  1. I think some feelings are going to be hurted. Day 271 of 365: You Dummy by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  2. Very nice. I like those PRR trains. Does the GG1 run?
  3. It is not hard to pick up constant power from the metal train tracks. Instead of 433MHz RF, I think a something like an ESP8266 WIFI board might be simpler to implement. You can communicate with it using almost anything--computer, phone, tablet, arduino/Raspberry PI with WIFI board, another ESP8266, etc. You would need voltage converters and motor driver circuits to handle the power requirements.
  4. Good review. ISBN is 9781593277604 for the second edition which is different from the first. Useful to find the second edition in search of Amazon and other bookstore sites.
  5. Welcome aboard, Kirk.
  6. Molte grazie for running the game. It's going to be a scary finish.
  7. Hope Voltron comes out first.
  8. There is probably a step down voltage converter inside the AA battery shaped 1.5V LiPo module to drop the voltage down to 1.5V.
  9. Wireless power transmission is not very efficient. The magnetic field could be an issue for people with heart pace maker implants if they get too close.
  10. I have a Fujifilm XP50. The XP50 doesn't allow changing focus points like a DSLR. I use a LEGO target tile to focus when the subject is not on the focus point as an alternative to the focus/recompose technique.. Set the timer to 10 secs. Press the shutter to focus and then get the target out of the scene before the 10 seconds is up.
  11. Other EB contests limit voting to those who joined before a certain date to avoid contestants getting friends and families to join and vote. Site guidelines do say multiple accounts will result in instant banning.
  12. Ha, I put hybrid in the lead. Which ones I use depends on my build.
  13. Those look like 16mm rubber balls. GBC standards uses the 14mm balls if you want your module to be compatible with others at events and shows.
  14. Maybe he should've delegated a backup person if he is going to be away or unavailable. Fixed voting time limits would make it seem fairer and not open to conflicts of interests.
  15. Welcome aboard, Paulo. I like those simple 1980s models too, 6 wide trains and 4 wide cars/trucks.
  16. Welcome to Eurobricks. Nice collection of Technic flagships. I see you got Photobucketed too. Flickr might be another to host LEGO photos. There is a big LEGO community on Flickr.
  17. Does your country's postal system offer special rates for small businesses based on how much they ship? Might be something to look into if you ship regularly with them. Do you pass the shipping costs directly on to your customers? They pay what you paid or did you quote too low without due diligence and now stuck with eating the cost difference?
  18. Thanks for the review. I love treads. I added treads to my 8110 Unimog years ago. I am not too keen on the purple. Feels like there should be a Catwoman or Batgirl fig included. I might recolor it if I buy the set.
  19. Rules of thirds look weird to me when you have a plain empty background. It might be good if you have a road or scene to steer the viewer's eyes to your MOC. What kind of point and shoot do you have? I used to use a Canon A590 IS. It has manual mode control over shutter, aperture, etc. You can start a photo a day any time. It doesn't have to start on the 1st day of the new year, although you can have a big party on the last of day of the year to celebrate the achievement. Ha, my new camera just ran out of battery as I started shooting for a set review tonight. I shot another set review last week with it. Those mirrorless cameras don't seem to go as long as the big bulky DSLRs. I should get into the habit of recharging between reviews.
  20. Nice. By the shape of that ball, I think they might be here to play rugby instead of football.
  21. Not a problem for the evening games. Thank you. It was weird that it posted twice. I reading my post and suddenly it was posted again when I back arrowed to the post listings. Thanks. I am thinking the lack of uniform would do the same. They could be the Nude Trador Soccer Competitors (NTSC). Wider bodies provide wider goal coverage, n'est-ce pas?
  22. Has anyone else tried a photo a day project (365 project)? It could be a good fun way to improve your photography skills. If you like personal challenges, you can also combine it with a MOC a day project to push your creativity.
