Avast, a Corrie spy plane! Nicely done. Have you tested it with real bricks? Good luck with your Ideas submission.

I haven't broken a switch yet. There is some resistance to being thrown. You could hook up a servo motor to switch and see how long before it breaks from repeated switching.

Does the tile-in-clip technique damage the parts?
dr_spock replied to NathanR's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is one way to find out the long term effect of using that new clip that way. Try it and report back. I think it should be ok, the clips are compressing the bottom edge of the grille the same way as the tiles in the Helicarrier. It doesn't take as much force to put a piece into the new style clip compared to the old style.- 9 replies

Very nice replica.

I think starting off with small MOCs and working your way up towards bigger and bigger MOCs might be less frustrating and daunting. I found LEGO Store Pick A Brick wall the inexpensive way to get bricks in some quantity. Their selection can be hit or miss. But it can be a fun challenge to work with what you got, When our LUG used to display in the Store's Community Display Window, I built my MOCs based on the PAB Wall.

Is it common to find a plastic bag torn open in a new set?

Where did you obtain those two sets from? -
My PRR Baldwin Centipede is around 58 studs long and the PRR Queen Mary FW1 car is 84 studs long. You can make them as long as you like if you don't already have a layout with rolling stock size restrictions. You can always design your layout to fit your rolling stock.

GBC General Discussion
dr_spock replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You could push a 14mm wood dowel or rod through to try to expand the insides if flexing them doesn't do the trick. My first GBC using the LEGO chains have been running fine since 2016 for many non-stop hours at many LUG events. The chain hasn't jammed or snapped yet while running. (I probably jinxed it now...) I can't think of any parts to avoid. The fun part of GBC is getting what crazy idea and parts you have to work. If you plan to display it at public events, make sure it works reliably. Unlike a video, you can't edit out the failures in front of a live audience. Sometimes that involves a lot of hard work and testing and more testing to put on a good live show.- 1,124 replies

I usually have my battery box centered right over the train motor.

Do you have a pic of your setup? I mounted my tube and tube holder upside down and the balls roll right down from the bin with the net.- 1,124 replies

Nice render. No EPA (American Environmental Protection Agency) in the BoBS era is correct for the period.

That's a great track find. I have a backyard and a crazy idea to hand laid code 250 aluminum rail spaced 38mm L-gauge instead G-gauge 45mm rail spacing or make G-gauge track dual gauge. Not sure which yet since I don't have funding for such a crazy project in the budget. I'm still dreaming. I picked up a SG12 camera earlier this year. It can fit on and in 6-wide LEGO engines and rolling stock. Waiting for my LUG's train events so I can try it out.

I really don't care if you use LEGO or LEGOs. I am no longer employed to ensure trademarks are properly used and attributed and grammar + spelling are correct in marketing materials. That's somebody else's headache now. Take two Aspirin(TM) pills and just let it slide. (Technically, you all should be saying "LEGO bricks" or "LEGO sets", not just LEGO if you're talking about their products like bricks and sets.) Aspirin is a trademark of Bayer AG. It could be IBM not longer makes PCs. They sold off that business unit a decade or so ago. They don't make PCs based on PowerPC(R) CPUs any longer , I think they still sell high-end mainframe and servers using the POWER(R) architecture. Apple also stopped using PowerPC processors a few Mac generations ago. PowerPC and POWER are registered trademarks of IBM Corp.

Balls do fit in the tube. I had to mount it upside down so that the balls will roll through in my old GBC setup from 5 years ago. GBC Modules by dr_spock_888, on Flickr- 1,124 replies

So pin with friction ridges work better? -
Generally no, unless the set is a good parts pack. Why pay someone else when you can make your own?
