Nice. I guess no one at the con figured out the secret knobs to make the Blaine mono crash.

Nice build. That's a lot of text and figures to read.

You should also consider having a backup plan in case the online service used goes out of business or start charging $$$ like Photobucket.

My significant other says I have too much LEGO. I am not really convinced of that yet.

This is a LEGO fan site. Thus Megabloks would be considered bad. The first Independence Day was way much better than this one.

Announcing OcTRAINber, the first contest by Brick Model Railroader!
dr_spock replied to raised's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Where was this contest last year when I built the PRR Centipede engine and Queen Mary flat car? Gonna have to come up with something new. -
Cool. How about some details? How were the MOCs selected? How did you get them there?

Great job. Clever, it appears to scan to your flickr.

There is the stud with hole you might be able to fit in the pin part on the bottom of those fence pieces. The 1x2 hinge pieces will give the smoother curve.

Ayrlego, thank you very much for putting together the list. Rats, I don't have room for another tag in my profile. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
dr_spock replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome back, KB. Those tags look great. We can certainly dole them out to participants of ERA I. Drunknok, you are free join whichever faction interests you. Although, being drunk might be more fun as a Sea Rats. -
Independence Day: Resurgence I give it 5 MegaBloks.

A good presentation is important. You are trying to sell something. A light tent is not necessary. It may not be practical if your model is too big. You can try to photograph outside on an overcast day and use white boards as reflectors and such. Point and shoots generally work better in good light conditions. If you're part of a LUG, you could ask to borrow equipment or a member help to photograph for you. Barter LEGO for photo services.

Rollercoaster pieces are cool. They'll eventually end up in other sets. I don't think LEGO would invest in a new track mold for just one set. Maybe we'll see purple tracks in Friends sets.

Just some 9v train automation with Mindstroms NXT 2.0
dr_spock replied to keverjeroen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice. I use Arduino to control my PF trains. It is much cheaper than a NXT or EV3 solution. Too be purist at public events, I borrowed a EV3 to start/stop a GBC machine. I am thinking of using it to control PF trains on our LUG layout. With Mindstorm 3 servos, I can turn the PF IR Speed Controler knobs and press the Stop buttons. We run outside under our large white tent. Bouncing IR signals off the tent seems to work when I tested my Arduino with an IR LED from a DVD remote. I wonder if PF IR controller is as strong.- 15 replies

How to spend US $800 without buying UCS MF
dr_spock replied to makoy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Since you're in the United States, you can get 50 PAB cups for $800 @ $16USD per cup. $800 only gets me as far as 40 cups in Canada @20CAD each. I don't think you can get banned for buying too many bricks. The only way I can think of getting banned is if you bought the bricks through some special purchase program with conditions attached and you violated those conditions. -
Ever ordered the wrong part from Bricklink?
dr_spock replied to Takanuinuva's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I haven't yet. Most of my orders are common black color parts. Hard to get wrong, I hope. Also whenever possible I buy locally with local pickup so I can inspect the parts before paying the seller C.O.D.
