Will you still need an allen hex key or can you assemble using LEGO Technic pins?

I made custom cardboard boxes by cutting and gluing cardboard pieces. Be sure you can get it out your door if you plan to bring it to events. Someone learned the hard way.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
dr_spock replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't think LEGO ever did post-apocalyptic. Post-apocalyptic was popular among AFOLs to MOC about a decade ago. Friends sets use quite a bit of stickers. Example: Heartlake City Resort has 26 numbered stickers and some of them are multiples like the ones for the seat cushions. So it is more like 30 or so to apply. There were also heart missiles in the trailer. Mayhem's spaceship has one of those 1x1 star shaped studs popular in Friends sets. Hey, they even got the minidoll hop walk down. I guess my wondering what happened with Friends back in the first LEGO Movie may have been answered. -

Good catch. The Pub on-topic should be "Was the instruction manual creator drinking at the time?" -
It's a liability and lawyers. I don't bother screwing down my AAA battery boxes so that I can easily pull out and replace the rechargeable AAA batteries in my trains. It doesn't look like you can do this, the way the new battery holder is designed. I made a Bluetooth to PF IR transmitter a couple of years ago from a few dollars of parts for fun. I didn't really enjoy controling on a touch screen. Tapping on glass over time seems to hurt my finger joints.

Solo. Almost watched it solo as there were only about half a dozen of us in the theater.

It is a safety feature for your train. Otherwise, you have a run away train with no one in control. I guess the toy version of PTC (positive train control).

Danke. Didn't understand most of it. The old battery box was easier to change the batteries without having to pull everything out. I left the screws unscrewed and the top part comes out with the batteries when I pull on the PF connector. Glad the new box is the same size. Don't have to modify my existing MOCs to use it.

If you need a more detailed review of each set, you can check out FriendsBricks -> http://heartlaketimes.blogspot.com/

It depends on how hard you hit the lever and what kind of surface the go-kart is rolling on. 40264 is great for adding bunnies to a MOC. I should have bought more.

Lets talk color vomit
dr_spock replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
They probably had breathe in too much plastic cement vapour when they were kids and now are product managers. I was surprised when I saw a bunch of Gundam kits that snapped together instead of gluing at an anime convention over the weekend. Back in my days snap-together plastic model kits were for those too young to handle chemical solvents. Times have changed. -
Powered Up
dr_spock replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That's too bad. I liked turning the knobs on the old PF IR Speed Controller. I suppose you can gut the remote and make your own circuit board with functional knobs. Probably at some point when the existing inventory has been sold off. I wonder if they have stopped production yet. -

Do you mean stuff like this? -
Every bluebooth chip has its own unique MAC address. There is no need to switch channels. They can all use the same radio frequency but only responds to packets addressed to its MAC. You probably use the green button or some button combination to pair the controler and battery box together like with wireless computer keyboards and mice that have a USB dongle. 2 for sensors?

Lets talk color vomit
dr_spock replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sometimes "color vomit" is required to make a piece stand out and LEGO knows that. You probably have to really hurt LEGO's bottom line to make them go to back to the old color scheme for pins and axles. Day 101 of 365: Killer Bee by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Marsellus would like his briefcase back now, pretty please. The standard brown briefcase would have blended in with the floor... -

[Poll] What do you do with new sets?
dr_spock replied to mocbuild101's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do all of the above except resell sets. -
The cargo box, that green thing in the video holding the power equipment aka. battery box. Maybe this picture might explain it better. I'm guessing. It remains to be seen what the B model really looks like.

Maybe it is a 1970s RT crane. They also had smaller hydraulic cylinders back then. I guess someone could CNC some lift arms out of aluminum. If it is a drilling truck, the panel could be sides for the box.

Excellent review. I have no room at home to display it either.
