the time they were coined we didn't have official names, but I believe Officer Bald is now Janu Coin (Which if anything is more evidence he won't be a particularly important character given it's just the name of his actor Johnny Coyne starwarsified). I can't remember if general beard has a name yet. Thank you! He was in the 2025 calendar as well, but yes, a cheap set to fit the two droids would be nice. 3 hours ago, CloneCommando99 said: Space Watson! Gilad Pellaeon? Quote

A Starfighter Duel Pack for the NR vs Thrawn conflict (NR A-Wing vs TIE Defender with Thrawn, Enoch, Ezra and Hera?), a Peridia set with the titular character and maybe a NR vs Empire BP. You forgot to mention something really important. HERETIC!/s (Day #383) Given how crammed next year will be, I'd bet on two sets for Ahsoka S2 at most. I wouldn't complain if we got more though, as long as they don't just ignore the show. Heretic indeed! But alas we have friends everywhere. If they do it, it's only because of Eurobricks. Yep, that's what I meant - the original list released in January. Haha, true enough. I think they're capable of good ideas but those tend to be drowned out by the harebrained ones. On 5/13/2026 at 7:14 PM, BrickPrick said: The Cad found a new home. Happy for you bud! I know exactly what you mean, it feels like buying an action figure rather than a minifigure when it arrives pre-assembled. That's a really good question! I actually do tend to watch reviews even for sets that feel boring or rehashed, although only by reviewers who frame the review as a discussion and try to offer insightful commentary rather than blindly praising a set in the typical LAN style. I'm the same mindset as you though, if I know I want a set the review isn't going to change my mind. Very rarely has a review actually cemented by decision or lack thereof to go for a set. It doesn't help that most of this year's lineup is just...boring? Fine? Safe? Just mostly devoid of excitement. What I find interesting across LEGO Star Wars reviews this year, especially by LAN members such as Solid Brix, is that there's a universal sense of fatigue with the decisions driving this theme. Ironically the lack of excitement isn't because LEGO Star Wars is past its heyday, but because people just want some good playsets again which the theme simply isn't offering to a satisfactory degree. Regarding the Mando social media reactions, I'm unfortunately not surprised to see they're mostly middling (although it is surprising to see this pattern with influencer reactions given how much they tend to skew positive). I really hoped that the film would have something that would surprise viewers to combat the notion that it should have just been another TV season, but in fairness the marketing has never promised anything beyond a fun time at the movies. It does make Lego throwing all their playscale eggs into the Mando basket a little amusing in hindsight though. I'm still of the opinion that a solid lineup of film and show sets based on Mando is fine, but we didn't really need as many as they gave us. Nonetheless, I'm still excited for the Remnant AT-AT and Sandcrawler reveals. There really is no point dragging things out this much when most summer sets have been revealed now. I really enjoyed the preview of the AT-AT sequence on Disney+ so I hope the set is done justice. Edited May 15 by Kaijumeister Quote
Alex_South Posted May 16 Posted May 16 (edited) i feel like the hutt droid has the same design aesthetic as cobb vanth's speeder, you buy both those sets and you sort of have a bounty hunter squad Edited May 16 by Alex_South Quote
CloneCommando99 Posted May 16 Posted May 16 (edited) Just realised that the 2 non-Mando show/ movie based sets this year are both based on Siege of Mandalore. Could have done with a TIE Avenger instead. smh. (#386) 15 hours ago, Mandalorianknight said: But yeah, Dryden wasn't great, and that led to solo doing poorly. Gilad Pellaeon? I think the main problem that Solo had was it lacked the spectacle of all the other SW movies. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool and fun film, I really enjoyed the first part but felt it lost momentum once the Crimson Dawn plot fully kicked in. But I’d argue it lacked the grandeur and scale that makes SW movies so memorable. The self-contained story works well for TV shows and Videogames but not movies imo. Movies need to have big good vs evil conflict. And that’s a mistake i fear they’re making again with M&G. It’s also that I’d argue the film lacked a paragon of morals (they really should have used this for Chewie) that the PT, OT and R1 benefitted from with Jedi and Chirrut. If you take away the moral contrast between light and dark it almost removes what makes SW a special mythology. I’d even argue that Shadow Lord wouldn’t have worked as well if Lawson and Daki weren’t present to remind us that Maul is still a villain. That’s why Solo is less memorable than the OT prequels and even Rogue One. Solo just didn’t have the scale or classic light vs dark dilemma. It’s just evil vs slightly less evil vs morally grey. Kenobi’s final episode and episode 4 were the best in the series because Obi-Wan wasn’t a sad jaded old man in those, he was a straight up Jedi fighting the forces of evil in those episodes. That’s why Luke sucks in the sequels. He was no longer the paragon of the light that we had loved standing against the darkness in the OT. In short SW movies thrive when it is large scale good vs evil. That’s what makes them special. Not when it’s a self-contained story. Elementary my dear Mandoknight. How could I not be referencing the GOAT? Edited May 16 by CloneCommando99 Quote
